ن الرحيم بسم الله الرحم

MERITS

من قرأ سورة الذين كفروا مل يرتب أبدا، »اهلل )عليه السالم(، قال: ابن بابويه: بإسناده، عن أيب املغرا، عن أيب بصري، عن أيب عبد و مل يدخله شك يف دينه أبدا، و مل يبتله اهلل بفقر أبدا، و ال خوف من سلطان أبدا، و مل يزل حمفوظا منن الكنك و الرفنر أبندا

حىت ميوت،

Ibn Babuwayh, by his chain, from Abu Al-Magra, from Abu Baseer,

‘From Abu Abdullahasws: ‘The one who recites Surah: Those who commit Kufr [47:1] (Chapter 47 known as Surah Muhammadsaww), would not be suspicious ever, and doubt will not enter in his Religion ever, and Allahazwj will never Involve him in poverty ever, and will not fear the ruling authorities ever, and will not cease being Protected from the doubt and the Kufr ever, until he dies.

فإذا مات وكل اهلل به يف قربه ألف ملك يصلون يف قنربه، يرنون انواال مناله، لنه، و يكنيىتويه حنىت يوقفنوه موقنف اهللمنن عنند اهلل «.عز و جل، و يرون يف أمان اهلل و أمان حممد )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(

So when he dies, Allahazwj Allocates a thousand Angels to be in his grave to be praying Salat in his grave, their Rewards of their Salats would be transferred onto him. They would escort him until he pauses at a secure place in the Presence of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic, and would come to be in the Protection of Allahazwj and the protection of Muhammadsaww’.1

من قرأ هذه السورة مل يول وجهه جهة إال رأى فيه وجه »و من )خواص القرآن(: روي عن النيب )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(، أيه قال: رسول اهلل )ملى اهلل عليه و آله( إذا خرج من قربه، و كان حقا على اهلل تىتاىل أن يسقيه من أهنار اجلنة،

And from Khawas Al-Quran –

‘It has been reported from the Prophetsaww having said: ‘The one who recites this Chapter (Surah Muhammadsaww), when he comes out from his grave, he would not turn his face in any direction except he would see in it the face of Rasool-Allahsaww,

and he would have a right upon Allahazwj the Exalted that he should be quenches from the River of the Paradise.

«.و من كتبها و علقها عليه، أمن يف يومه و يقظته من كل حمذور بربكتها

And the one who recites it and attaches it (as an amulet), would be safe in his sleep, and be vigilant from every hazard due to its Blessings’.2

تبها و علقها عليه، أمن يف يومه و يقظته من كل حمذور، و كان حمروسا من كنل من ك»و قال رسول اهلل )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(: «.بالء و داء

And Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The one who writes it (Surah Muhammadsaww) and attaches it (as an amulet), would be safe in his sleep, and be vigilant from every hazard, and would be given strength against every affliction and disease’.3

من كتبها و علقها عليه دفع عنه اجلان، و أمن يف يومه و يقظته و إذا جىتلها إيسان على رأسنه »و قال الصادق )عليه السالم(: «.كفي شر كل طارق بإذن اهلل تىتاىل

And Al-Sadiqasws said: ‘The one who writes it and attaches it (as an amulet), the Jinn would be repulsed from him, and he would be safe in his sleep, and be vigilant when a human makes an evil to come upon his head on every road, by the Permission of Allahazwj’.4

عمنال وقنال علينه السنالم: منن اراد ان يىتنرف حالننا وحنال اعندا نا فليقنرأ سنورة حممند يف جممع البيان بىتد ان يقل حندي انواال اال ملى اهلل عليه واله فايه يراها آية فينا وآية فيه،.

In Majma Al-Bayaan after having copied a Hadeeth from Sawaab Al-Amaal,

And heasws said: ‘The one who intends to recognise ourasws situation and the situation of ourasws enemies, so he should recite Surah Muhammadsaww, for he would see a Verse regarding usasws and a Verse regarding them’.5

Merit of the Name ‘Muhammad’

A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from one of his companions, raising it, said,

‘Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The one for whom was a pregnancy, so he makes the intention that he would be naming him as ‘Muhammad’, or ‘Ali’, there would be born for him, a boy’.6

اننا أيب عن ليد عن أيس عن أيب ذر قال: ىت حد تا و هنو ينقنول خلقنت أينا و علني منن ينور واحند س ت النيب ص بأذن و إال منمبه ث يقلننا منن كنرام اهللمنالال أن يلق أبويا آدم بألفي عنام فنلمنا خلنق أبوينا آدم منريا يف منل يسبح الله على مينة الىترش من قنبل

إىل مطهرات اهللرحام حىت مريا يف ملب جدي عبد المطلب

It was narrated to us by my father, from Humeyd, from Anas,

‘From Abu Zarrra who said, ‘Ira heard the Prophetsaww saying, by myra own ears, or else Ira be deafened, and hesaww was saying: ‘Isaww and Aliasws were Created from one Light. Weasws Glorified Allahazwj upon the right of the Throne from before Heazwj Created ourasws fatheras Adamas, by two thousand years. So when ourasws fatheras Adamas was Created, weasws came to be in hisas forehead. Then weasws transferred from the honourable foreheads to the purified laps until weasws came to be in the forehead of mysaww grandfatherasws Abdul Muttalibasws.

للنبننوة و الرلنة و البنركنة و اختنار علينا ث شقنا يصنفن و منينرن يف منلب عبند اللنه و منينر علينا يف منلب أيب طالنب و اختنارن ن من أسا ه للكجاعة و الىتل، و الفصاحة و اشتق لنا اس

Then weasws split into two halves, and Isaww came to be in the forehead of Abdullahasws, and Aliasws came to be in the forehead of Abu Talibasws, and Heazwj Chose mesaww for the Prophet-hood and the Mercy and the Blessings, and Chose Aliasws for the bravery, and the knowledge, and the eloquence, and Derived two names for usasws from Hisazwj Names.

عز و جل حممود و أيا حممد و الله الىتلي و هذا علي .

The Mighty and Majestic is ‘Mahmoud’ (The Most-Praised One) and Isaww am ‘Muhammad’ (the praised one), and Allahazwj is ‘Ali Al-Azeem’ (the Magnificent), and this is Aliasws (Exalted)’’.7

Names of Rasool-Allahsaww in the Holy Quran

اهلل عليه السالم قال قال ىل ك، حملمد حدانا ابراهي، بن هاش، عن اعمش بن عيسى عن لاد الطياىف عن الرلىب عن اىب عبد اس، يف القرآن قال قلت اسان أو ال فقال يا كلىب له عكرة اساء

It has been narrated to us by Ibrahim Bin Haashim, from A’amsh Bin Isa, from Hamaad Al-Taaafi, from Al-Kalby, who has narrated:

Abu Abdullahasws said to me: ‘How many names are there in the Quran for (name of) Muhammadsaww?’ I said, ‘Two names or three’. Heasws said: ‘O Kalby, for himsaww there are ten names.

وما حممد اال رسول قد خلت من قبله الرسل

And Muhammad is not except for a Rasool; the Rasools have already passed away before him [3:144].

ومبكرا برسول يأيت من بىتدى اسه الد

And: giving glad tidings of a Rasool to come after me, his name being Ahmad’. [61:6]

وملا قام عبد اهلل كادوا يرويون عليه لبدا

And: surely when Abdullah stood supplicating to Him, they almost became crowding upon him [72:19]

وطه ما ايزلنا عليك القرآن لتكقى

And: Ta Ha [20:1] We have not Revealed the Quran unto you for you to be distressed [20:2]

ويس والقرآن احلري، ايك ملن املرسلن على مراط مستقي،

And: Ya Seen [36:1] By the Wise Quran [36:2] You are one of the Rasools [36:3] Upon a Straight Path [36:4]

ون والقل، وما يسطرون وما ايت بنىتمة ربك مبجنون

And: Noon! By the Pen, and what they will be writing! [68:1] By the Grace of your Lord you are not insane! [68:2]

ويا ايها املزمل

And: O Muzzammil! [73:1]

ويا ايها املدار

And: O Muddasar! [74:1]

وايا ايزلنا ذكرا رسوال فالذكر اس، من اساء حممد ملى اهلل عليه وآله حنن اهل الذكر فسئل يا كليب عما بدا لك

And: Allah has Sent down to you a Zikr [65:10] A Rasool [65:11]. So the ‘Zikr’ is a name from the names of Muhammadsaww. Weasws are the ‘Ahl Al-Zikr’ (Family of Zikr), therefore ask, O Kalby, about whatever comes to you’.

قال فايسيت واهلل القرآن كله فما حفظت منه حرفا اسئله عنه.

He (the narrator) said, ‘But I forgot, by Allahazwj, the Quran, all of it, and I could not recall a sentence I could ask himasws about’’.8

VERSE 1

{1الذين كفروا ومدوا عن سبيل الله أضل أعمال، }Those who commit Kufr and hinder from the Way of Allah, their deeds would be lost [47:1]

أخربينا فطنر بنن إبنراهي،، عنن أيب ال: حندانا ألند بنن حممند الراتنب، عنن ليند بنن الربينع، عنن عبيند بنن موسنى، قنال:و عننه، قنمنن أراد أن يىتلن، فننلنا علنى عندويا، فليقنرأ هنذه السنورة النه ينذكر فيهنا النذين كفنروا و »احلسن موسى )عليه السنالم(، أينه قنال:

«.ينا آية، و فيه، آية، إىل آخرهامدوا عن سبيل الله ف

And from him, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al-Katib, from Hameed Bin Al-Rabi’e, from Ubeyd Bin Musa, from Fatar Bin Ibrahim,

Abu Al-Hassanasws Musaasws has said: ‘The one who intends to know ourasws merits upon ourasws enemies, so he should recite this Chapter in which is Mentioned: Those who commit Kufr and hinder from the Way of Allah [47:1]. Regarding usasws is a Verse, and regarding them is a Verse, up to its end’.9

عن أبيه، عن حصن ابن خمارق، عن سىتد بن طريف و أيب حممد بن الىتباس: عن ألد بن حممد بن سىتيد، عن ألد بن احلسن، «.سورة حممد )ملى اهلل عليه و آله( آية فينا، و آية يف بين أمية»لزة، عن اهللمبغ، عن علي )عليه السالم(، أيه قال:

Muhammad Bin Al-Abbas, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Saeed, from Ahmad Bin Al-Hassan, from his father, from Haseyn Ibn Makharaq, from Sa’d Bin Tareyf and Abu Hamza, from Al-Asbagh,

‘Aliasws said: ‘Surah Muhammadsaww has a Verse regarding usasws, and a Verse regarding the clan of Umayya’.10

: الذين كفروا: يىتين بين أمية و مدوا عن سبيل الله عن ابن شهرآشوال: عن جىتفر، و أيب جىتفر )عليهما السالم(، يف قوله تىتاىل «.والية علي بن أيب طالب )عليه السالم(

Ibn Shehr Ashub,

Ja’farasws and Abu Ja’farasws regarding the Words of the Exalted: Those who commit Kufr [47:1] - Meaning the Clan of Umayya, and hinder from the Way of Allah - from the Wilayah of Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws’.11

ث قننال علنني بننن إبننراهي،: أخربيننا ألنند بننن إدريننس، عننن ألنند بننن حممنند، عننن احلسننن بننن الىتبنناس احلريكنني، عننن أيب جىتفننر )عليننه مننلى اهلل عليننه و آلننه( يف املسننجد و الننناس جمتمىتننون قننال أمننري املننعمنن )عليننه السننالم(، بىتنند وفنناة رسننول اهلل )»السننالم(، قننال:

ا قلنت قنال: بصورت عنال: النذين كفنروا و مندوا عنن سنبيل اللنه أضنل أعمنال،، فقنال لنه: ابنن عبناس: ينا أبنا احلسنن، مل قلنت من قرأت شيئا من القرآن.

