How to pass multiple prompt values to Query as a Web Service/BIWS (Web Service off WEBI REPORT)connection of the dashboard?

How to deal with prompt value that includes special character like , ; ' : etc ?

Environment

l Xcelsius 2008 l Dashboards Design 4.0 l SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 l SAP Business Intelligence 4.0

Resolution

1. Create a web service/query with an INLIST prompt using any of following approaches:

a. Using Query as a Web Service tool

b. Publishing a block of WEBI report

2. Open Xcelsius/Dashboards.

3. Go to Data Menu and Select Connections.

4. Click on Add and Select Query as a Web Service connection.

5. Copy WSDL URL of the query created and click on Import.

6. Select the prompt you want to pass multiple values to.

7. Once you select the prompt, click on + button to double the prompt. There would be two prompt with same name and properties.

8. You may click on + button to have multiple prompts.

9. Map the prompts to cells accordingly and select the refresh option from Usage tab.

This way you can pass multiple values to QaaWS/BIWS.

This approach would also be helpful if you want to pass multiple values among which one value includes special character (eg , . ; ') in it.
