We would l ike to warmly welcome you at the two-day event Renewables: A Key Driver for Clean Energy Transit ion

Solar PV Roof Top Workshop & Training

The shift toward clean, reliable, affordable electricity in the world is most visible in the rapid proliferation of solar panels mounted on the roofs of homes and businesses. Individuals and businesses have been attracted not just to the environmental benefits of solar power, but also to the abil ity to generate their own power and to the fixed and competit ive price of electricity that these systems provide.

Rooftop solar is increasingly cost-effective for home owners, business owners, and their communit ies. Reductions in technology prices, innovative financing, and growing networks of solar installers and financial partners all helped drive down the prices for PV Rooftop systems.

Dropping prices are due to economies of scale and technological advances. The fall ing price of rooftop PV systems results from improvements in the technology and economies of scale among manufacturers. Global solar PV installed capacity(for rooftop and other markets) increased from 99,000 megawatts (MW) in 2010 to 303,000 MW in 2016 [REN21, 2017 RE Global Status]. On the other hand, because rooftop solar can be installed in cit ies and towns, as opposed to remote locations, it offers job possibil it ies for local engineers and technicians.

Unlike the fossil fuels, solar panels generate electricity with no air or carbon pollut ion, no ash or other waste products, and no inputs other than sunlight.

The event, organised by the EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network in partnership with the Authority for Electricity Regulations (AER), the Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) as well as in associat ion with the Middle East Solar Industry Associat ion (MESIA), and the Dii - Desert Energy, is bringing together project developers, rooftop owners, financial inst itut ion, technology leaders, industry advisories, financial experts, government representatives, policy makers and entrepreneurs to debate the key challenges and opportunit ies in rooftop segment in policies, project construction, engineering, technology advancement and investors perspective in commercial, industrial and residential space.
