Chapter 1

A Murder Occurs

My cousin Rohan was 25 years and had been working as

a homicide detective for 8 years and was very good at hisjob. Most of the time I used to help him solve murders.

The one that we were working on was the murder of

John Sampasca. He was a lawyer and was married to

Jane Sampasca and they had a son called Michael

Sampasca who was 17 years old.

John had been stabbed in the chest with a weapon and

while we were canvassing the room of the victim, I

found cocaine and also a piece of glass from the victims

body that seemed to have broken from the murder

weapon. Now, cocaine is a killer drug so its a good

guess that the victim had come in contact with a drug

dealer. But he did not intake it because it wasnt found in

his body. We talked to his wife and his son. His wife said

that there was a guy called Sam Winker who was a friendof the victims and had wanted the Sampascas job. He

had once mentioned to John that he would kill for the job.So, we went to Sams house and brought him into the interrogation room. There

we asked him if he killed John or not. He kept on saying no and that it was a

phrase and that even John knew that. The murder had occurred between 11pm

and 12 midnight and his alibi checked out. His household staff verified that he

was at home watching the television during the time of murder.

We went back to the precinct and I was wondering if Sampasca was a good

lawyer many of his assistants would have been jealous of him and would want

to take his post. I mentioned this to Rohan and he suggested we look into

Johns email account. It so turned out that a person named Lyla Whitaker had

been sending threatening emails to John saying that she would take revenge!

Chapter 2

Lylas enters the picture

We went to Johns office and when we mentioned Lyla someone mentioned

that she was once caught in Johns cabin writing Revenge. We took her tothe interrogation room and she told us that John had assaulted her in office

because he was irritated with her and told her not to tell anybody. So she

wanted to take scare him and had written on his wall. On further investigation

her alibi seemed all right too; her boyfriend Pasco Nacklem confirmed that

she was at his home during the time of the murder. But our suspicion grew

when we saw footage pulled from the security cameras that showed Lyla

walking with Sampasca at 11.15 am towards his house. We then went to

Lylas house and demanded her to

tell the truth. She said that John

wanted to confess something to

her, but that night he never

finished what he started

Since her alibi was strong Rohan

and I went back to the precinctand I started thinking that if Lyla

didnt do it there will be many

more co-workers who might have

a grudge against John. As I was

thinking I figured that the killer

might not only be a co-worker, he might also be a person having a bad history

with John. So I looked into the files of the cases that John had been the lawyerto and as I was flipping through the pages I saw a name familiar to one that I

had heard recently. Suddenly Nacklem popped up! Finn Nacklem, was a man

rotting in jail because of a case that Sampasca had won. He also had a brother

named Pasco Nacklem!

So I thought that might be why Pasco wanted to take revenge on John and so

would have killed him. I told Rohan about this and he said that we needed

more proof to get a search warrant for Pascos house. So I looked at

everything about Pasco Nacklem and I saw that he currently works in a

chemical Laboratory. That can explain the piece of glass found in Johns body

and the graduation numbers I had noticed on the piece of glass.

I wanted to get more proof so I again met Lyla and asked her what her

boyfriend Pasco did for a Living. She looked terrified as soon as I asked that

question and she then told me not to tell anybody. She said that he was a drug

dealer but she had nothing to do with it. That would explain the cocaine, and I

immediately told Rohan and he suggested we head to Pascos house, but we

still did not have enough proof to get a warrant.

Chapter 3

Mystery solves

We both went to Pascos house and we found him cooking spaghetti. We

wanted to arrest him and started questioning him. He said that he wanted hislawyer. So we spoke to him in presence of his lawyer and gave him the

chance to confess. He still said no and that he didnt do it. So we decided to

give collect more proof and find out another motive, since I had a hunch that

it was him.

That afternoon while we were looking at the footage again, we noticed

something lurking behind the tree. On magnification we found Pasco behind

the tree watching Lyla and John walk to Johns house. It struck me that maybe

he thought that Lyla betrayed him and fell in love with John.

We called Pasco in for questioning again and stacked up all the evidence

against him. We told him that Lyla confessed by telling us that Pasco was a

drug dealer. We found cocaine on Johns body. We also found a piece of test

tube in Johns body that broke from the murder weapon. He worked in a

chemical lab and had access to such an apparatus. We gave him 2 motives formurder. Firstly John sent his brother Finn to Jail. Secondly Pasco had a doubt

that Lyla fell in love with Johm. At this stage he confessed by saying that He

killed John Sampasca.

He had to spent 18 years in Jail as punishment.
