Sighting reports increase as well

UFOs are back in the news thanksto the alert citizens of the little townsof Stephenville and Dublin, Texas, whoreported seeing a UFO on January 7and 8, 2008.

MUFON is also back in the publiceye thanks to the hard work anddedication of MUFON Texas led byMUFON Texas State Director KenCherry. Ken, along with SteveHudgeons—MUFON Texas ChiefInvestigator—and a team of MUFONTexas field investigators interviewednumerous sighting witnesses andgathered photo and video evidencewhile at the same time juggling manymedia interviews. The internationalmedia frenzy and scheduling ofinterviews was handled very effi-ciently by Alejandro Rojas, MUFONDirector of Public Education.

Please joinme in congratu-lating Ken, Steveand his teamalong withAlejandro fordoing a fine job inhelping MUFONbecome ahousehold name.

In additionto over 100 newMUFON members signing up sincethe story broke, MUFON sightingreports tripled to over 600 versus thenormal monthly average of 200.

MUFON is investigating a sightingin Stephenville, Texas, which waswitnessed by many on January 8,2008. The MUFON UFO Journalwill publish a report on the results ofthe investigation in a future issue.

News of the sighting was widelyreported in the media by January 15,and MUFON Texas had investigatorson site within a few days.

State director Ken Cherry saysthat MUFON received calls from 50citizens who say they witnessed theUFO and that the number and cred-ibility of the people is exceptional.(Good Morning America, 1/18/08)

MUFON Texas investigating

MUFON Texas took over 50reports from witnesses on Saturday,January 19 at the Rotary Club buildingin the nearby town of Dublin. Newsreports claim that from 200 to 500people packed the Rotary Building—whatever the number, it was morewitnesses in one place than MUFONhad ever tried to interview. Whilemany gave reports of the January 8sighting, some told stories of previousexperiences, including one womanwho told a story about something shesaw in 1957.

Ken Cherry, MUFON TexasState Director spearheaded theinvestigation, along with SteveHudgeons of Fort Worth, MUFON’ssenior investigator for Texas. Themen plus their team of five additionaltrained investigators conductedinterviews with the witnesses.

Large, bright, fast and silent

Several dozen observers claim tohave seen a large, silent object withbright lights flying low and fast in theskies above Stephenville, Texas, onthe night of January 8. ReporterAngelia K. Brown of the StephenvilleEmpire-Tribune, speaking in an APNews video, said that people saw

“very intense bright lights… andthey spanned a wide area…. Itmade not a sound.” Some observ-ers reported seeing fighter jetschasing it.

Local military first claimed thatthey had no planes in the area thatnight, and then later changed theirstory.

Major Karl Lewis, a spokesmanfor the 301st Fighter Wing at theJoint Reserve Base Naval AirStation in Fort Worth, initially saidthat no F-16s or other aircraft fromhis base were in the area the nightthe sightings were reported. Hesuggested that it may have been anillusion caused by two commercialairplanes whose lights appearedorange due to the setting sun. Officialsat two regional Air Force bases alsostated that none of their aircraft in thearea that week.

On January 23, officials of the301st Fighter Wing changed their story, saying that ten F-16 fighter jets builtby Lockheed Martin Corp. were infact training near Stephenville, atabout the time of the sightings.

Stephenville is located about 70miles southwest of Fort Worth andabout 70 miles north-northwest fromCrawford, Texas, home of PresidentBush’s ranch. The farming communityof 17,000 proudly boasts a signproclaiming them the “Number 1Dairy County” in Texas.

Over the next couple of months,MUFON”S investigators plan toprocess the information they havecompiled, follow up with some of thewitnesses and eventually produce areport about any patterns they find inthe accounts. Watch for the report ina future MUFON UFO Journal.

Houston Chronicle

The same night as the Texassighting, a woman in Louisiana sawand filmed something strange in thenight sky. The woman, who did notwant to be identified, said the brightlights hovered so long, she had time tograb her video camera and beginfilming. The object or objects wereseen around 9:00 PM in the skies nearShongaloo, Webster Parish, Louisiana, near the state line bordering ColumbiaCounty, Arkansas. The witness said itwas silent until it began moving.

The witness drew a diagram ofthe object she observed, which hassome resemblance to illustrations inMUFON Journal articles in the April2000 and June 2007 issues. (Seeillustrations on cover of this issue.)

KSLA News TV contactedBarksdale Air Force Base, whichdeclined to comment or to view thevideo. The KLSA report can beviewed at: http://www.disclose.tv/action/viewvideo/2806/The_Same_Object_Was_Seen_in_Texas__amp__Louisiana_/ .

01-24-08—I don’t normally researchUFO topics such as sightings, abductions, crop circles or cattlemutilations, instead I concentrate onRoswell, Area 51, Underground Basesand the Pyramids of Giza. I dohowever have an interest when a highprofile case comes along, trying to

stay abreast ofhow it develops,is reported, andnormally sweptunder the rug ina short timeperiod.

In the last10 years, threecases ofsightings havesurfaced which

are of interest to me: the PhoenixLights, the O’Hare Airport sighting, and the recent Stephenville, Texasevent. The official response to eachcase by the military and/orgovernment agencies have followed asimilar pattern, as have the majormedia outlets handling of theinformation.

Television “news” shows such asLarry King Live on CNN are a goodexample. Devoting too much airtimeto skeptics and debunkers likeMichael Shermer and James Magahadoes absolutely nothing to educate thepublic on the information availablefrom credible witnesses. Both ofthese gentlemen have an obviousagenda that appears to feed directlyinto the television show host’s biasedreporting of these events. Just once, Iwould like to hear Shermer orMagaha admit that we possibly don’tknow what these witnesses areseeing, and allow a seriousinvestigation to transpire. In my ownresearch I welcome opposing viewsthat have factual information

presented, believing that I can becomea better researcher by such views.Shermer and Magaha cannot acceptthe fact that many of the witnesseswho come forward are simply askingfor someone in authority to explain tothem what they saw. In my opinionneither of these two gentlemen fallinto the “someone inauthority”category. Those who are inauthority of course seem to have hada lot of experience in not beingtruthful with the witnesses and thepublic when making an officialstatement, going as far back as theRoswell Incident 60 years ago.

Retired military personnel, seriousresearchers like Stanton Friedman, and others are invited on the shows, but often times are cut off orinterrupted by the host or skeptics notgiving a fair balance to the viewingpublic that is desiring information, consequently coming away withdistorted information.

Do you believe in UFOs?

Another serious mistake made byhosts like Larry King is askingquestions such as, “do you believe inUFOs?” UFOs do exist, and have formany years, and have been admittedto by the military as far back as the1940s and 50s, so it’s not a matter ofif they exist, but rather in my opinion, what they are, which have notsatisfactorily been explained in thethree aforementioned cases.

Many television documentaries onthe subject of UFOs follow the samebiased approach. One example is theNational Geographic special, forwhich researchers Stanton Friedman,Don Schmitt, myself and othersdevoted our years of research freelyto filming of the show, only to havethe debunkers override the show to anextremely biased conclusion.