Then Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘Ahmad Bin Idrees informed us, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Hassan Bin Al-Abbas Al-Hareyshi,

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘Amir-Al-Momineenasws said in a loud voice after the passing away of Rasool-Allahsaww, in the Masjid, and the people had gathered, Those who commit Kufr and hinder from the Way of Allah, their deeds would be lost [47:1]. So Ibn Abbas said to himasws, ‘O Abu Al-Hassanasws! Why did youasws say what youasws said?’ Heasws said: ‘Iasws recited something from the Quran’.

أ فتكننهد علننى قننال: لقنند قلتننه هللمننر. قننال: يىتنن، إن اهلل تىتنناىل يقننول يف كتابننه: مننا آتنناك، الرسننول فنننذوه و مننا هننناك، عنننه فنناينتنهوا، رسول اهلل )ملى اهلل عليه و آله( أيه استنلف أبا برر قال: ما سىتت رسول اهلل )ملى اهلل علينه و آلنه( أومنى إال إلينك. قنال

بايىتتين قال: اجتمع الناس على أيب برر، فرنت منه،. فهال

He said, ‘Youasws have said a command’. Heasws said: ‘Yes. Allahazwj the High is Saying in Hisazwj Book: And whatever the Rasool gives you, so take it, and whatever he forbids you from, then refrain [59:7]. Did you testify to Rasool-Allahsaww having appointed Abu Bakr as a successor?’ He said, ‘I heard Rasool-Allahsaww bequeathing it to youasws’. Heasws said: ‘So had you not pledged your allegiance to measws?’ He said, ‘The people gathered around Abu Bakr, and I (Ibn Abbas) was among them’.

منا فقال أمري املعمنن )علينه السنالم(: كمنا اجتمنع أهنل الىتجنل علنى الىتجنل، هاهننا فتننت،، و منلر،: كمنل النذي اسنتنوقد ينارا فنل «.جىتون م، بر، عمي فنه، ال ينر أضاءت ما حوله ذهب الله بنوره، و تنركه، يف ظلمات ال ينبصرون

So Amir-al-Momineenasws said: ‘Just as the people of the calf had gathered around the calf. This here is your strife, and your example, is like the example of those who kindled a fire, but when it had illumined all around them, Allah Took away their light, and left them in darkness – not seeing [2:17]. Deaf, dumb (and) blind, so they will not be returning’[2:18].12

ن، ه، ك والذين آمنوا وعملوا الصاحلات وآمنوا مبا ينزل على حممد وهو احلق منن ره فنر عننن {2سيئاه، وأملح بال، }

And those who believe and do righteous deeds, and believe in what is Revealed unto Muhammad, and it is the Truth from their Lord, their evil deeds would be expiated from them and their state would be corrected [47:2]

، لك بأن الذين كفروا اتنبنىتوا الباطل وأن الذين آمنوا اتنبنىتوا احلق من ره لك يننرال ذ كذ {3الله للناس أمال، }

That is because those who commit Kufr are following the falsehood, and surely, those who believe are following the Truth from their Lord. Like that, Allah Strikes their examples for the people [47:3]

The Altered Verse

بو عبد اهلل )عليه علي بن إبراهي،، قال: أخربيا احلسن بن حممد، عن املىتلى بن حممد بإسناده، عن إسحاق بن عمار، قال: قال أه، سيئاه، و أملح يف عليو الذين آمنوا و عملوا الصاحلات و آمنوا مبا ينزل على حممد »السالم(: و هو احلق من ره، كفر عنن

«.بال،، هرذا يزلت

Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘Al-Husayn Bin Muhammad informed us, from Al-Moala Bin Muhammad, by his chain, from Is’haq Bin Amaar who said,

‘Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘And those who believe and do righteous deeds, and believe in what is Revealed unto Muhammad regarding Ali, and it is the Truth from their Lord, their evil deeds would be expiated from them and their state would be corrected [47:2]. This is how it was Revealed’.13

أيب ذر و سنلمان و عمنار و املقنداد، و ث قال علي بن إبراهي، أينا، يف قوله تىتاىل: و الذين آمنوا و عملوا الصاحلات: يزلت يف، يىتنين أمنري املنعمنن )علينه السنالم(: مل ينقنوا الىتهد و آمنوا مبا ينزل على حممد، أي ابتنوا علنى الوالينة النه أيزلنا اهلل: و هنو احلنق

ه، سيئاه، و أملح بال، أي حال،. من ره، كفر عنن

Then Ali Bin Ibrahim said as well,

‘Regarding the Words of the Exalted: And those who believe and do righteous deeds [47:2] - was Revealed regarding Abu Zarrra, and Salmanra, and Ammar, and

Al-Miqdadra, and they did not breach the pledges, and believe in what is Revealed unto Muhammad, i.e., they were steadfast upon the Wilayah which Allahazwj Revealed, and it is the Truth from their Lord - Meaning Amir-al-Momineenasws, from their Lord, their evil deeds would be expiated from them and their state would be corrected [47:2] - i.e., their state of affairs.

آلننه( و أمننري ث ذكننر أعمننال، فقننال: ذلننك بننأن الننذين كفننروا اتنبنىتننوا الباطننل و هنن، الننذين اتبىتننوا أعننداء رسننول اهلل )مننلى اهلل عليننه و املعمنن )عليه السالم(: و أن الذين آمنوا اتنبنىتوا احلق من ره،.

Then Heazwj Mentioned their deeds, so Heazwj Said: That is because those who commit Kufr are following the falsehood [47:3], and these are the ones who followed the enemies of Rasool-Allahsaww and Amir-al-Momineenasws, and surely those who believe are following the Truth from their Lord’.14

VERSES 4 - 6

بنىتند وإمنا فإذا لقيت، الذين كفروا فنرال الرقاال حىت إذا أاننتموه، فكدوا الوااق فإمنا مناناه، ولرنن لي فداء حىت تنع احلرال أوزارهنا لنك ولنو يكناء اللنه الينتصنر مننن لنو بنىتننر، ذ بن

{4والذين قتلوا يف سبيل الله فنلن ينل أعمال، } ببنىتض So when you meet (in battle) those who are committing Kufr, then strike the necks until when you have captured them, so tighten the bond. Then either a favour (set free) afterwards or a ransom, until the war places its burden (terminates). That (shall be so), and if Allah so Desires He would Take Retribution from them, but He Tries some with others. And those who are killed in the Way of Allah, their deeds will never be lost [47:4]

{5سينهديه، ويصلح بال، }He will be Guiding them and He will Correct their state [47:5]

{6ويدخله، اجلنة عرفنها ل، }And Enter them into the Paradise, having Introduced it to them (before) [47:6]

Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘My father narrated to me, from one of our companions,

‘Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘In Surah Muhammadsaww is a Verse regarding usasws, and a Verse regarding ourasws enemies, and the evidence upon that are the Words of the Exalted: Like that, Allah Strikes their examples for the people [47:3] So when you meet (in battle) those who are committing Kufr, then strike the necks [47:4] - up to Hisazwj Words: So when you meet (in battle) those who are committing Kufr, then strike the necks. So, this is the sword against the non-Arab Polytheists from the Atheists, and the one who does not have a Book, and worships the fires and the planets’.15

Yahya Al-Halby, from Abu Al-Mustahal, from Suleyman Bin Khalid who said:

Abu Abdullahasws questioned me: ‘What was the place in which you placed (the body of) Zayd?’ I said, ‘There were three issues. As for one of them, so there were very few of us who were left behind with us, but rather, we were eight persons. As for the other one, so we were afraid from the morning, which would have exposed us. And as for the third, so it was his bed (resting place) which he proceeded to’. So heasws said: ‘How far was the Euphrates from the place in which you placed (buried) him?’ I said, ‘A stone’s throw away’.

ت جىتلت فداك ال و الله ما طقنا لذا فنقال فنقال سبحان الله أ فال كنت، أوقنرتوه حديدا و قذفنتموه يف الفرات و كان أفنل فنقل ن قال فما كان عدوك، قنلت كفارا ء كنت، ينوم خرجت، مع زيد قنلت معمن أي شي

So heasws said: ‘Glory be to Allahazwj! So why did you all not tie a (piece of) iron to him, and throw him in the Euphrates, and that would have been preferable?’ I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for youasws, no, by Allahazwj, we had no way for this’. So heasws said: ‘Which thing (were you on) on the day you all came out with Zayd?’ I said, ‘We were Momineen’. Heasws said: ‘Who were your enemies?’ I said, ‘Kafirs’.

Heasws said: ‘Iasws found in the Book of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic: So when you meet (in battle) those who are committing Kufr, then strike the necks until when you have captured them, so tighten the bond. Then either a favour (set free) afterwards or a ransom, until the war places its burden (terminates) [47:4]. You all began by evacuating yourselves from captivity. Glory be to Allahazwj! You did not have the ability to travel with the justice even for a while’.16

And by his chain, form Al Minqary, from Hafs Bin Giyas,

‘From Abu Abdullahasws who said, ‘A man asked myasws fatherasws about the wars of Amir Al-Momineenasws, and the questioner was from those that love usasws, so Abu Ja’farasws said to him: ‘Allahazwj Sent Muhammadsaww with five swords, three of these were brandished (waved), so they would not be sheathed until the wars come to an end, and the wars will never come to an end until the sun emerges from its west. When the sun emerges from its west, the people would be in safety, all of them, during that day.

فع ينفسا إمياهنا مل ترن آمنت من قنبل أو كسنبت يف إمياهننا خنريا و سنيف منن هنا مغمنود سنله فنينومئذ ال يننن هنا مرفنوف و سنيف منننا إىل غرييا و حرمه إلين

So in those days no soul would benefit from its Eman if it had not believed from beforehand, or goodness achieved from its Eman; and a sword from these is restrained, and a sword from these is sheathed and would be unsheathed to other than usasws, and its decision is for usasws (to make)’.

And the third sword is a sword upon the non-Arab Polytheists, meaning the Turks, and Al-Daylam, and Al-Khazar. Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Says in the beginning of the Chapter in which Heazwj Mentioned those who disbelieved, so Heazwj Related their story, then Said: So when you meet (in battle) those who are committing Kufr, then strike the necks until when you have captured them, so tighten the bond. So, as for Hisazwj Words: afterwards - Meaning after taking captives from them, or a ransom - Meaning the ransoming between them and the people of Al-Islam. So, they are the ones from whom nothing would be accepted except for the killing, or the entry into Al-Islam, and marrying them would not be Permissible for us for as long as they are in the house of the war. 17

VERSES 7 - 9

{7ت أقدامر، }يا أينها الذين آمنوا إن تننصروا الله يننصرك، وينب O you those who believe! If you help (the Cause of) Allah, He will Help you and Affirm your feet [47:7]

{8والذين كفروا فنتنىتسا ل، وأضل أعمال، }And those who commit Kufr, so Perdition is for them, and their deeds would be lost [47:8]

لك بأينه، كرهوا ما أينزل الله فأحبط أعمال، } {9ذThat is because they abhorred what Allah Revealed, so He Nullified their deeds [47:9]

In Tafseer Qummi – Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘Ja’far Bin Ahmad narrated to us, from Abdul Kareem Bin Abdul Raheem, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Muhammad Bin Al-Fazeylm from Abu Hamza,

‘Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘Jibraeelas descended upon Muhammadsaww with this Verse like this: That is because they abhorred what Allah Revealed regarding Ali, so He Nullified their deeds [47:9]. Indeed, they have rubbed off the name (Aliasws), so He Nullified their deeds’.18

Muhammad Bin Al-Abbas, from Ahmad Bin Al-Qasim, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Khalid, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Ibn Al-Fazeyl, from Abu Hamza, from Jabir,

‘Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘The Words of the Exalted are as: That is because they abhorred what Allah Revealed regarding Ali, so He Nullified their deeds [47:9]’.19

VERSE 10

دمننر اللننه علننيه، أفنلنن، يسننريوا يف اهللر فنيننظننروا كيننف كننان عاقبننة الننذين مننن قنننبله، {10وللرافرين أمالا }

So why don’t they travel in the earth and look at how was the end-result of those from before them? Allah Brought devastation upon them, and for the Kafirs would be similar to it [47:10]

مىتنناه أ و مل ينظننروا يف »ابنن بابوينه، قنال: سنئل الصنادق )عليننه السنالم( عنن قنول اهلل عنز و جننل: أ فنلن، يسنريوا يف اهللر ، قنال: «.القرآن

Ibn Babuwayh said,

‘Al-Sadiqasws was asked about the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic: So why don’t they travel in the earth [47:10], heasws said: ‘Its Meaning is – ‘Why don’t they look into the Quran?’20

يسنريوا يف اهللر ، فقنرأ أبنو جىتفنر )علينه السنالم(: و قال جابر: سألت أبا جىتفر )عليه السنالم( عنن قنول اهلل عنز و جنل: أ فنلن، [ ينوم [ من املطلع إىل املغنرال ]يف هل لك يف رجل يسري بك ]فيبلغ بك»الذين كفروا، حىت بلغ أ فنل، يسريوا يف اهللر ، ث قال:

And Jabir said,

‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic: So why don’t they travel in the earth [47:10], so Abu Ja’farasws recited: And those who commit Kufr [47:8], until heasws reached: So why don’t they travel in the earth [47:10], so Abu Ja’farasws recited: And those who commit Kufr [47:8], then said: ‘Is

there a man among you with whom you can journey from the East to the West in one day?’

