Metal mailboxes can be delivered in spare units or banked (except model FUTURE V1000 and V1100). In this last case, customers must specify the number of rows and columns in the required bank. Then, it is possible to calculate the dimensions of the bank of mailboxes in the DIMENSIONS BOARD (see last page of catalogue).

There are many accessories for mailboxes. Some of those accessories are only available if the mailboxes are banked: surrounds, supports, name plates and notice boards.

Timber mailboxes are always supplied in banks of mailboxes. Dimensions of the bank are also available in the DIMENSIONS BOARD. There is also option of individual mailboxes upon request.

There are differents accesories available for wooden mailboxes: parcel shelves, frames and notice board fit into the bank of mailboxes. In order to calculate the dimensions of the banks, see the dimension board.

INTERCOM SYSTEM BOX

Made up in the bank of mailboxes, this box is prepared to install the Intercom system. This way of integrating the entry system and the mailboxes, allows the creation of a neat bank of mailboxes with matching finish intercom system panel.

The board below shows the width and height measurements for the banks of metal and timber mailboxes, in order to obtain the dimensions of the bank required.

After knowing these dimensions, you can calculate the perimeter of the bank, which is necessary if a surround or frame is going to be placed on the bank (surround or frame for metal mailboxes, just frame for timber mailboxes).

ARREGUI MAILBOXES regarding the UNE EN 13724 STANDARD

Mailbox Measurements

The standard does not set the mailbox measurements, but rather certain parameters used to calculate them:

· The so-called C-4 sized envelope, having measurements of 324 x 229 mm, should fit in the mailbox. In filling this envelope with A-4 sized sheets of paper,

with a thickness of 24 mm, it should be able to be inserted and removed from the mailbox without damaging it.

· You should be able to fit in the mailbox correspondence that totals 40 mm in thickness, with the same remaining at least 5 mm from the end of the safety

ramp. These parameters help to determine the minimum height that the mailbox should be.

· The slot (or opening) of the mailbox should be 30 to 35 mm in height (it can go up to 40 mm in the case of letter slots), and a width of:

-325 to 400 mm, if it is a magazine mailbox in width.

-230 to 280 mm, if it is a magazine mailbox in depth.

Mailbox Requirements

· Confidentiality: The mailbox should not have a window to see inside of it.

· Anti-Corrosion: Exterior mailboxes, double access mailboxes and letter slot mailboxes (that it is say, all mailboxes except for interior ones), should

undergo a saline mist test and withstand it for at least 96 hours.

· Resistance to water penetration: Exterior mailboxes, double access mailboxes and letter slot mailboxes (that it is say, all mailboxes except for indoor

ones), should pass a demanding water entrance test. The standard specifies the conditions under which the test should be performed: Number of minutes

under the water, volume of flow, description of faucet to be used, etc.

In illustration 2 the Espace E-2800 model is shown undergoing a test, and successfully passing it.

· Safety against Theft: There are a number of requirements that are demanded on this subject:

1. Security Ramp: the mailbox slot should come with a built-in inclined plane, of at least 15 mm in depth, which makes hand insertion into the slot

difficult. It will be inclined upwards in horizontal mailboxes, and downwards, in vertical ones.

2. Resistance to external pull: the mailbox door should be able to withstand a pull with strength of 150 N to reach the Grade 1 safety level or 220

N to achieve the Grade 2 level of safety.

In the illustration, the Habitat H-8100 model is shown, withstanding the force test (see image 1).

3. Lock: the lock should have a least 200 truly different combinations.

4. In the case of the letter slots, once installed, the fixtures should not be able to be removed (Draw bolts, screws, or the like) from the outside.

Mailbox Placement

· In the case of individual mailboxes (for example: Exterior mailboxes, letter slots…'85), the main opening line (slot) should be at a height between 70 and

170 cm measured from the level of the floor, on the side that the correspondence is delivered.

· If dealing with a grouping of mailboxes, the lines of the slots should be between 40 and 180 cm from the floor.

· A letter slot should not be affixed less than 40 cm form the door lock, unless there is an extra lock further away, or the door can be closed from the inside

using a removable key.

· If the distance between the letter slot and the level of depositing the correspondence is greater than 68 cm, the height of the letter slot opening may

reach 40 mm, and does not need a security ramp.