Is there No End to the Excuses We’re Given?Searching for the TruthBy Dennis G. Balthaser

Why include “woo-woo?”

Many television documentariesand news shows, as well asnewspaper articles that report UFOincidents, insist on bringing what Irefer to as the “woo-woo” aspect intowhat could, and should be reported asthe story of the millennium. Why thendo the people in tinfoil hats and sci-fifilm clips have to be included? If thatis their way of being balanced theyobviously don’t understand the subjectof ufology to begin with. Is it anywonder that the subject is not takenmore seriously than it is, due to thereporting it receives?

If we are ever to have objectivecoverage of this subject, changesmust be made not only in howtelevision documentaries are pre-sented, but news media outlets shouldalso present their UFO newsdifferently than what has become thenorm. Many radio show hosts aretrying to do this in live interviews theyconduct with serious researchers andwitnesses, and I compliment them fordoing so.

As for the military and govern-ment agencies that publicly getinvolved in trying to explain a certaincase, their historical record is alsoextremely questionable, and seems toget worse with each case. Rememberwe have been given four excuses forwhat happened in Roswell in 1947 inthe past 60 years, and many of usbelieve we have still not been told thetruth. The excuses given in mostcases are not satisfactory. It isdisheartening to me that witnessesmust be made to look like they are notqualified to comment on what theysaw, when the truth in most cases isthe simple fact that the witnessesdon’t know what they saw, and theexcuses given by the authorities donot correlate with what the witnesses

saw. Is it any wonder that mostsightings go unreported because ofthe ridicule, embarrassment or threatsthe witnesses will have to deal withwhen they report it?

Having been in the militarymyself, and as a proud life-longAmerican supporter of our troops, Ibelieve those military personnel in theUnited States who are supposedly in aposition of authority, and in fact arespeaking for the military, aredeceiving the public and in some caseoutright lying to us, and it must stop.

Three credible cases

The three cases that I mentionedthat I have been following are thePhoenix Lights (March 1997), theO’Hare airport case (November2006), and—just last month—theStephenville, Texas case (January 8,2008). In all three cases crediblewitnesses have come forward askingsomeone to explain to them what theysaw and experienced.

Of the three cases, the PhoenixLights probably had the most wit-nesses, with many taking photographsand video film of the event. Theexcuse given by those in authority andstill used by skeptics and debunkers, was that the Phoenix Lights wereflares being dropped by the MarylandAir National Guard. Since the

government is experienced in spendingour tax money without accountability, why not notify the public in Phoenixthat the Guard will again drop flaresover the same location, same time ofnight and altitude, so they can again befilmed and compared with the originalevent.

The O’Hare Airport case also hadcredible witnesses (pilots and groundpersonnel) who witnessed a craft overthe second busiest airport in thecountry. Our government and militarydidn’t seem concerned with NationalSecurity, waving it off as a weatherphenomenon. United Airlines eventried preventing the witnesses fromcommenting.

And now we have the Stephen-ville, Texas, case—again with whatappear to be several crediblewitnesses—and the military originallystated no aircraft were in the area ofthe sightings. Two weeks later, in theinterest of public awareness, themilitary admits it was in error, and hadten F-16 Fighters in the air nearStephenville on the night of thesightings. How the hell does themilitary lose or not be able to accountfor 10 F-16s (that are not quiet, unlikethe object seen by witnesses) being inthe area of the sightings two weekslater? MUFON investigators andothers are still investigating the

Stephenville case, and I’ll await theirfindings, but I feel the militaryexplanation after a two-week delaywas again unacceptable.

In all my years of doing research,I thought the U.S. military had shotthemselves in the foot several times, particularly with the 1997 “crash testdummies” excuse for Roswell, but Ireally believe they have outdonethemselves with the Stephenville,Texas, sighting, by not accounting forten F-16s for two weeks. How muchlonger will the American public haveto put up with the excuses we arebeing given, when all we want toknow is what is actually being seen bycredible people who help to pay thesalaries of these individuals inauthority who continue to give us lameexcuses? It’s time for accountability.

Dennis G. Balthaser moved to Roswell,NM in 1996, to pursue his 25-year interestin Ufology and particularly the RoswellIncident. Today he is an independentresearcher, investigator and lecturer andrecently joined the advisory board of theGreat Pyramid of Giza ResearchAssociation.

It is said that “all good things must come to an end.”In this case, the end simply means that Herbert Prouty J.D.,our Director of Legal Affairs is retiring. Herb served asDirector of Legal Affairs under three MUFON InternationalDirectors – Walter Andrus, John Schuessler and JamesCarrion.

Herb was always there when MUFON needed legaladvice or direction. He graciously shared his legal expertiseto assure that MUFON was operating in a legal and ethical

way. When unscrupulous individuals did things thatcould be harmful to the future of MUFON, Herb pro-vided the legal direction that defused those attempts andkept MUFON on the straight and narrow path.

In 2006, Herb became a MUFON Lifetime Memberthereby demonstrating his continuing support forMUFON beyond his term as Director of Legal Affairs. We appreciate the work that Herb did for MUFON andare proud to call him a friend.

Beverly TroutMitchellville, IowaState Section Director - Iowa

I was State Director for MUFON from 1995 to 2006, atwhich time I asked Jim King to take over as State Director, since I work as Legal Assistant for an attorney an average ofover 50 hours per week year-round, and have much less timefor investigations. Jim does a great job as the State Director!

Early on, in my assessment of MUFON’s importance toUFO research, I concluded that “investigations” were wheremy energies should concentrate, and so my substantialexperience in investigating UFO sighting reports, encounterswith UFO occupants and crop formations in Iowa, led towhat I consider to be a super- important educational compo-nent in my life, as I, along with fellow-investigators, attemptto be as objective as possible in our investigations.

I have some familiarity with the encounters/abductionphenomenon, having been involved from early childhood. Some of my memories have been recalled through lighthypnosis with a psychiatrist. However, in recent years I havehad conscious encounters as well. When I was an adolescent

in the 1940s, my perception was that a reptilian was incharge of a team of grays when they took me out of ahayfield where I was driving a little tractor while my dad anda neighbor loaded hay onto a hayrack. This memory (which Inever would have consciously thought of) was accessedthrough hypnosis in 1993.

I wrote two articles for the MUFON Journal in late 2004entitled “Serpents of Wisdom, or Snakes in the Grass?,”regarding the reptilians. It would seem that reptilian lifeforms have played an inordinately huge part in the variouscultures on this planet, as it’s a common theme in ancientwritings. I am certainly no apologist for aliens, of any kind. And frankly, I am no apologist for humans, myself included, for our part or role in the encounter/abduction phenomenon.

We humans need to become aware of and consciouslywork to develop our own “consciousness potential,” so thatwe can emerge onto a more level playing field with the aliens,be they reptilian or otherwise, because at this point theencounters equation is heavily weighted on the alien side—they’re in control, and we’re the controlled. And yes, part of

I became interested in ufology when, as a child I wouldview “objects in the sky” usually towards dusk. My daddismissed these sightings as “illusions.”