ذاك أمننري املننعمنن )عليننه السننالم(، أ مل تسننمع قننول »و مننن هب هننذا فقننال: -جىتلننين اهلل فننداك -قننال: فقلننت: يننا بننن رسننول اهللرسنننول اهلل )منننلى اهلل علينننه و آلنننه(: لتنننبلغن اهللسنننباال، و اهلل لتكنننع السنننحاال، و اهلل لتنننعتن عصنننا موسنننى، و اهلل لنننتىتطن خنننات

I said, ‘O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww – May Allahazwj Makes us to be sacrificed for youasws – and who is this for me?’ So heasws said: ‘That is Amir-al-Momineenasws. Have you not heard the Words of Rasool-Allahsaww: ‘Heasws will be preaching the sources . By Allahazwj, heasws will be riding the clouds. By Allahazwj, heasws will come with the Staff of Musaas. By Allahazwj, heasws will be wearing the ring of Suleymanas’. Then heasws said: ‘These are the Words of Rasool-Allahsaww’.21

VERSE 11

لك بأن الله موىل الذين آمنوا وأن الرافرين ال موىل ل، } {11ذThat is because Allah is the Guardian of those who believe, and that the Kafirs, there is no Guardian for them [47:11]

It was informed to us by the Sheykh Al Mufeed Abu Ali Al Hassan Bin Muhammad Bin Al Hassan Al Toosy in the place and date mentioned before, from his father, from Abu Umar Abdul Wahid Bin Muhammad Bin Mahdy, from Abu Al Abbas Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Saeed, from Muhammad Bin Ja’far Bin Madad (Midrar), from Muawiya Bin Maysara Bin Shareeh, from Al Hakam Bin Uteyba and Salmat Bin Kuheyl, from Habeeb, and he was a shoemaker among the Clan of Udayy, and had goodly praise upon him, he heard from Ibn Arqam saying,

من كنت مواله فنىتلي مواله الله، وال من وااله و عاد من عاداه. خطبننا رسول الله ص ينوم غدير خ، فنقال

‘Rasool-Allahsaww addressed us on the Day of Ghadeer Khumm: ‘The one who guardian Isaww was, so Aliasws is his guardian. O Allahazwj! Befriend the one who befriends him, and be Inimical to the one who is inimical to him’.22

VERSES 12 - 14

ننري مننن اتهننا اهللينهننار ذين والنن إن اللننه ينندخل الننذين آمنننوا وعملننوا الصنناحلات جنننات {12كفروا ينتمتنىتون ويأكلون كما تأكل اهللينىتام والنار منوى ل، }

Surely Allah will Enter those who believe and do the righteous deeds into the Paradise, the rivers flowing from beneath it. And those who commit Kufr are enjoying and eating just as the animals eat, and the Fire would be an abode for them [47:12]

{13وكأين من قنرية هي أشد قنوة من قنريتك اله أخرجتك أهلرناه، فال يامر ل، }And how many a town was stronger in prowess than your town which expelled you? We Destroyed them and there was no helper for them [47:13]

{14أفمن كان على بنيننة من ربه كمن زين له سوء عمله واتنبنىتوا أهواءه، }So, is one who was upon a clear proof from his Lord like one for whom his evil deed has been adorned for, and they pursue their whims? [47:14]

«. يزلت يف املنافقن»الطربسي: عن أيب جىتفر )عليه السالم(، يف قوله تىتاىل: كمن زين له سوء عمله و اتنبنىتوا أهواءه،

Al Tabarsy –

‘From Abu Ja’farasws – regarding the Words of the Exalted: like one for whom his evil deed has been adorned for, and they pursue their whims? [47:14]: ‘It was Revealed regarding they hypocrites’’.23

VERSE 15

يهننا أينهننار مننن منناء غننري آسننن وأينهننار مننن لننع مل ينتنغينننر ف مننل اجلنننة الننه وعنند المتنقننون ة للكاربن وأينهار من عسل مصفاى ول، فيها من كل المنرات طىتمه وأينهار من خر لذ

، يما فنقطع أمىتاءه، }كمن هو خا ومغفرة من ره {15لد يف النار وسقوا ماء لAn example of the Paradise which the pious are Promised – Therein are rivers of water without stagnation, and rivers of milk the taste of it does not change, and rivers of wine pleasurable for the drinkers, and rivers of clear honey; and

for them therein are from all fruits, and Forgiveness from their Lord. (Are the pious) like the ones who would be eternally in the Fire and Quenched from the scalding water, so it would cut their intestines? [47:15]

ث قننال )عليننه ث قننال شننرف النندين: و منهننا مننا رواه مرفوعننا، عننن ابننن أيب عمننري، عننن لنناد بننن عيسننى، عننن حممنند احللننيب، قننال: ، «مل اجلنة اله وعد المتنقون، و ه، آل حممد و أشياعه،»السالم(:

Then Sharaf Al Deen (Al Najafi) said, ‘And from it is what is reported with an unbroken chain, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hamad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Al Halby who said,

‘Then heasws said: ‘An example of the Paradise which the pious are Promised [47:15] - and theyasws are the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww and theirasws Shias’.

[ أبو جىتفر )عليه السالم(: أما قوله تىتاىل: فيها أهنار، فاهللهنار رجال، و قولنه تىتناىل: منن مناء غنري آسنن فهنوعلي ]قال» ث قال: )عليه السالم( يف الباطن،

Then Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘As for the Words of the Exalted: Therein are rivers - so the rivers are menasws, and the Words of the Exalted: of water without stagnation, so it is Aliasws in the esoteric (Meaning).

ة ل و قوله تىتاىل: و أهنار من لع مل ينتنغينر طىتمه فإيه المام )عليه السالم(، و أما قولنه تىتناىل: لكناربن ، فإينه و أهننار منن خنر لنذ علمه، يتلذذ منه شيىتته،،

And the Words of the Exalted: and rivers of milk the taste of it does not change, so this is the Imamasws, and as for the Words of the Exalted: and rivers of wine pleasurable for the drinkers, so this is theirasws Knowledge, pleasurable for theirasws Shias.

و إنا كن عن الرجال باهللهنار على سبيل اجملاز، أي أمحاال اهللهنار و مله و سئل القرية، فاهلل مة )عليه، السالم( ه، أمحاال «.اجلنة و مالكها

But rather, the teknonyms from the men with the rivers is upon the way of the metaphors, i.e. ‘Companions of the Rivers’, and its example is: And ask the town [12:82]. So the Imamsasws, theyasws are the Companions of the Paradise ( أصحااب الجنح) and their owners’.

Then heasws said: ‘And as for the Words of the Exalted: and Forgiveness from their Lord [47:15] – Wilayah of Amir-al-Momineenasws, i.e., the one who befriends Amir-ul-Momineenasws would have Forgiveness for him from his Lordazwj, so these are Hisazwj Words: and Forgiveness from their Lord [47:15]’.

Then heasws said: ‘(Are the pious) like the ones who would be eternally in the Fire [47:15], i.e., the pious are the ones who are abiding in the Wilayah of the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww, (are they like) the ones who abide in the Wilayah of the enemies of the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww, and this is the Fire. The one who enters it has entered the Fire. Then the Glorious Informs about them: and Quenched from the scalding water, so it would cut their intestines? [47:15]’.24

«.يل، و سيحان، و جيحان ، الفرات: املاء، و النيل: الىتسل، و سيحان: المر، و جيحان: اللعالدييا من اجلنة: الفرات، و الن

Abu Al-Qasim Bin Qulawayh, from his father, from Sa’d Bin Abdullah, from Ahmad bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Isa Ibn Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Umar, son of Ali Bin Abu Talib

Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws has said: ‘The water is the chief of the drinks of the world and the Hereafter. And four rivers in the world are from the Paradise – The Euphrates, the Nile, the Sayhan, and the Jayhan. The Euphrates is the water, and the Nile is the honey, and Sayhan is the wine, and Jayhan is the milk (metaphorically)’.25

قنال رسنول اهلل )منلى ابن بابويه: بإسناده، عن عيسى بن عبد اهلل الامشي، عن أبينه، عنن جنده، عنن علني )علينه السنالم(، قنال:أربىتننة أهنننار مننن اجلنننة: الفننرات، و النيننل، و سننيحان، و جيحننان، فننالفرات: املنناء يف النندييا و ا،خننرة، و النيننل: »اهلل عليننه و آلننه(:

«.و جيحان: اللعالىتسل، و سيحان: المر،

Ibn Babuwayh, by his chain, from Isa Bin Abdullah Al-Hashimy, from his father, from his grandfather,

(Amir-ul-Momineenasws) Aliasws having said: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘Four rivers are from the Paradise – The Euphrates, and the Nile, and Sayhan, and Jayhan. So the Euphrates is the water in the world and the Hereafter, and the Nile is the honey, and Sayhan is the wine, and Jayhan is the milk’.26

فنروة رأسنه فنإذا شنرال قطنع شنوى وجهنه و وقنع مننه و عنن الننيب منلى اللنه علينه و آلنه و سنل، قنال: يقنرال إلينه فيررهنه فنإذا أدىيما فنقطع أمىتاءه، أمىتاؤه حىت يرج من دبره يقول الله عز و جل و سقوا ماء ل

And from the Prophetsaww having said: ‘He (inhabitant of Hell) would come near to it, and he would dislike it. So when he is near to it, his face would be grilled and the scalp of his face would fall off. So when he drinks, it would cut his intestines until

they come out from his behind. Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic is Saying: and Quenched from the scalding water, so it would cut their intestines? [47:15]’’.27

VERSES 16 & 17

ه، من يستمع إليك حىت إذا خرجوا من عندك قالوا للذين أوتوا الىتل، ماذا قال آي فنا ومنن {16أولئك الذين طبع الله على قنلوه، واتنبنىتوا أهواءه، }

And from them are ones who listen intently to you until when they exit from your presence, so they are saying to the one Given the Knowledge, ‘What is that he said just now?’ They are those Allah has Sealed upon their hearts, and they are pursuing their whims [47:16]

{17اده، هدى وآتاه، تنقواه، }والذين اهتدوا ز And those who follow the rightful Guidance, He Increases them in Guidance and Gives them their piety [47:17]

