His birth and upbringing: The Shaykh was born in Ethiopia in the year 1365 Hijrī. He began memorization of the Qur’ān at the instruction of his father. Later, his father sent him to sit with al-Shaykh Muammad ibn Qayh; he completed his reading of the Qur’ān with him. After this, he began to study a number of works in the various Islāmic sciences. His teachers: From the Shaykh’s teachers:  1. His father, al-Shaykh ‘Alī ibn Ādam ibn Mūsā al -  Wallawī, al - Ithyūbī. He studied with him books of creed, the Ḥanafī  school of jurisprudence, Usūl al -Fiqh, most of aḥīḥ al-Bukhārī , etc. His father granted him Ijāzah both orally and written. 2. Al-Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Sa’d ibn Shaykh ‘Alī al -Darrī; Shaykh Muammad sat with him for close to three years, studying part of the aḥīḥayn, grammar, morphology, Usūl al - Fiqh, etc. H

    e is the Muaddith Muammad ibn al-Shaykh Ali ibn dam ibn Ms al-Wallaw, al-Ithyb.

  • 3. Muammad ibn Zayn ibn Muammad al-Ithyb, al-Dn; he

    read upon him most of a Muslim with al-Nawaws explanation, the beginning of Sunan al-Bayhaqi, Tafsr al-Qurn al-Karm, Tadrb al-Rw, etc.

    4. Al-Muaddith, al-Shaykh Muammad ibn Rfi ibn Bar; he

    read Jmi al-Tirmidh and part of a Muslim upon him and also heard from him: [Sunan] Ab Dwd, al-Nas and Ibn Mjah. He granted him Ijzah to transmit all of his chains of narration.

    His writings: Shaykh Muammad al-Ithyb is from the most prolific authors of this time. He has penned voluminous works in almost every science of Islamic scholarship. The following is a short sampling of his many works: 1. The explication of Sunan al-Nas entitled Dhkhirah al-Uqba

    f Shar al-Mujtab in forty-two volumes. Our Shaykh, the Muaddith of the lands of Yemen, Muqbil ibn Hd al-Wdi said about this book: [This explication] is written in the manner of Fat al-Br by al-fi Ibn ajr. One has confidence in many of the Shaykhs positions due to them being in agreement with the evidences. I advise the students of knowledge to be diligent in acquiring this tremendous work, for not every Muaddith in this era has the ability to produce the likes of this explication.

  • 2. The explication of the Muqaddimah of a Muslim entitled

    Qurrah Ayn al-Mutj f Shar a Muslim ibn al-ajjj in two volumes

    3. The explication of Sunan Ibn Mjah entitled Mashriq al-Anwr

    al-Wahhajah wa Matali al-Asrr al-Bahhajah f Shar Sunan ibn Mjah in four volumes [incomplete]

    4. The explication of a Muslim entitled al-Bar al-Mu al-

    Thajj f Shar a Muslim ibn al-ajjj of which 28 volumes have been published.

    His teaching posts: Since his arrival in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Shaykh has been an instructor at Dr al-adth al-Khayriyyah in Makkah. He has also taught a number of lessons in Masjid al-Abrr in the area of Makkah known as al-Nakasah. The lessons he has taught there include the explanation of a al-Bukhr, a Muslim, Sunan al-Nas, Tafsr Ibn Kathr, etc. Praise for Shaykh Muammad al-Ithyb: We have already mentioned the great praise of our Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hd al-Wdi () regarding Shaykh Muammad and his explication of al-Nas: [This explication] is written in the manner of Fat al-Br by al-fi Ibn ajr.