In 1975, one evening around 8:00 p.m., I stopped at thestop sign at the end of my street. Immediately to my left Isaw a disk-shaped object with revolving lights, stationary inthe sky. At first I assumed this was an advertising plane, likeone you might see at a ball game. There was no movementand no sound coming from this object. As quickly as I sawthe object, it vanished! No direction, no lights out, just gone!

The incident that led me to MUFON happened in 2004.In September, a friend and I were camping in a horse

camping park not far from our home. We had taken thehorses, along with our horse trailer with living quarters. Twofull 40-gallon water tanks for the horses sat atop the trailer.Later that evening, friends (a couple and their four children)joined us for dinner. The two men went into town for abusiness meeting at approximately 7:00 PM. Before leaving,my friend left me a pistol with a fully loaded clip. Mycompany left about 9:10 PM, leaving me alone at HorseCamp. About five minutes later, I heard the sound of jetengines. As I looked for the planes, instead I saw threereddish-orange cylinder-shaped lights in single file formation, making NO sound! As quickly as I saw the three lights, theyimmediately formed a triangle overhead.

About then, I heard my friend’s truck coming up theroad. The triangle of lights above me now were encasedinside another triangle, of white lights. Then it was gone! When my friend returned to the trailer, I told him what I hadseen. I believe the initial sighting was about 9:15 PM but itseemed like just a few seconds had passed. However, the

clock showed 9:30 PM, so there were 15 minutesunaccounted for.

We saw nothing more that evening, although in the earlymorning hours we were awakened by the movement andsqueaking noise of the trailer. The lights were on and both ofus felt pressure on our chests and could not get up to turn offthe lights. This happened at least twice during the night.

Next morning, when trying to fill the water buckets forthe horses, I discovered that our 40-gallon tanks werecompletely empty! Yet the surrounding ground was bone dry.

Even more unusual was that when my friend checked theclip of the pistol he had given me, he found it was empty! Both of us were stunned.

At home the next day, we found MUFON on the internet. We contacted Bill Olinger (State Director at the time) andexplained our “event.” Bill met with us and made us feel atease and explained the purpose of MUFON. Bill assigned ourcase to Jim Grubb, who went to Horse Camp, investigated, and reported the sighting to MUFON.

Following this incident, we became MUFON Field Inves-tigator Trainees. Currently I am the Asst. State Director andTreasurer/Secretary under Timothy Whiteagle’s direction.

Tim is diligently promoting MUFON recruitment and isdoing an awesome job. This month he is hosting a FieldInvestigators Seminar in preparation for the FieldInvestigators exam. We here in Wisconsin are extremelyappreciative of Tim’s professionalism.

I have been a Real Estate Institute Professional for 20years. I have been trained in basic through advancedControlled Remote Viewing (CRV) in Alamogordo, NewMexico by Lyn Buchanan of PSI. Mel Riley, former militaryRemote Viewer, also continues to mentor me with ongoingCRV training. I am honored to have been trained by the best!

developing our consciousness potential means we need torealize that we are indeed more than our physical bodies, andthat we have capabilities way beyond the physical.

Ultimately, we’re all trying to make our way into somesort of truth on this whole phenomenon. I can only point tothe need for as much objectivity as we can summon into theinvestigation process, and the very real need to neither deifynor demonize whatever this UFO phenomenon represents,

because that destroys objectivity. No matter what we mayconsider to be solid information, we’d better keep on askingquestions growing out of whatever conclusion we thinkwe’ve arrived at.

I have spoken at various conferences, including theMUFON Symposium in 1999, several times at the OzarkUFO Conference in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and otherconferences in various states. I am often asked to speak inIowa to various community groups.

Davina M. RyszkaDelta, ColoradoMUFON State Section Director/Field Investigator

I have always been interested in UFOs and flying. Ilearned to fly while in college, receiving my fixed wing, single engine private pilot’s license in the early 1970s.

Growing up on a Montana ranch, my interest in UFOsbegan before I was in high school. Occasionally in the 1950sand 60s I would read or hear a news story of a UFO sightingsomewhere in Montana. One report that really interested mehappened at Canyon Ferry Lake near Helena, Montana. Afamily, camping and boating at the lake, witnessed a UFOlanding, which left markings on the beach as evidence. Thisintrigued me, and since then I’ve been intensely curiousabout UFOs. I acquired every book, magazine, journal andtape recording on the subject that I could find.

It wasn’t until my husband and I moved to Custer, SouthDakota, in the 1980s that I learned about MUFON from DonCurtis, the MUFON State Director of Iowa. He was on hisway back to Iowa and had drawn attention to himself withhis van, highly decorated with Flying Saucers, MUFONcontact information and bumper stickers about UFOs. Ibecame a member, later a Field Investigator and eventuallythe State Director of South Dakota. We began to holdmonthly meetings and we gained new MUFON members. Welearned of many sightings, current and past, receiving everytype of report including crop circles, cattle mutilations, dayand night time sightings of all kinds, and a few abductioncases as well.

The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, southeast of RapidCity, was the site of much unusual activity. I have sincelearned that all the Indian Reservations across this countryhave experienced similar things: UFO sightings, Bigfootsightings, cattle mutilations, unusual animal sightings, strangeground markings and silent black helicopters. The Emer-gency Services coordinator from the Reservation spoke forthree hours to our group about all the UFO-related incidentsand investigations he conducted for about 10 years on thereservation.

He took our MUFON group on an all night tour tolocations on the reservation where events and major sightingshad occurred. On a remote hilltop that looking north into thebadlands, he said we’d be sure to have a sighting 365 days ofthe year. This was verified by a female police officer wholived nearby. Amazingly, at 2:30 AM, we saw white strobelights in the distance. At first we thought these must beairplanes, but it was odd to see first one and then anotheruntil there were between six and eight of them going back

and forth across the horizon, and also moving up and down, unlike normal aircraft. Ourguide said they were alwaysout there, but often muchcloser. Even when he had seenthem going right over his head, they were always totally silent.

At another time, myhusband and I observed asilent triangle in Custer, wherewe lived. It had a white strobelight on each corner. My teenage daughter and I tried tofollow it with the family van, but we could not catch up withit. A friend in a town 30 miles away also observed this object15 minutes later as it flew over his residence. He reportedthat it was totally silent, and that all the dogs in the neighbor-hood barked and yelped like they were in pain. It appeared tohim to be about 500 feet high and he estimated the sides ofthe triangle to be about 150-200 feet in length. What sur-prised him was the total silence and the animal reaction. Assoon as the object was gone, the dogs became quiet.

Since we moved to Colorado in 1995 I have learnedabout many sightings, past and present which have occurredon the western slope. I have conducted a number of investi-gations in the Delta, Grand Junction and Montrose areas.

I hope that MUFON can continue to grow and tocontinue to strive for answers to the mysteries out there.

In 1953, I witnessed a UFO—a disc-shaped craft thathovered and maneuvered, then shot off in a split second.Nothing of our then at least. I also witnessed the PhoenixLights of March 13, 1997. It was a wondrous sight—notmuch of a light show, but of humungous size.