عن -رياو كان خ -حممد بن الىتباس، قال: حدانا ألد بن حممد النوفلي، عن حممد بن عيسى الىتبيدي، عن أيب حممد اهلليصاري[ عننند رسننول اهلل كننا ]يرننون»منبا املننزن، عننن احلنار بننن حصننرية، عنن اهللمننبغ بننن يباتننة، عنن علنني )عليننه السنالم(، أيننه قننال:

«.)ملى اهلل عليه و آله( فينربيا بالوحي، فأعيه أيا دوهن، و اهلل و ما يىتويه، و إذا خرجوا قالوا هب: ماذا قال آيفا

Muhammad Bin Al-Abbas, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al-Nowfaly, from Muhammad Bin Isa Al-Ubeydi, from Abu Muhammad Al-Ansary, from Sabah Al-Mazany, from Al-Haris Bin Haseyra, from Al-Asbagh Bin Nabata, who has narrated:

Aliasws has said: ‘We tended to be in the presence of Rasool-Allahsaww, and hesaww would inform us of the Revelation. Iasws retained it, apart from them, and by Allahazwj, they did not retain it. And when they went out, they said to measws, ‘‘What is that he said just now?’ [47:16]’28

ث قننال شننرف النندين: و منهننا مننا رواه مرفوعننا، عننن ابننن أيب عمننري، عننن لنناد بننن عيسننى، عننن حممنند احللننيب، قننال: قننرأ أبننو عبنند اهلل و الننذين اهتنندوا، بواليننة علنني )عليننه السننالم(، زادهنن، هنندى حينن عننرفه، اهلل مننة )علننيه، السننالم( مننن بىتننده و »)عليننه السننالم(:

«.[ أمايا من النار (، و آتاه، تنقواه، ]أي اواال تقواه،القا ، )عليه السالم

Then Sharaf Al Deen (Al Najafi) said, ‘And from it is what is reported by an unbroken chain, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hamad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Al Halby who said,

‘Abu Abdullahasws: And those who follow the rightful Guidance [47:17] - by the Wilayah of Aliasws, He Increases them in Guidance [47:17] - where they achieve recognition of the Imamsasws from after himsaww and Al-Qaimasws, and Gives them their piety - i.e., the Reward for their piety – security from the Fire’.29

ث قال علي بن إبراهي،: حدانا حممد بن ألد بن اابت، قال: حدانا احلسن بن حممد بن ساعة، عنن وهنب بنن حفني، عنن أيب إن رسول اهلل )ملى اهلل عليه و آله( كان يدعو أمحابه، فمن أراد اهلل »بصري، عن أيب جىتفر )عليه السالم(، قال: سىتته يقول:

قلبه و ال يسمع و ال يىتقل، و من أراد اهلل به شرا طبع على به خريا سع و عرف ما يدعو إليه،

Then Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin Sabit narrated to us, from Al-Hassan Bin Muhammad Bin Sama’at, from Wahab Bin Hafs, from Abu Baseer,

‘I heard Abu Ja’farasws himasws saying: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww used to call hissaww companions, and the one for whom Allahazwj Intended goodness, heard and understood what he was being called to, and the one for whom Allahazwj Intended evil, his heart was sealed, and he neither heard nor understood.

«.لوه، ا،يةقول اهلل تىتاىل: حىت إذا خرجوا من عندك إىل قوله تىتاىل: ما ذا قال آيفا أولئك الذين طبع الله على قن و هو

And these are the Words of Allahazwj the Exalted: until when they exit from your presence, so they are saying to the one Given the Knowledge, ‘What is that he said just now?’ They are those Allah has Sealed upon their hearts, and they are pursuing their whims [47:16]’.30

It has been narrated to us Muhammad Bin Isa, from Abu Muhammad Al-Ansary, from Sabaah Al-

Mazn, from Al-Hars Bin Haseerat Al-Mazny, from Al-Asbagh Bin Nabaata who said:

‘When Aliasws came to Al-Kufa, heasws led them (in Salat) for forty mornings reciting Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Exalted [87:1] (Surah Al-A’ala)’. The hypocrites said, ‘By Allahazwj! It is not best for the sonasws of Abu Talibasws to recite the Quran that heasws recites. It would have been better if heasws had recited with us other than this Chapter’.

قال فبلغه ذلك فقال ويله، اى العرف ياسنه ومنسوخه وحمرمه ومتكاهه وفصله من ومله وحروفه من مىتاييه

That reached himasws. Heasws said: ‘Woe be unto them! Iasws am aware of its Abrogating ones, and its Abrogated ones, and its Decisive ones, and its Allegorical ones, and its Separated ones, and its Linked ones, and its Letters from its meanings.

By Allahazwj, there is no word which Came down upon Muhammadsaww except that Iasws am aware of who it Came down for, and in which day it Came down, and for which subject it Came down.

ويلهن، امنا يقنرأون ان هنذا لفنى الصنحف االوىل منحف ابنراهي، وموسنى واهلل عنندي وراتهنا رسنول اهلل ووراهنا رسنول اهلل مننلى اهلل عليه وآله من ابراهي، وموسى

Woe be unto them! But, are they not reading, Surely this is in the former Parchments [87:18] The Parchments of Ibrahim and Musa [87:19]. By Allahazwj, with measws is the inheritance of Rasool-Allahsaww, and the Rasool-Allahsaww inherited from Ibrahimas and Musaas.

ذا ويله، واهلل اى ايا الذى ايزل اهلل يف وتىتيها اذن واعية فايا كنا عند رسول اهلل فنربيا بالوحى فاعيه ويفوه، فإذا خرجنا قنالوا منا قال ايفا.

Woe be unto them! By Allahazwj, Iasws am the one regarding whomasws Allahazwj Revealed: and the retaining ear will retain it [69:12], for Iasws was with Rasool-Allahsaww, (when) hesaww informed us of the Revelation. Iasws retained it while they missed out on it, when they went out from usasws they said: ‘What is that he said just now?’ [47:16]’’31

VERSE 18

نناعة أن تننأتينه، بنغتننة فنهننل يننظننر فننأى لنن، إذا جنناءتنه، فنقنند جنناء أشننراطها ون إال الس {18ذكراه، }

So, are they only awaiting the Hour that would come to them suddenly? It’s indications have already come, so how would it be for them when their Zikr comes to them? [47:18]

علي بن إبراهي،، قال: حدانا أيب، عن سليمان بنن مسنل، الكناال، عنن عبند اهلل بنن جنريح املرني، عنن عطناء بنن أيب رينا ، عنن ث أقبننل علينننا عبنند اهلل بننن عبنناس، قننال: حججنننا مننع رسننول اهلل )مننلى اهلل عليننه و آلننه( حجننة الننودا ، فأخننذ لقننة بنناال الرىتبننة،

فقنالوا: بلنى ينا رسنول -[ يومئذ سلمان )رلة اهلل علينه( و كان أدى الناس ]منه -«.أال أخربك، بأشراط الساعة »بوجهه، فقال: اهلل،

Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘My father narrated to me, from Suleyman Bin Muslim Al-Khashaab, from Abdullah Bin Jareeh Al-Makky, from Ata’a Bin Abu Riyah,

Abdullah Bin Abbas who said, ‘We were on Hajj with Rasool-Allahsaww during the Farewell Hajj, when hesaww grabbed hold of the Door of the Kabah, then turned towards us by hissaww face and said: ‘Shall Isaww inform you all with the Signs of the Hour?’ And the nearest to himsaww on that day was Salmanra, so hera said, ‘Yes, O Rasool-Allahsaww!’

مننن أشننراط السنناعة إضنناعة الصننالة ، و اتبننا الكننهوات، و امليننل إىل اهللهننواء و تىتظنني، أمننحاال »فقننال )مننلى اهلل عليننه و آلننه(: «. املال، و بيع الدين بالدييا، فىتندها يذاال قلب املعمن يف جوفه كما يذاال امللح باملاء، مما يرى من املنرر فال يستطيع أن يغريه

Hesaww said: ‘From the Signs of the Hour is wasting of the Salat (not being prayed), and pursuing the lusts, and the tendency towards the (personal) desires, and reverence for the owners of the wealth, and selling of the Religion for the (sake of the) world. So, during it, the heart of the Momin would melt from his inside, just like salt melts in the water, from what he would be seeing from the evil, and he would not have the ability to change it’.

«.إي و الذي يفسي بيده قال سلمان: و إن هذا لرا ن، يا رسول اهلل قال:

Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

فقال سلمان: و إن هذا لرا ن، يا رسنول اهلل «. ناء خويةيا سليمان، إن عندها أمراء جورة و وزراء فسقة، و عرفاء ظلمة، و أم إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»فقال )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(:

O Salmanra! During it the rich would be inequitable, and the ministers immoral, and the officers unjust, and the trustees embezzlers’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

يننا سننلمان إن عننندها يرننون املنرننر مىتروفننا، و املىتننروف منرننرا، و يننعتن الننا ن، و يننون اهللمننن، و يصنندق الرنناذال، و يرننذال إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»ول اهلل قال )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(: قال سلمان: و إن هذا لرا ن، يا رس«. الصادق

O Salmanra! During it the evil would be considered good, and good as evil, and the trustworthy as embezzlers and the embezzlers as trustworthy, and the truthful as a liar, and a liar as a truthful’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

يا سلمان فىتندها ترون إمارة النساء، و مكناورة المناء، و قىتنود الصنبيان علنى املننابر، و يرنون الرنذال ظرفنا، و الزكناة مغرمنا، و قننال سننلمان: و إن هننذا لرننا ن، يننا رسننول اهلل «. و جيفننو الرجننل والديننه، و يننرب مننديقه، و يطلننع الروكننب املننذيب ء مغنمننا، الفنني إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»قال:

O Salmanra! So during it, the women would be in high positions, and the slave girls would be consulted, and the young would ascend the Pulpits, and lying would become common, and Zakat regarded as a tax, and Al-Fey as a gain, and the man would abandon his parents and respect his friend (instead), and the sinful planet

would emerge’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

يا سلمان، و عندها تكنارك املنرأة زوجهنا يف التجنارة، و يرنون املطنر قيظنا، و يغنا الرنرام غيظنا، و يتقنر الرجنل املىتسنر، فىتنندها قنال سنلمان: و إن هنذا لرنا ن، «. تقارال اهللسواق، إذا قال هذا: مل أبع شيئا، و قال هذا: مل أربح ]شيئا[، فال ترى إال ذاما هلل

ي و الذي يفسي بيده.إ»يا رسول اهلل قال:

O Salmanra! And during it, the person would associate his wife in the business, and rains would be in mid-summer, and the nobles would be enraged with a rage, and the man would despise the insolvent (man). During it the markets would be approached. This one would say, ‘I did not sell anything’, and this one would say, ‘I did not gain anything’, You will not see anything except them blaming Allahazwj’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

يننا سننلمان، فىتننندها يلننيه، أقننوام إن ترلمننوا قتلننوه، و إن سننرتوا اسننتباحوه،، ليسننتأاروا بفيننئه،، و ليطننعن حننرمته،، و ليسننفرن قننال سنلمان: و إن هننذا لرننا ن، يننا «. دمناءه،، و لننتمقن قلننوه، دغنال و رعبننا، فننال تنراه، إال و جلننن خننا فن مرعنوبن مرهننوبن

بيده.إي و الذي يفسي »رسول اهلل قال:

O Salmanra! So, during it, if the people speak out, they would be killed, and if they remain silent, they would be considered neutral, their privacies would be invaded and their blood would be shed, and their hearts would be filled with corruption and terror. So you will not see them except as frightened, and terrified and scared’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

