OUR MISSION:
DELIVER A PRODUCT SECOND TO NONE IN QUALITY AND
EFFICIENCY, WITH A FOCUS ON UNCOMPROMISING HONESTY
AND INTEGRITY.
Altius Building Company pledges to act as a tireless advocate for our customer,
ensuring that your best interests are voiced and protected during the entire
design and construction process. We are cognizant of and always endeavoring
to safeguard our reputation as one of the industry's most honorable
Construction Management groups.
SWIFTER HIGHER STRONGER
ALTIUS is the Latin word for
“higher,” as used in the exhortation
“Citius, Altius, Fortius” (swifter,
higher, stronger), the motto of the
Olympic Games.

Environmental LeaderWe understand the build environment has a profound impact on the natural environment, energy consumption, health, and productivity. We are experienced in sustainable construction and have completed multiple LEED projects. Our subcontractors utilize LEED and Green Globes standards to evaluate the environmental performance of our green building. Our team members are active participants in the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance, WasteCap Wisconsin, and proud to be a Trade Ally with Focus on Energy. With extensive experience in utilizing sustainability models, we are able to implement green strategies and techniques for resource efficiency.
InnovativeAltius Building Company utilizes the latest, cutting-edge, construction technology. With IR Thermal Technology, a thermo-graphic camera that detects infrared radiation from the magnetic spectrum, we can quickly and accurately assess for moisture damage, electrical problems, and energy conservation. Using drones and live feed, we have the potential for an on-demand visual history of the latest construction progress, making it easier to calculate distance, perimeter or volume. Our innovative management capabilities, includes industry leading, PROCORE System Project Management software, as well as comprehensive project cost accounting and scheduling software.
Uncompromising IntegrityAltius promotes a culture of honesty and integrity, treating our vendors and customers with the respect they deserve. We manage projects on an "open book" basis, encouraging our customers to request the details and support that best suits their needs.
We have respectful and positive working relationships with Architects, Engineers, Developers, Municipal Officials and other Project Team Members. This allows us to hit the ground running on day one.
When considering subcontractors we look for:
• Experience• Capability• Quality of Workmanship• Dependability/Reliability• Safety Track Record• Financial Stability• Workload/Availability• References
After our list of pre-qualified subcontractors is complete, we disseminate bid packages and solicit a minimum of three bids for every division of work. We evaluate each bid and make a recommendation on the award of the subcontract. The successful bidders perform as subcontractors to Altius Building Company, and Altius Building Company is ultimately responsible for the performance of all contracts.
We employ an "open book" process of providing independent, professional construction management services while advocating to achieve all desired objectives. As experienced Construction Manager, we believe our process is the best way to reach favorable results.
SELF PERFORMED WORK
As Construction Manager, Altius Building Company is your professional advisor and advocate, acting as an extension of your staff and dedicated to your project goals. To avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest, we do not self-perform any trade work, focusing our expertise on engaging the very best subcontractors. We are not signatory to any construction labor contracts, permitting flexibility in obtaining bids from union and non-union contractors.
During the early stages of our engagement, our team works with clients and project stakeholders to develop a comprehensive list of subcontractor bidders. Each will be pre-qualified by Altius to evaluate their financial and technical capacity, as well as their overall capabilities.
PUBLIC SECTOR EXPERIENCEConstruction practice in the public realm is very different from the private sector world. We know this because we do both. Your Construction Manager must have CM experience on public works projects to understand the unique constraints of this environment. Knowledge of the state statutes and local ordinances regarding bidding requirements, Wisconsin Use and Sales Tax Law, required legal notices, and unique contract provisions for trade contractors are essential.
Budget ManagementOur expertise in budget management maximizes the economies performance of building systems for the life of your project. We establish transparent administration processes, along with accurate construction estimates through every project stage, avoiding time and money loss as a result of a redesign. Working collaboratively with design professionals, as well as all members of the team, assures your project is the most efficient and economical. Our seasoned staff can offer suggestions on cost conscious ways to design, without sacrificing the project's aesthetic, or quality. At Altius, we understand that budget management doesn't end with project completion. Ensuring your project is not plagued with high maintenance cost, or poor performing features prevent high maintenance and operational cost for years to come.
Managing a budget is made easier with an integrated, birds-eye-view of financials. Altius understands that increased communication between our Project Managers and Accounting staff members is one of the best strategies for managing project budgets. A unified approach
improves data accuracy and prevents costly errors.
Projects that go past schedule increase costs and cut into profit margins. At Altius, invoices and payment to subcontractors are done promptly, change orders are completed accurately and timely, and innovative computer software, in both Accounting and Project Management, decreases the numbers of steps it takes to complete a task.
One of the most common reasons for got budget 'bust' and cost overruns is lack of communication. With advanced collaboration software, Altius team members can access project data, schedules, and lists on mobile devices. With the Procore platform everyone stays
in the loop with project alerts for actionable items and/or change orders. Put simply, we make certain that every member of the team has the information they need to do the work right,
the first time.
HistoryAltius Building Company was created in 2002 from a desire to offer the same level of service, quality,
craftsmanship, and ingenuity as large local contractors, but without the associated cost premium.
Born out of an extensive 60-year-old construction group, Altius continues that legacy with a winning combination
of sophistication, cost structure, and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
Altius has expanded from multi-family and senior living wood-framed designs, to include market-rate
apartments, student housing, historic restorations, commercial and industrial structures. By maintaining our core
values as we continue to grow we preserve what has always made us extraordinary, a 'customer first' focus in
everything we do.