I have many contacts in NASA, and also with otherengineers as I used to sell high tech sound, noise and vibra-tion testing equipment, even to Sandia Labs, etc.

I am working diligently to get on board with MUFONnew county section directors and new field investigators.

Chris Bledsoe is a well-respectedcitizen in the community of HopeMills, North Carolina. He is a familyman, a successful businessman, ahard-working (now retired) contractorwho is active in his church andsupports financially the things he is

passionate about. He supplied me withdocumentation to confirm that heholds a commercial pilot’s license andthat he and his contracting businesswere very active in his community.

It should be noted that Chrisstruggled greatly with the decision togo forward with reporting the eventsthat he, his son, and three other menexperienced on January 8, 2007. He iswell known in Hope Mills and hefeared that people would ridicule him.He eventually submitted his report onOctober 10, 2007, but still struggled attimes during my investigation. Chrisand his 17-year-old son Chris Jr.experienced fear and anxiety forweeks after their encounter. Thethree other witnesses were men whoat the time worked for Chris asbuilding contractors. They did notwant their names known nor werethey willing to participate actively inthe investigation due to the impact theevents had on them. Chris said thattwo of them vowed to never discuss

In this report I refer to ChrisBledsoe as Chris, and his son as ChrisJr.

Sequence of events

Chris, his son and three other menwere fishing for catfish on the CapeFear River most of the afternoon ofJanuary 8, 2007. The weather wascold and clear. Just before dark ChrisJr. wandered off into the woodshoping to see deer feeding. Chris (Sr.)decided to walk up the muddy two-rutroad through the thick woods, awayfrom the river. As he walked he hearda lot of scurrying in the woods on bothsides, which he assumed wereprobably deer. Having no flashlight, hecouldn’t see into the dark woods. Themuddy road led to a field about 200yards or so wide, just short of the

main road. As he approached the field,he saw three orange orbs1 movingdown toward the ground in hisdirection. About a mile away, theystopped, hovering silently over thetrees for about 10–15 minutes.Frightened and nervous, he quicklyheaded back on foot to where theother men were at the river, askingthem whether they have seen his son. They reply they have not. He tells theother men what he has seen and theylaugh at him and make jokes.

Worried about his 17-year-old son,he took off “in a panic” into the woodscalling for him. Soon the sonreappeared, also in a panicked state ofmind, reporting that he had observedtwo red orbs floating about waist highin the distance. As they became closerhe saw that these lights were the eyesor goggles of entities about 4 feet tall.Chris Jr. said that the entities werepicking up items off the ground likesoda bottles.

Chris and his son returned to theriver. The time was approximately7:15 PM.

At some point during thistimeframe, the other three men alsosaw something. Then, while all thewitnesses were at the river, togetherthey saw what looked like 6 to 8 starsfrom different parts of the sky movingvery fast and seeming to converge in agroup. Suddenly, three of the brilliantwhite objects—which Chris describesas being as big as a greyhound bus—

flew over the witnesses. The sphere-shaped objects flew side by side, andthen either landed or went out of sighton the other side of the river, approximately 200–400 yards away. The frightened men dropped theirfishing poles and took off in Chris’spickup truck which was parked at thefishing site, leaving their equipmentbehind. They drove back up themuddy two-rut lane to exit the areaand connect with the main road.

When the truck arrived at the endof Horse Tail Road—at the fieldwhere Chris had first seen the threeorange orbs—the witnesses encountera brilliant white egg-shaped objectwith what looks like spokes attachedto it. The object is approximately 200yards from them, and is rotatingclockwise while hoveringapproximately 20 feet above the mainroad. The object gave off such anintense glow that witnesses could notmake out any structural details. Chrisstated that they all sat “frozen in mytruck looking at this thing straight infront of us.” The object then appearedto rise up and move down the mainroad then suddenly shot off just over

The object that all the witnesses saw from the truck as they were leaving the fishingarea. Chris Bledsoe wrote: “It was brilliant white, 200 yards from me, 20 feet overthe ground. It had spikes all around it and it was rotating clockwise. Egg shaped asbig as a greyhound bus.”

The orbs seen by the men at the river. Chris Bledsoe wrote: They came from behindus where I had just seen the three orange orbs. They looked like stars for aminute, moving, they then converged and landed side by side on the other side ofthe river behind the trees. (Big as a greyhound bus.)

the trees out of sight.By now the witnesses were very

upset and just wanted to get home. Asthey drove they continued to seestrange lights in the sky and observecars parked on the side of the roadapparently watching the lights. Themen, who live within three miles ofeach other, all return home safely.

Later that same night at around1:00–2:00 AM, Chris and Chris Jr. arestill talking and trying to calm down. They heard a loud noise from outsidewhich sounded “like a prop jet flew attreetop height right over the house.”Chris ran outside and could seenothing. About 30 to 45 minutes later, all of their 15 hound dogs are barkingwildly from within their kennelenclosure outside, and so is theirChesapeake Bay retriever who isunrestrained. It was apparent thatsomething has spooked the dogs.

As Chris and his son go outside, the retriever jumped off the patio inpursuit of whatever it detected. Chrisraced toward the back yard, past thekennel, trying to head off whateverthe dog was chasing. When hereached the rear of the 4-acreproperty, he comes to a quick stop, startled to see an entity staring at himfrom no more than five feet away.Chris describes the entity asapproximately 4 to 5 feet tall, appearing to glow like it had a glassyappearance around its entire body, little to no neck, wearing red typegoggles and with a mask-life coveringover the lower part of its face. Itappeared to have a dark plate-likeobject on its chest area. The entitystood still in front of Chris for severalseconds and then disappeared as thedog and Chris Jr. approached. ChrisJr. tells his dad the aliens he saw inthe woods by the river fit the samedescription.

Dear Editor,In the December 2007 issue of the

Journal, John Ringer had an interest-ing article regarding the “Foo Fight-ers” of World War II.

Based on my own research for afuture presentation, I was familiar withthe cases highlighted. I believe thedate of the report form the 415thNight Fighter Squadron was 26 Nov.1944, not 23 Nov. The B24 missionover Fala Island, Truk Atoll occurredon 2 May 1945, not 1944.

For readers interested in the foofighter phenomenon, I recommend thebook Strange Company, MilitaryEncounters with UFOs in WW II.This is an in-depth account of uncon-ventional aircraft observed by themilitary in both the European andPacific theaters.

Conclusion

This is the strangest and mostsignificant MUFON case I have beeninvolved with. I found both Chris andChris Jr. extremely credible. Pope AirForce base and Fort Bragg militaryinstallations are both in theFayetteville area, but not close towhere these events took place. Alogical way to explain this would be tosay these men encountered some typeof military exercise in progress but thedescription of the UFOs observed andthe entities observed do not match any

Letters to the Editor

conventional explanation. This is thefourth case I have worked on thatinvolved orange orbs being seen.

I would list this case asUNKNOWN. I believe these menencountered craft and beings fromanother dimension or from anotherstar system.

1 Chris identified the orange orb thathe saw as similar to the one pictured as“Original” at www.coasttocoastam.com/gen/page2128.html?theme=light .