من املغرال يلون أمه، فالويل لنىتفاء أمه مننه،، و الوينل لن، منن اهلل، ال ء ء من املكرق و شي يا سلمان، إن عندها يعتى بكيقال سنلمان: و «. ء، جته، جة ا،دمين، و قلوه، قلوال الكياطن يرلون مغريا، و ال يوقرون كبريا، و ال يتجاوزون عن مسي

إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»إن هذا لرا ن، يا رسول اهلل قال:

O Salmanra! During it, a thing would be brought from the East, and a thing from the West to colour mysaww community, so woe be unto the weak ones of mysaww community among them, and the woe be unto them from Allahazwj. They will not be merciful to the young ones, nor would they respect the elders, nor would they forgive the harm. Their bodies would be the bodies of the human beings and their hearts would be of the devils’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

يننا سننلمان، و عننندها يرتفنني الرجننال بالرجننال، و النسنناء بالنسنناء، و يغننار علننى الغلمننان كمننا يغننار علننى اجلاريننة يف بيننت أهلهننا، و قننال سننلمان: و إن هننذا «.تكننبه الرجننال بالنسنناء و النسنناء بالرجننال، و يننركع ذوات الفننروج السننروج، فىتلننيهن مننن أمننه لىتنننة اهلل

إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»، يا رسول اهلل قال: لرا ن

O Salmanra! And during it, the man would be satisfied by the man, and the woman by the woman, and he would be covetous of the male servant just like he was covetous

of the female servant in his family home, and the man would resemble the woman, and the woman would resemble the man, and they with the openings (women) would ride the saddles, so upon these women from mysaww community is the Curse of Allahazwj!’ Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

يننا سننلمان إن عننندها تزخننرف املسنناجد كمننا تزخننرف البيننع و الرنننا س، و الننى املصنناحف، و تطننول املنننارات، و ترننر الصننفوف إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»قال سلمان: و إن هذا لرا ن، يا رسول اهلل قال: «. بقلوال متباغنة و ألسن خمتلفة

O Salmanra! During it, the Masjids would be decorated, as if for sale and like the Churches, and the Qurans would be sweetened, and the Minarets would be tall, and the rows (for Salats) would increase with the hostile hearts and differing tongues’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

قنال سنلمان: و إن «.يا سلمان، و عندها الى ذكور أمه بالذهب و يلبسون احلرير و الديباج، و يتنذون جلود النمنور منفاقا إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»هذا لرا ن، يا رسول اهلل قال:

O Salmanra! And during it, mysaww community would be mentioned by the gold and their wearing of the silk and brocade, and they would be taking to the tiger skins for rugs’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

قنال سنلمان: و إن هنذا لرنا ن، ينا « الرشنا، و يوضنع الندين، و ترفنع الندييا يا سلمان، و عندها يظهر الربا. و يتىتناملون بالىتيننة و إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»رسول اهلل قال:

O Salmanra! And during it, usury would be apparent, and they would be working on forward selling and the bribery, and they would put down the Religion and raise the world’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

قنال: قال سنلمان: و إن هنذا لرنا ن، ينا رسنول اهلل «. يا سلمان، و عندها يرر الطالق، فال يقام هلل حد، و لن ينر اهلل شيئا إي و الذي يفسي بيده.

O Salmanra! And during it there would be numerous divorces, and the Legal Punishments (of the Law) would not be established for the Sake of Allahazwj, and they will not be able to do any harm to Allahazwj’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

قنال )منلى قنال سنلمان: و إن هنذا لرنا ن، ينا رسنول اهلل «. يا سلمان، و عندها تظهر القينات و املىتازف، و يليه، شنرار أمنه إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»اهلل عليه و آله(:

O Salmanra! And during it, there will appear singing and musical instruments, and it would be pursued by the evil ones of mysaww community’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is

to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

يننا سننلمان، و عننندها انن أغنينناء أمننه للنزهننة، و انن أوسنناطها للتجننارة، و انن فقراؤهننا للرينناء و السننمىتة، فىتننندها يرننون أقننوام يتىتلمننون القننرآن لغننري اهلل، فيتنذويننه مننزامري، و يرننون أقننوام يتفقهننون لغننري اهلل، و ترننر أوالد الزيننا و يتغنننون بننالقرآن، و يتهننافتون

إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»: و إن هذا لرا ن، يا رسول اهلل قال )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(: قال سلمان«. بالدييا

O Salmanra! And during it, the rich ones would go on Hajj for pleasure, and the middle class for the business, and the poor ones for the showing off and to be named (as Haajis). So during it, the people would be learning the Quran for other than Allahazwj, and they would be taking to wind instruments, and the people would be pondering for other than Allahazwj, and the sons of adultery would be numerous, and they would be singing with the Quran, and they would be scrambling for the world’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

ينا سننلمان، ذاك إذا ايتهرنت احملننارم، و اكتسنبت املننطث، و تسننلط اهللشنرار علننى اهللخينار، و يفكننو الرنذال، و تظهننر اللجاجننة، و تفكو الفاقة، و يتباهون يف اللباس، و ميطرون يف غري أوان املطر، و يستحسنون الروبة، و املىتازف، و ينررون اهللمنر بناملىتروف و

ملعمن يف ذلك الزمان أذل من اهللمة، و يظهر قراؤه، و عباده، فيما بينه، التالوم، فأولئك يدعون النهي عن املنرر، حىت يرون اإي و »قال سلمان: و إن هذا لرا ن، يا رسول اهلل قال )ملى اهلل عليه و آلنه(: «. يف ملروت السماوات اهللرجاس و اهللجناس

الذي يفسي بيده.

O Salmanra! That is when incest would be violated, and the sins would be acquired, and the evil ones would overcome the good ones, and the lying would be widespread, and obstinacy would be apparent, and hunger would be widespread, and there would be boasting regarding the dress, and it would be raining in other than the time for the rains, and the string instruments would be favoured, and the musical instruments, and the enjoining of the good would be disliked along with the prohibiting of the evil, to the extent that the believer of that era would be the most humiliated one of the community, and their reciters and their worshippers would blame each other, so these are the ones who would be referred to in the Kingdoms of the skies are the dirty and the impure’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

قنال «. يا سلمان، فىتندها ال يكى الغين اال الفقري، حىت إن السا ل يسأل فيما بن اجلمىتتن ال يصيب أحدا ينع يف كفنه شنيئا إي و الذي يفسي بيده.»سلمان: و إن هذا لرا ن، يا رسول اهلل قال )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(:

O Salmanra! So, during it, the rich would not be afraid of the poor, to the extent that he would ask in what is between the two groups, no one would place anything in his hand’. Salmanra said, ‘And this is to happen, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, by the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul’.

قال سلمان: و ما الرويبنة، يا رسول اهلل فداك أيب و امي، قال )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(: «. ، و عندها يترل، الرويبنةيا سلمانيننترل، يف أمننر الىتامنننة مننن مل يرننن ينننترل،، فلنن، يلبنننوا إال قلننيال حننىت نننور اهللر خننورة، فنننال يظننن كننل قنننوم إال أهنننا خنننارت يف »

«.رون يف مره، فتلقي ل، اهللر أفالذ كبدهاياحيته،، فيمرون ما شاء اهلل، ث مي

O Salmanra! And during it ‘Al-Ruweyza’ would speak’. Salmanra said, ‘May myra father and mother be sacrificed for yousaww, and what is ‘Al-Ruweyza’, O Rasool-Allahsaww?’ Hesaww said: ‘He will speak, the one who did not speak in public matters. So this will not remain as such until the earth is routed with a weakness, and every community would think that it has weakened in their area only. This would remain as such for as long as Allahazwj so Desires it to, then they would remain in their situation, so the earth would give to them pieces of its interior’.

«. مل هذا، فيومئذ ال ينفع ذهب و ال فنة»ث أومأ بيده إىل اهللساطن، فقال: «. ذهب و فنة»قال:

Hesaww said: ‘Gold and silver’. Then hesaww gestured by hissaww hand to the two sleeves, so hesaww said: ‘Similar to this. But, on that Day neither gold nor the silver would be of benefit’.

فهذا مىتن قوله تىتاىل: فنقد جاء أشراطها.

So this is the Meaning of the Words of the Exalted: It’s indications have already come [47:18]’.32

VERSE 19

واللنننه ينىتلننن، متنقلنننبر، منننعمنن والمعمننننات فننناعل، أينننه ال إلنننه إال اللنننه واسنننتنغفر لنننذيبك ولل {19ومنواك، }

So know that there is no god except Allah, and seek Forgiveness for your sin and for the Momineen and the Mominaat; and Allah Knows the place of your returning and the place of your abiding [47:19]

Tawheed

(Imam) Al-Rezaasws has said: ‘The example of the repentance is similar to the leaves upon a tree, which, when shaken, they fall off. And the repenting one from the sin, when he commits it (repeatedly) is like one who is mocking his Lordazwj’.33

قنال: ملنا واىف أبنو احلسنن الرضنا علينه السنالم ييكنابور واراد ان ينرج منهنا إىل املنأمون أجتمنع إلينه وباسناده إىل اسحاق بنن راهوينه امحاال احلدي فقالوا: يابن رسول اهلل ترحل عنا وال ادانا دي فنستفيده منك

And by his chain going up to Is’haq Bin Rahawiya who said, ‘When Abu Al-Hassan Al-Rezaasws was going to Neyshabour, and intended to come out from it to go to Al-Ma’moun, the companions (narrators) of the Hadeeth gathered around himasws, so they said, ‘O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww! Youasws are going away from us and why don’t youasws narrate to us a Hadeeth so we can benefit by it from youasws’.

وكان قىتد يف الىتمارية فاطلع راسه وقال: سىتت أىب موسى بن جىتفر يقول: سىتت اىب جىتفر بن حممد يقول: سىتت اىب حممد بن على يقول: سىتت اىب على بن احلسن يقول. سىتت اىب احلسن بن على يقول: سىتت اىب أمري املعمنن على بن اىب طالب عليه

And heasws was seated in the carriage, so hisasws head emerged from it, and heasws said: ‘Iasws heard myasws fatherasws Musaasws Bin Ja’farasws saying, ‘Iasws heard it from myasws fatherasws Ja’farasws Bin Muhammadasws saying, ‘Iasws heard myasws fatherasws Muhammadasws Bin Aliasws saying, ‘Iasws heard myasws fatherasws Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws saying, ‘Iasws heard myasws fatherasws Al-Husaynasws Bin Aliasws saying, ‘Iasws heard myasws fatherasws Amir-ul-Momineenasws Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws saying: ‘Iasws heard Rasool-Allahsaww saying:

سىتنننت جرب ينننل يقنننول: سىتنننت اهلل يقنننول: ال النننه اال اهلل حصنننن فمنننن دخنننل حصنننن امنننن منننن عنننذايب، فلمنننا منننرت الراحلنننة ينننادى: بكروطها و ايا بكروطها.

‘Isaww heard Jibraeelas saying: ‘Ias heard Allahazwj Saying: “There is no god except Allahazwj (The Phrase) is Myazwj Fort. So the one who enters Myazwj Fort is safe from Myazwj Punishment”. So when the camel passed by, heasws called out: ‘(It is), however, with conditions, and Iasws am (one of) its conditions’.34

Mikaeelas, from Israfeelas, from the (Guarded) Tablet, from The Pen ( القلح) having Said: ‘Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic is Saying: “Wilayah Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws is Myazwj Fort, so the one who enters Myazwj Fort is safe from Myazwj Punishment’.35

وىف باال ما جاء عن الرضا من أخبار هذه اجملموعة قال: قال رسول اهلل ملى اهلل عليه واله التوحيد يصف الدين.

