ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
ABOUT THE VENUE IN UDAIPUR CITY
Arboviral diseases are a group of human viral infections transmittedby arthropods such as mosquitoes and ticks. In India, the mainarboviral diseases are dengue, chikungunya and Japaneseencephalitis that affect the underprivileged communities in urban, industrial, rural and tribal areas. In recent years, there have beenseveral outbreaks of dengue in India and South-East Asia therebypotentially increasing the healthcare burden in tropics. The publichealth emergency of Zika virus and the threat of global spread ofyellow fever combined with the resurgence of dengue andchikungunya constitute a wake-up call for government, academia, researchers, funders and WHO to strengthen programmes andenhance research in Aedes-transmitteddiseases.The Symposium will provide a professional opportunity bringingtogether various partners and stakeholders to deliberate oncontemporary issues of national importance: policies, diseaseburden, dynamics and determinants of disease, surveillanceapproaches, control options especially through multisectoral actions, biology and ecology of vectors, and ways to strengthen capacity invector surveillance, insecticide resistance management and publichealth entomology. There will special attention on control of dengueand JE in underprivileged communities in urban, industrial, rural andtribal areas. The symposium will provide a platform for interactionbetween public health professionals and young students andresearchers.
The historic and lake city of Udaipur in the State of Rajasthan providesa serene academic environment to host conferences and symposiums.Rajasthan State is home to numerous underprivileged tribal andnomadic communities. In 2018, there were major outbreaks of Zikaand dengue in Rajasthan with more than 150 cases of Zika and
approximately 10,000 cases of dengue. In 2019, until October nearly6000 cases of dengue have been reported. Therefore, the academicenvironment is fully charged to host the national symposium.