Steiger and Vesco have reliabilityproblems.

Keith Chester has compiled acomprehensive history of foo-fightersin Strange Company: MilitaryEncounters with UFOs in WWIIwhich should be on everyone’sreading list. Since the publication ofKeith’s book, I have finished some ofthe research on the foo-fighter subjectthat I put aside some time ago and amcompiling the results to supplementKeith’s work. I have made someadditional discoveries both official andnon-official. My compilation will alsoinclude war time sightings by civilianswhich was not a focus of Keith’sbook.

I [have information about] thediscovery of a Top Secret US Strate-gic Air Forces Europe documentdated January 1945, which mentionedboth “phoo-bombs” and “crystalballs.” The document was found atthe Air Force Historical ResearchAgency at Maxwell AFB.

Dave Watson was born and raised inthe western part of Wisconsin and afterhigh school did a stint in the Army in the1960s. After his U.S. Army duty heenrolled in the Nicolet Technical Collegein Rhinelander, Wisconsin, studyingdrafting, machine design and technology. In the early 1970s he worked as adispatcher for the Chippewa County,Wisconsin, Sheriff’s Department and wasintroduced to MUFON by Ron Anderson, the first MUFON Wisconsin StateDirector. He also became interested inmilitary aviation and was a member ofboth the Experimental Aircraft Associationand the Warbirds of America, andeventually, the Director of AmericanWarplane Heritage, Inc., and a memberof the Air Force Museum Foundation.

Later, Dave’s career included a jobwith a Chicago-based advertisingresearch company where he was involvedwith both television and print mediaadvertising. During this same time hestarted a home-based business calledRailmaster Photography whichculminated in a lifelong interest in trainsand model railroading. In 1987 he beganhis current career in residential rentalmanagement in Altoona, Wisconsin, as thecompany’s Senior Housing Specialist andSystem Manager. During the last twenty

years he also started a small business calledGraph-X creating and designing forms forsmall businesses.

In 2005 Dave rejoined MUFON as aField Investigator Trainee and passed theField Investigator Exam in the summerof 2005. After a long time interest in UFOshe saw his first (and only, to date) UFOin June of 2006. Later in 2006 he becameinvolved in the re-opening of the Kinrossincident following a claim that a Michigan-based dive team had located a longmissing USAF F-89 Scorpion jetinterceptor on the bottom of LakeMichigan. After an extensive investigationby many MUFON members, it wasdetermined the claims made by the divecompany were not true.

In January of 2007 Dave stepped upto become the MUFON Wisconsin StateDirector following the resignation of BillOlinger and he held this position until beingnamed the Deputy Director ofInvestigations.

Dave Watson has made greatcontributions to MUFON through hisinvestigations and his assistance with thewriting and design of MUFON Forms forthe new Field Investigators Manual. Aspart of this project, all existing MUFONforms were redesigned and new formsbrought on-line which had not previouslyexisted. It was a tremendous help.

As Deputy Director of Investigations,Dave’s counsel is sought and respectedin a number of ongoing events and caseinvestigations. Dave has workeduntiringly and is dedicated in furtheringMUFON objectives, and as he says, “Iam proud to be a member of the MutualUFO Network.”

Millennial Hospitality IV: After Hours,by Charles James Hall, 2007. AuthorHouse,Bloomington, IN. ISBN 9781434342669.Hardcover, $28.50, softcover 6x9, $19.50 atwww.AuthorHouse.com .

For more than two years in the1960s, USAF weather observer CharlesHall claims to have interacted with agroup of aliens in the Nevada desertwhom he dubs the “Tall Whites.” Inexchange for their U.S military-providedunderground base, the Tall Whites wereproviding the military with limitedtechnology. Their presence in the areapredated not only the military use of theland, but even the arrival of the whiteman. In fact, some of the long-lived“visitors” had apparently been born onearth hundreds of years ago.

Hall’s fourth Millennial bookdocuments in great detail how he came tothis assignment, the fate of earlierweather observers and how he slowlycame to realize that what he was seeingwas real. Lots of self-deprecating humoris found in Hall’s story as he attempts toreconcile his experiences with hisCatholic faith and no-nonsense upbring-ing. His encounters with the beingsbecame almost daily occurrences. Hewas able to communicate both in Englishand telepathically with several of them. Some of the group lived permanently attheir base in family groups while othersarrived regularly in groups for shortstays. He was able to observe the regularschedule of their large deep-space craftas well as the smaller, earth-built craftused for “local” travel. From this, Halldeveloped his theory of how the aliensnavigate and achieve faster-than-lighttravel.

None of this is to say that the book iswithout flaws. A good argument could bemade for reducing the repetitious de-

scriptions of the desert scenery whereCharles was based, although I foundthat reading them helped me to moreeasily enter his daily life and mindset.More background isneeded about an earlierencounter he claims tohave had with anotheralien group while growingup in Wisconsin. Artist’simpressions would help tofurther flesh out hisdescriptions of the aliensand their craft. And someof his deductions and ideaswere clearly made afterthe fact, rather than asevents unfolded, as the text implies. Butthese are minor quibbles compared tothe potential significance of the TallWhite story.

Secret US space programbeginnings?

One of the book’s most intriguingelements has no direct connection tohis Tall White encounters: in thesummer of 1965, Hall claims to havewitnessed the launch of a large rocketthat seems to have been a prototypespace shuttle assembly—a large centralrocket with two side boosters attached.Attached to the central fuel tank was anX-15 styled spacecraft with twocockpits visible. He was able to trackthe launch and separation of theboosters through his theodolite until itdisappeared over the horizon.1 Halllater calculated the launch was fromsomewhere in Area 51.

For Hall’s story to have validity, thecovert development of a larger two-pilot craft and a ground-launch facilitycomparable to Vandenberg AFB wouldbe necessary by 1965. The mostplausible explanation is that the X15’ssuccessor, the X20 Dyna-Soar craft,

did make it into space, co-opted by themilitary, contra the official story that theproject was cancelled in December1963. 2 Hall’s account thus fits nicely

with this timeframe, shedding possibly signifi-cant light on the black-opaspects of America’s spaceprogram. It gives consider-able weight to long-standingclaims from many sourcesthat unacknowledgedmanned launches have beencarried out for decades andthat the NASA programsrepresents only the publicface fronting a vastly more

advanced military space operation.

Confirmation of the tall whites

As for the Tall Whites, reports ofvery tall, very thin and very whitehumanoid beings have been a staple, although not prominent, component of“alien encounters” over the years. Oftenthese reports contain key elementsfound in Millennial Hospitality: the TallWhites are very thin, proud, aloofbeings normally uninterested in humancontact. They can run, very fast. Theymay grow up to 8 feet or more inheight. They often wear clothing thatallows them to hover. They are involvedin limited technology transfers to the USmilitary. They can—and do—passthemselves off as human with suitableclothing and makeup. Hall’s bookcontains several corroborating accountsfrom people who appear to haveencountered the same beings. I wouldlike to add two accounts that seem toinvolve the Tall White race.