And in the chapter of what has come from Al-Rezaasws and this is its summary – Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The Tawheed (التوايد) is half the Religion’.36

Seeking Forgiveness

الوليد الومايف، رفىتنه، قنال: حممد بن يىتقوال: بإسناده عن الفنيل بن عبد الوهاال، عن إسحاق بن عبيد اهلل، عن عبيد اهلل بنيض من قال ال إله إال اهلل، غرست له شجرة يف اجلنة من ياقوتة لراء، يبتها يف مسك أب»قال رسول اهلل )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(:

«.أحلى من الىتسل، و أشد بياضا من الل ، و أطيب ريا من املسك، فيها أمال ادي اهللبرار، تفلق عن سبىتن حلة

Muhammad Bin Yaqoub, by his chain from Al-Fazeyl Bin Abdul Wahab, from Is’haq Bin Ubeydullah, from Ubeydullah Bin Al-Waleed Al-Wasafy, with an unbroken chain, said,

‘Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The one who says ‘There is no god except Allahazwj, a tree of red rubies is planted for him in the Paradise, in (ground of) musk whiter and sweeter than honey, and more intensely white than the snow, and more fragrant than the musk. In it are similar to the bosom of the virgins, would be visible from behind seventy veils’.

عنز خري الىتبادة االستغفار، و ذلك قول اهلل»و قال: « خري الىتبادة قول ال إله إال اهلل»و قال رسول اهلل )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(: «.أيه ال إله إال الله و استنغفر لذيبك و جل يف كتابه: فاعل،

And Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The best of worship is to say ‘There is no god except Allahazwj’. The best worship is the Repentance, and these are the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic in Hisazwj Book: So know that there is no god except Allah, and seek Forgiveness for your sin [47:19]’.37

‘Abu Abdullahasws has narrated that Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The repentance, and the saying that there is no god except for Allahazwj, are the best of the worship. Allahazwj the Mighty, the Compeller Said: So know that there is no god except Allah, and seek Forgiveness for your sin [47:19]’.38

إن رسنول »و عنه: عن حممد بن يي، عن ألد بن حممد، عن ابن فنال، عن ابن برري، عن أيب عبد اهلل )عليه السالم(، قال: «.اهلل )ملى اهلل عليه و آله( كان يتوال إىل اهلل يف كل يوم سبىتن مرة من غري ذيب

And from him, from Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Fazal, from Ibn Bakeyr,

‘Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww used to repent to Allahazwj seventy times every day, without having sinned’.39

And from him, from Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al-Nowfaly, from Al-Sakuny,

from Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The best of supplications, is repentance’.40

و عنه: عن حممد بن يي، عن ألد بن حممد بن عيسى، عن حممد بن سنان، عن عمار بن مروان، قال: قال أبو عبد اهلل )عليه سبىتما ة [ يوم، غفر اهلل له سبىتما ة ذيب، و ال خري يف عبد يذيب يف كل يوم من قال: أستغفر اهلل، ما ة مرة يف ]كل»السالم(:

«.ذيب

A from him, from Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Amaar Bin Marwan who said,

‘Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘The one who says ‘I seek Forgiveness from Allahazwj’ a hundred times every day, Allahazwj would Forgive seven hundred sins for (أسحتففر ه)him. And there is no good in a servant who sins (more than) seven hundred every day’.41

‘Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘The Momin commits a sin and remembers it after twenty years, so he seeks Forgiveness from Allahazwj and Heazwj Forgives him. But rather, he remembers it, and Heazwj Forgives it for him. And if the Kafir commits a sin, so he forgets about it from the same moment’.42

VERSES 20 - 23

رأينت فإذا أيزلت سورة حمرمة وذكنر فيهنا القتنال وينقول الذين آمنوا لوال ينزلت سورة {20فأوىل ل، } ه من الموت الذين يف قنلوه، مر يننظرون إليك يظر المغكي علي

And those who believe are saying: ‘If only a Chapter would be Revealed!’ But when a Decisive Chapter is Revealed, and fighting is mentioned therein, you see those in whose hearts is a disease looking at you with the look of one fainting from the death. Woe unto them! [47:20]

را ل، } طاعة وقنول مىتروف { 21فإذا عزم اهللمر فنلو مدقوا الله لران خينObedience and a gentle word (is better), so when the matter is determined, had they ratified Allah it would have been better for them [47:21]

{22فنهل عسيت، إن تنوليت، أن تنفسدوا يف اهللر وتنقطىتوا أرحامر، }So if perhaps you were to be rulers, you would make mischief in the land and cut off your relationships [47:22]

{23أولئك الذين لىتننه، الله فأممه، وأعمى أبصاره، }They are those Allah has Cursed, so He Made Deafened them and Blinded their visions [47:23]

And by this chain, from Abaan, from Abdul Rahmaan Bin Abu Abdullah, from Abu Al-Abbas Al-Makky who said:

‘I heard Abu Ja’farasws saying that: ‘Umar met Aliasws, so he said to himasws, ‘Youasws are the one who is reciting this Verse: Which one of you is bewitched [68:6], and applying it to me and to my companion’.

وا يف اهللر و تنقطىتوا أرحامر، قال فنقال له أ فال أخربك بطية ينزلت يف بين أمية فنهل عسيت، إن تنوليت، أن تنفسد

Heasws said: ‘So heasws said to him: ‘Shall I inform you of a Verse which has Descended about the Clan of Umayya: So if perhaps you were to be rulers, you would make mischief in the land and cut off your relationships [47:22]?’

للرح، منك و لرنك أبنيت إال عداوة لبين تني، و بين عدي و بين أمية.فنقال كذبت بننو أمية أومل

He said, ‘Youasws are lying. The clan of Umayya are better at maintaining relations than youasws are, but youasws refuse to do anything except being inimical to the clan of Taym (Abu Bakr’s tribe), and the clan of Ady (Umar’s tribe), and the clan of Umayya (Muawiya’s tribe)’.43

و عنه: عن عدة من أمحابنا، عن سهل بن زياد، عن عمرو بن عمان، عن حممد بن عذافر، عن بىتض أمحابه، عن حممد بن -يف حدي فيه -قال علي بن احلسن )عليهما السالم(»أيب عبداهلل، عن أبيه )عليهما السالم(، قال: مسل،، أو أيب لزة، عن

And from him, from a number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Amro bin Usman, from Muhammad Bin Azafar, from one of his companions, from Muhammad Bin Muslim, or Abu Hamza,

‘Abu Abdullahasws, from hisasws fatherasws having said: ‘Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws – in a Hadeeth in which heasws said: ‘And beware of accompanying the one who severs the ties of kinship, for Iasws have found him to be Cursed in the Book of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic, in three places. Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Said: So if perhaps you were to be rulers, you would make mischief in the land and cut off your relationships [47:22] They are those Allah has Cursed, so He Made Deafened them and Blinded their visions [47:23].

قنون عهد الله من بنىتد مياقه و ينقطىتون ما أمر الله به أن يومل و ينفس دون يف اهللر أولئك ل، اللىتنة و ل، و قال: الذين يننن ار، سوء الد

And Said: And those who are breaking the Pact of Allah from after its Covenanting and are cutting off relationships what Allah has Commanded with to be maintained, and they are corrupting in the land. They, for them is the Curse and for them would be the evil abode [13:25].

And Said in (Surah) Al-Baqra: Those who are breaking the Pact of Allah from after Covenanting it and are cutting asunder what Allah has Commanded to be joined, and are making mischief in the land; those are the losers [2:27]’’.44

The Altered Verse

يف )تفسريه( يف تأوينل هنذه السنورة، قنال: حنداين أيب، عنن إساعينل روى الكيخ شرف الدين النجفي، قال: ذكر علي بن إبراهي،فنهنل »و قرأ أبو عبد اهلل )عليه السالم( هذه ا،ينة هرنذا: بن مرار، عن حممد بن الفنيل، عن أيب عبد اهلل )عليه السالم(، قال:

و تنقطىتوا أرحامر،، يزلت يف بين عمنا بين عباس و بين أمية، : أن تنفسدوا يف اهللر و سلطت، و ملرت،عسيت، إن تنوليت،.

Al-Skeykh Sharaf Al-Deen Najafy has reported that Ali Bin Ibrahim has mentioned in his Tafseer (Qummi) in the explanation of this Chapter saying that it was to him by his father, from Ismail Bin Marar, from Muhammad Bin Al-Fazeyl, who said,

‘And Abu Abdullah asws recited this Verse like this: So if perhaps you were to be rulers, and overcome and possess kingdom, you would make mischief in the land and cut off your relationships [47:22], it was Revealed regarding the clan of Amna, and clan of Abbas, and clan of Umayya.

من احلق أم أولئك الذين لىتننه، الله فأممه، و أعمى أبصاره، أ فال ينتدبنرون القرآن، فيقنوا ما عليه، و فيه، يقول اهلل تىتاىل: «.لوال أقفالاعلى قن

And it is regarding them that Allahazwj the Exalted is Saying: They are those Allah has Cursed, so He Made Deafened them and Blinded their visions [47:23] So do they not ponder on the Quran - So they eliminated what was against them from the Truth, or are there locks upon (their) hearts [47:24]’.45

Then Sharaf Al-Deen said, ‘And from it is what has been reported with an unbroken chain, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hamaad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Al-Halby who said,

‘Abu Abdullahasws recited: So if perhaps you were to be rulers, and overcome and possess kingdom, you would make mischief in the land and cut off your relationships [47:22], then said: ‘This Verse was Revealed regarding the clan of Amna, clan of Abbas, and clan of Umayya’.46

VERSE 24

{24أفال ينتدبنرون القرآن أم على قنلوال أقنفالا }So do they not ponder on the Quran, or are there locks upon (their) hearts [47:24]

ل أبو عبد اهلل عليه السالم: يا سليمان إن لك قلبا ومسامع،عنه، عن عبد اهلل بن هكام بن سامل، عن سليمان بن خالد قال: قا

وإن اهلل إذا أراد أن يهدى عبدا فتح مسامع قلبه، وإذا أراد به غري ذلك خت، مسامع قلبه فال يصلح أبدا، وهو قول اهلل عزوجل " أم على قلوال أقفالا "

From him, from Abdullah Bin Hisham Bin Salim, from Suleyman Bin Khalid who said,

‘Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘O Suleyman! Verily for your heart is a hearing. And when Allahazwj Intends to Guide a servant, (Allahazwj) Opens the hearing of his heart. And when Heazwj Intends with him other than that, (Allahazwj) Seals the hearing of his heart, so he would not be correct, ever. And these are the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic: So do they not ponder on the Quran, or are there locks upon (their) hearts [47:24]’.47

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Ismail Bin Mahran, from Ubeys Bin Hisham, from the one who mentioned it,

‘Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘The reciters of the Quran are three – A man who recites the Quran, so he takes it as a merchandise in order to attract the rulers and dominate the people by it. And a man who recites the Quran, so he memorises its letters but wastes its Limits, so his standing is the standing of the slander. Iasws wish Allahazwj would not Make these type who bear the Quran to be numerous. And a man who recites the Quran, so he places the medicine of the Quran upon the sickness of his heart, so he is vigilant with it at night, and endures thirst due to it during the day, and stands by it in his Masjid, and forsakes his bed for it.

فباولئك يدفع اهلل الىتزيز اجلبار البالء وباولئك يديل اهلل عزوجل من االعداء وباولئك ينزل اهلل عزوجل الغي من السماء فو اهلل ء القرآن أعز من الرربيت االلر.لعالء يف قرا

So it is by these (type of reciters) that Allahazwj the Mighty the Compeller Repulses the afflictions, and it is by these that Allahazwj Defends against the enemies, and it is

by these that Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Sends down the rains from the sky. So, by Allahazwj, these ones among the reciters of the Quran are more cherished than red rubies’.48

(It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Amir Al-Momineenasws said: ‘Shall Iasws inform you all with the understanding one who is truly an understanding one? (It is) the one who does not despair the people from the Mercy of Allahazwj, and does not liberate them from the Punishment of Allahazwj, and does not permit for them to be in the disobedience of Allahazwj, and does not neglect the Quran, turning away from it to something else.