In 1995, a group of seven peoplenear Honolulu encountered an extremelywhite woman at least 7ft 4 in tall, walking with long strides down a hill

from a large landed craft that they hadearlier assumed was a strange house. The woman wore a kind of white tunicalmost to her knees with long whiteboots. She had very long black curlyhair (perhaps a wig?) and appeared to bein her twenties or thirties. 3 Contractorsinvolved in the construction of militaryfacilities have sometimes claimed tohave had glimpses of obvious extrater-restrials working with humans. In 1991,for example, one contractor workingdeep underground in Edwards AFB inCalifornia described briefly seeing abeing between 8 and 10 feet tall talkingwith two human engineers.4

One gets the strong impression thatwhat is revealed in Charles Hall’s booksis but the tip of an iceberg of deepinvolvement between the military-industrial complex of several countrieswith several alien groups. Hall specu-lates on the wider dimensions and longerhistory of this contact but it is restrainedspeculation that stays close to his ownexperiences. One has to read the threeearlier Millennial Hospitality volumes toget the full story, so far; Hall hasconfirmed that more took place than he

has so far written about.5 Meanwhile,Gerry Zeitlin’s website has an excellentrange of maps and imagery that fleshout the Charles Hall story nicely.6

Hopefully a future book will condenseall that happened together with much-needed illustrations.

Originally written only to preservehis experiences for his grandchildren,Charles Hall’s account has provided acredible home for a variety of reportsthat almost seemed outside mainstreamUFOlogy and has let us see, I believe forthe first time, how a credible military-alien liaison may have started.

This important book deserves muchmore than a brief review can provide.Engineers and medicos need to evaluatethe information about the alien’s weaponsystem. Physicists need to explore Hall’sdata on propulsion systems and super-luminal travel. These and many otherclaims need to be evaluated and assimi-lated by the UFO community as soon aspossible.

Notes1. Millennial Hospitality IV, 80-87. In his

account Hall thought little of the launchbeyond its beauty, assuming it to be a

natural development of the spaceprogram. The X15 program of courseofficially never progressed beyond one-pilot air-launched craft that performedonly suborbital flights from 1959-1968 asa precursor to the Mercury program. Auseful introduction is found at http://history.nasa.gov/x15/cover.html.

2. The X20 Dyna-Soar program lastedfrom 1959 to1963 when it was can-celled, officially without any flightshaving taken place. See, for example:www.aerospaceguide.net/dynasoar.html.

4. Interview published in the September/October 1992 Operation Right toKnow newsletter, available online atwww.ufoarea.com/bases_witness.html.This unusual height matches the TallWhites except that the being’s skinappeared “greenish,” although thismight be attributed to the lighting.

Many hundreds of books arepublished worldwide each year on thesubject of UFOs and associated topics.A few are written merely to gainattention or money or both; thesemotives usually become clear very earlyon. But most are written simply in anattempt by an ordinary person to makesome sense of a significant, oftenpivotal, event or series of events in theirlife and to place it on record. Thismeans that people who would neverotherwise have written a book often

feel compelled to do so.Dena Blatt’s book fallsfirmly in this secondcategory.

The story is not hers, but is that of an artist friendnow living in VancouverBC, Shirlé Klein-Carsh. Onthe face of it The Artist &the Alien seems to be ahomely, fairly straight-forward recounting ofShirlé’s life story and howher deepening spiritual and metaphysicalawareness led her to express herself infuturistic art. But much more liesbeneath the surface. In fact, the booktakes us through a wide range of UFO-

related subjects, althoughmany are only touched onbriefly.

Central to the story is“Frank,” the electronicrepairman whom Shirléreluctantly comes toaccept was in fact fromanother world. Seeminglyan itinerant tinkerer withdark shoulder length hairand unremarkable featuresother than his large irises,

Frank appears an unlikely candidate tobe an alien. To the best of my knowl-edge, this is the first time anyone

Each reader will have to decide forthemselves if Frank was from someother reality. But for me, the main valueof The Artist & the Alien lies in theway that it forces us to face the aspects

of ufology that many still shy awayfrom: abductions, hybrids, comingearth-changes, dimensional visitors, reincarnation, star children, walk-insand more. In one way or anotherufology is linked to every category oflife on this planet, not merely to strangeflying craft. Right now we seem to stillbe at a stage of just coming to termswith the various pieces of a complex,

British Ministry of Defence Breakthrough?UFO info releases often disappoint

Over the years there have been anumber of instances in which veryoptimistic claims have been made aboutexpecting revelation of TOP SECRETgovernment materials about UFOs. Wayback in 1979, The Washington Whis-pers column in U.S. News and WorldReport indicated there would soon be amajor release of UFO material. Thiswas during the Carter Administration. Itnever happened.

Other rumors have circulated. In2007 there was a big noise about sup-posedly TOP SECRET official Frenchgovernment UFO reports being postedon a government website. There was somuch interest that the site went downin two hours. What was finally postedwere a collection of reports that hadbeen around for some time. Theyconsisted almost entirely of Frenchcivilian sighting files derived mainlyfrom investigations by the gendarmerieand not official military records. Theyhad not been highly classified.

There was plenty of indication atthe National Press Club press confer-ence in Washington, D.C., on Novem-ber 12 that military UFO-related activit-ies are generally closely held. Think ofthe Iranian Air Force jet encounter witha UFO in September 1976 with thefrightening fact that the UFO was ableto turn off military systems on boardthe chasing airplanes. No countrywould want to reveal details of suchencounters lest they give ideas to theirenemies.

MOD to release UFO files

In December 2007 there was quitea lot of fanfare about the Ministry ofDefense (MOD) in Great Britainreleasing all their UFO files, supposedly

including TOP SECRET material, according to the news media. It wasadmitted that some very early files hadbeen destroyed after five years—butthat was prior to the relatively recentestablishment of a Freedom of Informa-tion procedure in the UK.

Remembering the Condign Report

There has been quite a bit ofdiscussion amongst the UK ufologistsas to just what this means. Readersmay recall the big fuss about the BritishCondign Report. It had indeed beenclassified, but British EYES ONLYSECRET not TOP SECRET. Thoughcompleted in 2000, it was not releaseduntil 2006. It was primarily the work ofa consultant (still unnamed) who reallydid not seem very knowledgeable abouthistorical ufology. For example, he paida lot of attention to plasma explanationsfor UFOs despite the fact, of which hewas apparently unaware, that muchattention had been paid to these by UFOdebunker (the late) Philip Klass and bythe University of Colorado study manyyears ago. Klass’s explanations hadbeen quantitatively demolished byatmospheric physicist Dr. James E.McDonald, though his published workwasn’t noted by the Condign authoreither. There was no indication of theinclusion of TOP SECRET materialrelating to crashed saucers, aircraftattacking UFOs, UFOs attacking and ordestroying interceptors, etc. The authorhad seemingly not been aware of evenlarge scale unclassified Americanstudies such as Project Blue BookSpecial Report No. 14 or the Congres-sional Hearings on UFOs held by theHouse of Representatives Committee onScience and Astronautics on July 29,1969. After all, BBSR included informa-

tion on 25 times as many cases as wereinvestigated bythe Universityof Colorado. The unknownauthor actuallyclaimed that theCondign Reportwas the onlyother Govern-ment-sponsoredUFO study inEnglish besidesthe CondonReport.