اءة ليس فيها تدبنر أال ال خينر يف عبادة ليس فيها تنفرر أال ال خينر يف عل، ليس فيه تنفه، أال ال خينر يف قر

Indeed! There is no goodness in a knowledge wherein there is no understanding. Indeed! There is no goodness in the recitation (of the Quran) wherein there is no pondering. Indeed! There is no goodness in a worship there being no thinking in it’.

And in another report, (Heasws said): ‘Indeed! There is no goodness in a knowledge wherein there is no understanding. Indeed! There is no goodness in a recitation (of the Quran) wherein there is no pondering. Indeed! There is no goodness in a worship there being no thinking in it. There is no goodness in a ritual, there being no piety in it’.49

(The book) Kanz Al Fawaid of Al Karajuki –

‘It is mentioned that Abu Haneefa ate a meal with the Imam Sadiq Ja’far Bin Muhammadasws. So when heasws raised hisasws hand from eating, heasws said: ‘The Praise is for Allahazwj, Lordazwj ow the worlds. O Allahazwj! Surely this is from Youazwj and from Yourazwj Rasoolsaww’.

فنقال أبو حنيفة يا أبا عبد الله أ جىتلت مع الله شريرا

So Abu Haneefa said, ‘O Abu Abdullahasws! Are youasws making (Rasool-Allahsaww) to be as an associate with Allahazwj?’

Heasws said to him: ‘Woe be unto you! Surely Allahazwj the Exalted is Saying in Hisazwj Book: ‘and they hated except if Allah and His Rasool was to Enrich them from His Grace [9:74]. And Heazwj is Saying in another place: And if only they had been pleased with what Allah and His Rasool gave them, and they should be saying: ‘Allah is Sufficient for us; Allah will soon Give us from His Grace and (so would) His Rasool [9:59]’.

ىتتنهما إال يف هذا الوقت فنقال أبو حنيفة و الله لرأن ما قن رأتنهما قط من كتاال الله و ال س

So Abu Haneefa said, ‘By Allahazwj! It is as if I had not read these two (Verses) at all from the Book of Allahazwj nor heard them (before), except during this time!’

Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘Yes, you have read and heard them both, but Allahazwj the Exalted Revealed regarding you and regarding the likes of you: So do they not ponder on the Quran, or are there locks upon (their) hearts [47:24]. And Heazwj Said: Never! But, it has rusted upon their hearts, what they had been earning [83:14]’’.51

Surely, those who turned back upon their back from after the Guidance having become clarified to them, the Satan had enticed for them and dictated to them [47:25]

لك بأينه، قالوا للذين كرهوا ما ينزل الله سنطيىتر، يف بنىتض اهللمر والله ينىتلن، إسنراره، ذ{26}

That is because they said to those who abhorred what Allah Revealed, ‘We shall obey you in some of the matters’, and Allah Knows their secrets [47:26]

Abu Abdullahasws regarding the Words of the Exalted: Surely those who turned back upon their back from after the Guidance having become clarified to them, the Satan had enticed for them and dictated to them [47:25], heasws said: ‘So and so, and so and so, and so and so (Abu Bakr, and Umar, and Usman) turned back from the Eman (became apostates) by leaving the Wilayah of Amir-Al-Momineenasws’.

I said, ‘(What about) the Words of the Exalted: That is because they said to those who abhorred what Allah Revealed, ‘We shall obey you in some of the matters’, and Allah Knows their secrets [47:26]?’

Heasws said: ‘It was Revealed regarding the two of them (Abu Bakr and Umar), and regarding the ones who followed both of them, and these are the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic which Jibraeelas descended with upon Muhammadsaww: That is because they said to those who abhorred what Allah Revealed - regarding

اقه، أال يصريوا اهللمر فينا بىتد النيب )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(، و ال يىتطويا من المس شيئا، و قالوا: دعوا بين أمية إىل مي»قال: ء، و مل يبالوا أن ال يرون اهللمر فيه،، فقالوا: سنطيىتر، يف بىتض اهللمر الذي دعوتويا إليه، إن أعطيناه، إياه مل يتاجوا إىل شي

Heasws said: ‘The Clan of Umayya called to their covenant, that they will never let the command to be among usasws after the Prophetsaww, nor did they give to usasws anything from the Khums, and said, ‘We will not give to themasws who are not needy for anything’, and they did not even care if the command were not to be among them, so they said, ‘We shall obey you in some of the matters’, which you are calling us to, and it is Al-Khums that we will not give to themasws anything of.

ينزل الله، و الذي يزل اهلل ما افت على خلقه من والية أمري املعمنن )عليه السالم(، و كان مىته، أبو و قوله تىتاىل: كرهوا ما .«ه، و جنواه، ا،يةعبيدة، و كان كاتبه،، فأيزل اهلل عز و جل: أم أبنرموا أمرا فإيا مربمون أم يسبون أيا ال يسمع سر

And the Exalted Said: abhorred what Allah Revealed [47:26] - and this is which Allahazwj Revealed what Heazwj Obligated upon Hisazwj creatures from the Wilayah of Amir-al-Momineenasws. And among them was Abu Ubeyda, and he was their scribe, so Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Revealed: Or are they reckoning that We cannot Hear their secrets and their whisperings? Yes! And our Messengers (who are) with them, are recording [43:80]’.52

Abu Abdullahasws regarding the Words of the Exalted: Surely those who turned back upon their back – from the Eman by their neglecting the Wilayah of Amir-ul-Momineenasws - the Satan had enticed for them and dictated to them [47:25] – (Satanla meaning the second one (Umar)’.

of the matters’, heasws said: ‘Leave the clan of Umayya upon their covenant if the command does not come to be for us after the Prophetsaww’, and they did not give us anything from the Khums, and they said, ‘If we were to give themasws the Khums, they would become needless with it’.

يئا، فأيزل اهلل تبارك و تىتاىل على يبيه )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(: أم فقالوا: سنطيىتر، يف بىتض اهللمر، أي ال تىتطوه، من المس ش «.، يرتبون أبنرموا أمرا فإيا مربمون أم يسبون أيا ال يسمع سره، و جنواه، بلى و رسلنا لديه

And they said, ‘We shall obey them (the clan of Umayya) in some of the matters, i.e. ‘We shall give them something from the Khums’. Therefore Allahazwj Blessed and Exalted Revealed unto Hisazwj Prophetsaww: Or are they (trying to) conclude a matter? But We are the Concluders [43:79] Or are they reckoning that We cannot Hear their secrets and their whisperings? Yes! And our Messengers (who are) with them, are recording [43:80]’’. 53

But how would it be when the Angels cause them to die, striking their faces and their backs? [47:27]

Muhammad Bin Al-Abbas, from Ali Bin Abdullah, from Ibrahim Bin Muhammad, from Ismail Bin Yasaar, from Ali Bin Ja’far Al-Hazramy, from Jabir Bin Yazeed who said,

‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic: That is because they follow what Angers Allah and abhor His Pleasure, therefore He Nullified their deeds [47:28], heasws said: ‘They hated Aliasws, and Aliasws was the Pleasure of Allahazwj and the pleasure of Hisazwj Rasoolsaww. Allahazwj Commanded for the Wilayah of Aliasws on the Day of Badr, and the Day of Hunayn, and under the Palm tree on the Day of Al-Tarwiyya. Twenty two Verses were Revealed with regards to it in rebuttal of the argument in which Rasool-Allahsaww closed (the doors) from the Sacred Masjid at Al-Johfa and at Khumm’.56

The Anger and the Pleasure of Allahazwj

لله ) عليه السالم ( ذي سأل أبا عبد اعلي بن إبنراهي، عن أبيه عن الىتباس بن عمرو عن هكام بن احلر، يف حدي الزيديق ال فران من سعاله أن قال له فنله رضا و سنط

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al Abbas Bin Amro,

(It has been narrated) from Hisham Bin Al-Hakam in a Hadeeth of the atheist who questioned Abu Abdullahasws. So, it was from his questions that he said to himasws, ‘So, for Himazwj is Pleasure and Anger?’

ه أن الرضا حال تدخل علي فنقال أبو عبد الله ) عليه السالم ( ينىت، و لرن ليس ذلك على ما يوجد من المنلوقن و ذلك قله من حال إىل حال هللن المنلوق أجوف مىتتمل مركب لقشياء فيه مدخل و خالق نا ال مدخل لقشياء فيه هلليه واحد فنتننن

So Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘Yes, but that is not upon what is found from the creatures, and that is because the pleasure is a state entered upon, so you would be transferred from a state into a state, because the creature is hollow, active, compound of the things. In him is an entrance, and our Creator has no entrance for the things in Himazwj, because Heazwj is the Oneazwj. The Oneazwj in the Self and One in the Meaning.

قله من حال فرضاه انوابه و سنطه عقابه من غري شي إىل حال هللن ذلك من مفة المنلوقن الىتاجزين ء ينتداخله فنينهيجه و يننن المحتاجن .

Thus, Hisazwj Pleasure is Hisazwj Rewarding, and Hisazwj Anger is Hisazwj Punishment from without anything having entered Himazwj, so it would provoke Himazwj and Heazwj would change from a state to a state, because that is from the attributes of the creatures, the frustrated, the needy’.57

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Muhammad Bin Ismail Bin Bazie, from his uncle Hamza Bin Bazie,

‘From Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic does not regret like we tend to regret, but Heazwj Created Friends for Himselfazwj who are regretting and being pleased, and they are creations, being Nourished. Thus, Heazwj Made theirasws pleasure as being Hisazwj Pleasure, and theirasws anger as being Hisazwj Anger, because Heazwj Made themasws as the inviters to Himazwj, and the Indicators to Himazwj.

ك و قد قال من أهان هب قال من ذل فلذلك ماروا كذلك و ليس أن ذلك يصل إىل الله كما يصل إىل خلقه لرن هذا مىتن ما ها وليا فنقد بارزن بالمحاربة و دعان إلين

So, due to that, theyasws came to be like that, and it isn’t so that it (anger) comes to Allahazwj just as it tends to come to Hisazwj creatures. But, this is the Meaning of what Heazwj Said from that, and Heazwj has Said: “The one who offends a friend of Mineazwj, so he has duelled against Meazwj with the battle and called Meazwj to it”.

هه على ما ذكرت لك و هرذا الرضا رها من اهللشياء مما يكاكل ذلك و لو كان يصل إىل الله فرل هذا و شبن و الغنب و غينإذا دخله الغنب و يد ينوما ما هلليه اهللسف و النجر و هو الذي خلقهما و أيكأها جلاز لقا ل هذا أن ينقول إن الالق يب

So, all of this and the likes of it are upon what weasws mentioned to you, and like this is the (Divine) Pleasure, and the Anger, and other than these two from the things

which are identical to that. And had it been so that the regret, and the weariness arrives to Allahazwj, and Heazwj is the Oneazwj Who Created both, it would be allowed for a speaker to say this that one day the Creator would be obliterated, because Heazwj, when the anger and the weariness enters Himazwj, the change would enter Himazwj, the obliteration would not be safe upon Himazwj.