To be released over 3-year period

One point that is clear about thecurrent MOD release is that it will beslow (over a 3-year period) and doneprimarily to save MOD personnel fromthe time currently being spent respond-ing to Freedom of Information requestsfor UFO information. Apparently thereare more requests for this informationthan for information about any othertopic. The press reports suggest therewill be 160 files dating back to perhapsthe 1970s. It is not clear how manypages are in each file. One past com-ment suggested that there were perhaps100 pages per file. It is certain that fileand report and case and page are notsynonymous. It is interesting to me thatthe people taking most of the credit forgetting the MOD to release materials arethe same ones who pushed for releaseof the Condign Report. It would appearfrom their comments that they reallydon’t believe that exciting materials arebeing withheld. Their names are JoeMcGonagle, Dave Clarke, and GaryAnthony Another skeptic, Andy Rob-erts, may also be involved. They always

Friedman: MOD Breakthrough?Continued from page 16

seem to bring up the fact that NickPope, of the MOD UFO desk, was onlyspending perhaps a day per week onUFO related activities as opposed tobeing a full time UFO investigator.

I have learned not to be veryoptimistic about important governmentreleases of UFO information. The 92microfilm reels of the Blue Book fileshave been available at the NationalArchives in Maryland since the mid-1970s. Names of witnesses have beenredacted. We know from JimMcDonald’s review of some of thesefiles in the 1960s that case after casewas very poorly investigated and thatso called explanations were oftenabsurd. In more recent years, research-ers Brad Sparks and other members ofProject 1947 have reevaluated loads ofthese files.

We also know from the October20, 1969, memo from USAF GeneralCarroll Bolender that UFO reportswhich could effect national securitywere NOT part of the Blue Booksystem. These were submitted usingCIRVIS (Communications Instructionsfor Reporting Vital IntelligenceSightings) forms. Blue Book wasn’t onthe distribution list. Furthermore therewere very few TOP SECRET reportsthat have ever been disclosed. An FBImemo long ago said that the Army andNavy and Air Force consider thesubject of UFOs to be TOP SECRET.When the CIA finally responded to thelegal push by CAUS (Citizens againstUFO Secrecy) for the CIA UFO files, the CIA released about 900 pages ofmaterial. None were classified higherthan SECRET. They listed 79 docu-ments from a total of several otheragencies which they couldn’t release

Eighteen of the unreleased docu-ments were from the National SecurityAgency. These were TOP SECRETCode word. When finally a courtordered search was done by the NSA,in response to a CAUS Freedom ofInformation Act legal suit, they actually

found 239 UFO documents of which79 were from other agencies. Nonewere releasable because of sources andmethods info. Twenty-three of the 79were from the CIA. It took me twoyears to get about a dozen which hadbeen, believe it or not, press abstractsof Eastern European newspaperarticles about UFOs, which the Rus-sians had the day they were published. Ihave no idea why they weren’t immedi-ately released in response to myrequest. The CIA’s own 11 TOPSECRET UFO documents were with-held. Upon appeal, I finally receivedportions of four of them—three yearslater. They were very heavily censoredwith black ink. Many years later theNSA finally released 160 TOP SECRETUMBRA UFO documents. As mighthave been expected they were soheavily censored with white correctionfluid, that one could read only a line ortwo per page. At least we can provethey are withholding plenty of UFOmaterials and these all predate 1980.Can one really believe that 98% of thematerial in these documents is Sourcesand Methods information? I can’t. Butthe US press has not gone after thecensored material. Also I must ask:where is all the post 1980 material?

We know that there have beenclose relationships between Americanand British armed forces in general andintelligence agencies in particular formany decades. The NSA has listeningposts in the UK. Both countries arecertainly monitoring their skies forforeign intrusions which, of course, have to include those of uncorrelatedtargets—such as high performanceflying saucers. Surely there are proce-dures for sharing at the highest levels?

The point here is that I have noreason to expect that the British Minis-try of Defense will come clean anymore than the US government has.Nick Pope worked as the MOD’s UFOdesk man for three years, a number ofyears back. He has been referred to as

the real Fox Mulder of X-Files fame. Itwould appear from comments he hasmade, that he is not aware of any reallyhigh security information in the MODfiles. It is also not clear whether heeven had a need-to-know for thatinformation just as Project Blue Bookpeople didn’t have a need-to-know forsightings which could affect nationalsecurity. Crashed saucers and battlesbetween interceptors and flying saucersare hardly likely to be made available.Nor are multiple witness radar visualcases, or observations from spysatellites over Britain or any place else.

There appears to be another compli-cation as well. The MOD will, generallyspeaking, be releasing its UFO files toThe National Archives. By British lawthis means that they need not release anyinformation now that is slated for releaseat some later time. Furthermore, at thattime there apparently will be a pagecharge for any copies of all materials. Inshort, life will be made simpler for theMOD and there will be delays in informa-tion release. We have known for a longtime that people in government usuallywork for the benefit of the government, not the benefit of the taxpayers payingtheir salaries. Theysaw a huge Mothership with bright lightsflying low and fast over the town ofStephenville, 60 miles south west of FortWorth on January 8, 2008. Witnessesclaim the object was larger, quieter, faster and closer to the ground than anaircraft.

Steve Allen, a pilot and freight com-pany owner, said: “The object I sawwas a mile long and half a mile wide,it was positively, absolutely nothingfrom these parts… People wonderwhat in the world it is because this isthe Bible Belt, and everyone is afraidit’s the end of times.”

Ricky Sorrells, a machinist, said hesaw, “a flat and seamless metallic ob-ject hovering about 300 feet over a field.”He used the telescopic sights of his rifeto get a close up view. (See more of thestory below).

What they saw and what I saw weretwo different objects, although in thesame part of the clear night sky! WhatI saw around the same time was higherup in the ENE clear sky and was like ablue star that was stationary and then

The next morning,Wednesday the 9th, the clearblue skies of Cleburne werebeing “chem-trailed” by four F-16s or other such military jets, making patterns that I took pho-tos of. Georgia – Two triangle-shaped craftwith orange lights

ENIGMA — I was going outside to bringin my dog on January 19, 2008, when Iwitnessed two triangle shaped objectsover our pasture at 10:21 AM. The craftswere hovering over some pine trees andwere standing still. After a couple minutesit took off unlike any aircraft I have everwitnessed. They made no sound and thelight underneath the crafts was brightorange. Thanks to Peter DavenportDirector www.ufocenter.com

Gulf of Mexico TX – offshore disk UFO

GALVESTON BEACH — I workoffshore in the Gulf of Mexico and wasriding a crew boat back to the GalvestonBeach docks on January 13, 2008 whenI first saw the object in the eastern skylinewhile lying down in the sun. It was aperfectly sunny day and no clouds werein the sky. The boat was traveling north, northeast 20-30 miles off the coastline.