دور عليه و ال الالق من المنلوق تنىتاىل الله عن هذا القول علوا كبريا بل ث مل ينىترف المرون من المرون و ال القادر من المق اىل .شاء الله تنىت هو الالق لقشياء ال حلاجة فإذا كان ال حلاجة استحال احلد و الريف فيه فافنه، إن

Then it would not be recognised, the Bringer into being from the comer into being, nor the Powerful from the one empowered upon, nor the Creator from the Created. Exalted is Allahazwj from this speech, Loftier, Greater. But, Heazwj is the Creator of the things, not for a need. So when there was no need, the limitation is impossible, (as well as the) ‘how’ (Qualitative State) regarding Himazwj. Therefore, understand, if Allahazwj the Exalted so Desires’.58

VERSES 29 & 30

{29لوه، مر أن لن يرج الله أضغاينه، }أم حسب الذين يف قن Or do they in whose hearts is a disease, reckon that Allah will never Bring forth their grudges? [47:29]

واللننننه ينىتلنننن، حلننننن القننننول ولتنىتننننرفنننه، يف ولننننو يكنننناء هللرينننننناكه، فنلىتننننرفنتنه، بسننننيماه، {30أعمالر، }

And if We so Desire, We would Show them to you, so you would recognise them by their marks, and you can (already) recognise them by their tone of speech, and Allah Knows your deeds [47:30]

الىتباس، قال: حدانا عبد الىتزيز بن يي، عن حممد بن زكريا، عن جىتفر بن حممد بن عمارة، قال: حداين أيب، عن حممد بن ملا يصب رسول اهلل )ملى »جابر، عن أيب جىتفر حممد بن علي )عليهما السالم(، عن جابر بن عبد اهلل )رضي اهلل عنه(، قال:

Abu Ja’far Muhammad Bin Aliasws, from Jabir Bin Abdullah having said, ‘When Rasool-Allahsaww nominated Aliasws on the Day of Ghadeer Khumm, the people said, ‘What is the matter hesaww is raising hissaww cousin by the arms?’ So Allahazwj Revealed: Or do they in whose hearts is a disease, reckon that Allah will never Bring forth their grudges? And from him, from Ahmad Bin Idrees, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Al-Hassan Bin Mahboub, from Ali Ibn Ra’aib, from Ibn Bakeyr who said,

‘Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Took the Covenant from ourasws Shias for the Wilayah, so weasws recognise them by the tone of their speech’.60

ألد بن حممد بن خالد الربقي: بإسناد مرفو ، قال: قلت هلليب عبد اهلل )عليه السالم(: كان حذيفة بن اليمان يىترف املنافقن أجل، كان يىترف ااين عكر رجال، و أيت تىترف أاين عكر ألف رجل، إن اهلل تبارك و تىتاىل يقول: و لتنىترفنننه، يف حلن »فقال:

«.بغض علي بن أيب طالب )ملوات اهلل عليه( و رال الرىتبة»قلت: ال و اهلل. قال: « القول، فهل تدري ما حلن القول

Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid Al-Barqy, by an unbroken chain, said,

‘I said to Abu Abdullahasws, ‘Huzeyfa Bin Al-Yaman used to recognise the hypocrites?’ So heasws said: ‘Yes, he used to recognise twelve men, and you can recognise twelve thousand men. Allahazwj Blessed and Exalted is Saying: and you can (already) recognise them by their tone of speech [47:30], so do you know what is the tone of speech?’ I said, ‘No, by Allahazwj’. Heasws said: ‘Hatred of Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws, by the Lordazwj of the Kabah’.61

لفن: ابن املغازهب الكافىتي يف )املناقب(، يرفىته إىل أيب سىتيد الدري، يف قوله تىتاىل: و لتنىترفنننه، يف حلن القول،و من طريق املنا قال: ببغنه، علي بن أيب طالب )عليه السالم(.

And from the way of the adversaries – Ibn Al Magazily Al Shafi’e in (the book) Al Manaqib, raising it to Abu Saeed Al Khudry,

‘Regarding the Words of the Exalted: and you can (already) recognise them by their tone of speech [47:30], said, ‘By their hatred of Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws’’.62

Surely, those who commit Kufr and hinder from the Way of Allah and oppose the Rasool from after the Guidance having been clarified to them, will never (be able to) harm Allah of anything, and He would Nullify their deeds [47:32]

ل، الدى، قال: يف أمر علي »ابن شهر آشوال: عن أيب الورد، عن أيب جىتفر )عليه السالم(: و شاقوا الرسول من بنىتد ما تنبنن («.بن أيب طالب )عليه السالم

Ibn Shehr Ashub, from Abu Al-Ward, who has narrated the following:

‘Abu Ja’farasws: and oppose the Rasool from after the Guidance having been clarified to them [47:32], heasws said: ‘Regarding the matter of Amir-Al-Momineenasws’.63

ول، وله تىتاىل: إن الذين كفروا و مدوا عن سبيل الله، قال: عن أمري املعمنن )عليه السالم(: و شاقوا الرس علي بن إبراهي،، يف ق أي قطىتوه يف أهل بيته بىتد أخذ املياق عليه، له.

Ali Bin Ibrahim –

Regarding the Words of the Exalted: Surely those who commit Kufr and hinder from the Way of Allah [47:32], said, ‘(Prevent) from Amir-Al-Momineenasws and oppose the Rasool, i.e., cut-off (relations) regarding the Peopleasws of hissaww Household after hesaww had taken the Covenant upon them for it’.64

O you those who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Rasool, and do not invalidate your deeds [47:33]

نه(، قال: حداين حممد بن عبد اهلل احلمريي، عن أبيه، عن ألد بن ابن بابويه، قال: حدانا ألد بن هارون الفامي )رضي اهلل عقال رسول اهلل »حممد بن خالد الربقي، عن أيب عبد اهلل الصادق )عليه السالم(، عن أبيه، عن جده )عليه، السالم(، قال:

احلمد هلل، غرس اهلل له ها شجرة يف )ملى اهلل عليه و آله(: من قال: سبحان اهلل، غرس اهلل له ها شجرة يف اجلنة، و من قال: اجلنة. و من قال: ال إله إال اهلل غرس اهلل له ها شجرة يف اجلنة، و من قال: اهلل أكرب غرس له ها شجرة يف اجلنة.

Ibn Babuwayh, from Ahmad Bin Haroun Al-Famy, from Muhammad Bin Abdullah Al-Humeyri, from his father, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid Al-Barqy, who has narrated the following:

‘Abu Abdullah Al-Sadiqasws, from hisasws fatherasws, from hisasws grandfatherasws having said: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The one who says, ‘Glory be to Allahazwj’ (سحباان ه), Allahazwj would Plant a tree for him in the Paradise. And the one who says ‘The Praise is for Allahazwj (الامحد ه), Allahazwj would Plant for him a tree in the Paradise. And the one who says ‘There is no god except for Allahazwj (ال إله إال ه), Allahazwj would Plant a tree for him in the Paradise. And the one who says ‘Allahazwj is the Greatest .’Allahazwj would Plant a tree for him in the Paradise ,(ه أكبر)

فتحرقوها، و ذلك فقال رجل من قريش: يا رسول اهلل، إن شجريا يف اجلنة، كري! قال: يىت،، و لرن إياك، أن ترسلوا عليها يريايا «.أن اهلل عز و جل يقول: يا أينها الذين آمنوا أطيىتوا الله و أطيىتوا الرسول و ال تنبطلوا أعمالر،

So a man from Quraysh said, ‘O Rasool-Allahsaww! (Then) there would be a lot of trees for us in the Paradise!’ Hesaww said: ‘Yes, but beware not to send flames towards them so they would be burnt down, and that Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic is Saying: O you those who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Rasool, and do not invalidate your deeds [47:33]’.65

VERSES 34 - 38

{34ن الذين كفروا ومدوا عن سبيل الله ث ماتوا وه، كفار فنلن ينغفر الله ل، }إ Surely those who commit Kufr and hinder from the Way of Allah, then they die while they are Kafirs, so Allah will never Forgive (their sins) for them [47:34]

{35فال هنوا وتدعوا إىل السل، وأينت، اهللعلون والله مىتر، ولن يتك، أعمالر، }So do not slacken and call to the peace while you are on top, and Allah is with you and will never Deprive you for your deeds [47:35]

ينيا لىتنننب ولنننو نننا احليننناة الننند وإن تنعمننننوا وتنتنقنننوا يننننعتر، أجنننورك، وال يسنننألر، أمنننوالر، إن{36}

But rather, the life of this world is a play and a sport, and if you believe and are pious, He would Give you your Recompense and will not Ask you your wealth [47:36]

{37إن يسألرموها فنيحفر، تنبنلوا ويرج أضغاير، }If He does Ask you for it and Press you, you would be stingy and your spite would come out [47:37]

ننعالء تنندعون لتننفقننوا يف سننبيل اللننه فمنننر، مننن ينبنننل ننا ينبنننل هننا أينننت، ه ومننن ينبنننل فإننننرك، ث واللنننه الغنننين وأيننننت، الفقنننراء عنننن ينفسنننه ال يروينننوا وإن تنتنولنننوا يسنننتبدل قنومنننا غين {38أمالر، }

Behold! You are those who are called upon to spend in the Way of Allah – so from you is one who is stingy. And one who is stingy, rather he is stingy about himself, and Allah is the Needless, and you are the poor. And if you were to turn back, He would Replace you with another people, then they would not be like you [47:38]

ث قال علي بن إبراهي،: حداين حممد بن عبد اهلل، عن أبيه عبد اهلل بن جىتفر، عن السندي بن حممد، عن يويس بن يىتقوال، رك، ث ال يرويوا أمالر، »يه السالم(: عن يىتقوال بن قيس، قال: قال أبو عبد اهلل )عل يا بن قيس و إن تنتنولوا يستبدل قنوما غين

«.عن أبناء املواهب املىتتقن

Then Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘Muhammad Bin Abdullah narrated to me, from his father, Abdullah Bin Ja’far, from Al-Sindy Bin Muhammad, from Yunus Bin Yaqoub, from Yaqoub Bin Qays who said,

‘Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘O Bin Qays! And if you were to turn back, He would Replace you with another people, then they would not be like you [47:38], it Means the sons of the (people of the) Wilayah, liberated ones’.66

«.إن تنتنولوا، يا مىتكر الىترال يستبدل قنوما غينرك، يىتين املواهب»الطربسي: روى أبو بصري، عن أيب جىتفر )عليه السالم( ، قال:

Al-Tabarsy – It has been reported by Abu Baseer,

‘Abu Ja’farasws having said: ‘And if you were to turn back [47:38] - O group of Arabs, He would Replace you with another people, then they would not be like you [47:38] - Meaning the people of the Wilayah (الموالي)’. 66

«.هب[ خريا منه،، املوا قد و اهلل أبدل ]ه،»عن أيب عبد اهلل )عليه السالم(، قال: و

And from Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘And Allahazwj has Replaced them by those better than them, the people of the Wilayah (الموالي)’.67

إن تنتنولوا ال يرج من شيىتتنا أحد إال أبدلنا اهلل به من هو خري منه، و ذلك هللن اهلل يقول: و »قال أبو عبد اهلل )عليه السالم(: «.يستبدل قنوما غينرك، ث ال يرويوا أمالر،

Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘No one exits from ourasws Shias except that Allahazwj replaces him with one who is better than him, and that is because Allahazwj is Saying: And if you were to turn back, He would Replace you with another people, then they would not be like you [47:38]’.68

يف جممع البيان روى أبو هريرة ان اياسا من امحاال رسول اهلل ملى اهلل عليه واله قالوا: يا رسول هلل من هعالء الذين ذكر اهلل يف رسول اهلل ملى اهلل عليه واله فنرال عليه السالم يده على فنذ سلمان فقال: هذا وقومه، كتابه وكان سلمان إىل جنب

والذى يفسي بيده لو كان االميان منوطا بالريا لتناوله رجال من فارس.

In Majma Al-Bayan – It has been reported by Abu Hureira that,

‘People from the companions of Rasool-Allahsaww said, ‘O Rasool-Allahsaww! Who are the ones whom Allahazwj has Mentioned in Hissaww Book?’ (Meaning in Verse 47:37). And Salmanra was by the side of Rasool-Allahsaww, so hesaww struck hissaww hand upon the thigh of Salmanra and said: ‘This one and hisra people. By the Oneazwj in Whose Hand is mysaww soul, even if the Eman was vested on the sun, a man from Persia would attain it’.69