At first, I thought it was a bird butthere were no other birds around and itwasn’t moving. I turned to my friend nextto me and said, “Look at how high thatbird is, man!” His first words were, “Thatis no bird!” The object was stationary fora good five minutes, so it was not a plane. All of sudden while I was looking straightat it, the object vanished and neverreappeared. The object was white andcurved at the top and flat on the bottom.Almost like a saucer but, it had a slit goingthrough the side of it halfway. Thanks toPeter Davenport Directorwww.ufocenter.com

Oregon – dragonfly?

If you want to see hundreds of UFOsflying in a pattern in addition to manymore flying into and out of the pattern Ican instruct you how to do exactly that. You will need a video camera with a ratherlong lens (I use a Canon G2) as thesecraft are not visible to the unaided eyedue to speed, distance and you will belooking directly toward the sun. I havenearly five hours of video tape (DV) andabout 3,000 digital stills (Sony 828) shotin a number of locations at different timesover the last two years in Oregon andCalifornia.

These craft can be photographed anytime the sun is shining. Did you get that? This is not a onetime event. I get the sameresults every time I set up my camera, every time. I have a theory that we canhail these craft. Are you ready forcontact? There is one craft that is mostprevalent but by no means the only typeseen. One appears to be manufactured onearth most likely by a secret program ofthe US military. It looks like a conventionalfighter jet except for whatever powers itmakes a bright light originating from the

wing tips that crosses the middle of thefuselage making it look much like adragonfly. It is extremely fast perhaps 10to 20 miles per second. This representssnowflakes on the tip of the iceberg. Thanks to MUFON CMS

Pennsylvania crash

KECKSBURG — A spokesman forNASA finally admitted NASA hadexamined metallic fragments from theobject that crashed at Kecksburg overforty years ago and now claims it wasfrom a re-entering “Russian satellite.”Furthermore, the spokesman claimed allrecords were lost. According to anAssociated Press story: The objectappeared to be a Russian satellite that re-entered the atmosphere and broke up.NASA experts studied fragments from theobject, but records of what they foundwere lost in the 1990s. It was taken forexamination to Wright Patterson Air ForceBase. Thanks to Steitz.

airplane. It was flying so close to theground, and I live on the hill, so I wassurprised it passed over the hillside. It wasa really huge object, nothing like you wouldsee in the U.S. Air Force, or probably anyair force in the world, it was too big. Itwas snowing too badly to see how big ittruly was. All I could see was the lights. Thanks to Peter Davenport Directorwww.ufocenter.com

FULLERTON – I was drivingnorthward on Highway 57 on January 27,2008, and from 5:50 to 6:00 PMCalifornia when I saw two lights weaving“radically” over the freeway, merging inand out of the sky. There was also ahelicopter flying above the lights. At first,I thought the lights were two flares. Butno flare can flash on and off and crosseach other. One of the lights flew rightabove the freeway bypass in the middleof the lane I was driving on and it wasabout 50 feet away and about 25 feetabove the freeway. Then the lightsdisappeared. At one point, the two lightsdisappeared and reappeared in separateareas. Traffic was stopping and therewere a lot of witnesses.

Comments: The witness reported thesighting a few hours after it occurred.Apparently several cars were stopped toview the lights. Given the witness reportI don’t know what was observed. It isinteresting to note that a helicopter wasflying above the lights. Thanks to BillPuckett UFOS Northwest http://ufosnw.com

New York – flying triangle

NEWBURGH — I was walking my dogand lights to my right caught my attention.I cannot give them a true color as weknow it…they were not white and notyellow. They had a very “warm” hue, yetbright and steady. There were no blinkinglights and the shape was between atriangle and horseshoe. Not as sharp as atriangle yet more pointed than ahorseshoe. The area is very close to amilitary base so I am VERY used toaircraft, but what was most odd aboutthis is that it was not the sound that caughtmy attention - but how inordinately lowand how methodically it was flying. There

was an odd, methodical steadiness of thelights and movement.

The other odd thing was once Inoticed it, I could then hear a soft (almostmuffled) whooshing sound. I’d say thatis a UFO…..but then low and behold itliterally hovered for just a second rightabove this exceptionally large pine tree thatstands out above the tree line and hungthere in a complete stopped position. As Istarted to move further out onto my driveto make sure I was really seeing this“plane” just hovering, it lowered straightdown. No angle to the lowering, just astraight line down at the same methodicspeed it had been flying. I havedetermined there is actually about a 30acre field within ¼ mile of where itappeared lower straight down.

About ten minutes later, I heard anexceptionally LOUD boisterous militaryaircraft engine fly directly over my home.I again ran outside but I could not see theaircraft. If I had to give it a direction itappeared to be flying towards the HudsonRiver. Thanks to Peter Davenport Directorwww.ufocenter.com

Australia – witness films three-levelobject

SYDNEY — I was out on my balcony inearly May 2007 about 6:30 p.m., and sawa funny looking star in the north-west skyat dusk, just dark. I took some pictures, but didn’t look at the picture until today, and all I have done is crop it a bit. I wasexpecting to see something like an asteroidwith a tail or something not a three level

Texas

SAN ANTONIO – On January 26, 2008,a UFO visits us regularly. I first noticedthe visitations around November when Iwas actually filming and investigatingchemtrail patterns over Northern SanAntonio. I began noticing a strong lightin the evening hours which I dismissedfor Venus. Some days it was visible inthe same area of sky and the next it wasnot. I am a religious person and wouldpray outside a prayer and since then thesevisitations had become more frequent, until I stopped praying this prayer recently.I do not claim that this prayer is bringingthem around, just the oddness of ithappening when it was said.

The lights would change color likewhen you look at a satellite at night and Iagain thought maybe this was the caseuntil it started moving in patterns nottypical of helicopters, planes or balloons. At about the size of a peanut from arms

length it is neutral for about one minute, then it descends to about the size of awatermelon at arm’s length. It then makeswhat I can only call “shots” across thesky in various directions for about anotherminute, then the color patterns beginagain of amber, green, blue and redrotating in different areas of a circlepattern.

I managed on my last day of doingthis prayer to capture it coming downvery low almost like it was scanning orwanted a closer look at me and amsubmitting it here for anyone to look at.It is not common aircraft or a weatherballoon. I have seen plenty of those to beable to know the difference. The otherthing is there is no sound unless it comesdown close like the one in these pictures, then it has a bumblebee sound but veryairy to it. I do not expect anyone tobelieve me nor do I care, I just had to getthis off my chest once and for all. Thanksto MUFON CMS

object with light on each level. I nearlyfell of the chair when I saw that threelevel one. I am on the north shore ofSydney (Lane Cove) which is about 10minutes drive to the City of Sydney. Itwas in the northwest. The object justseemed to sit there for five minutes so Itook some photos, then it was gone. Ithought it had just gone out of view. Thanks to Brian Vike, Director HBCCUFO Research. Email: [email protected]: http://www.hbccufo.org

Nevada – elongated triangle

MESQUITE COLLEGE – I was in theparking lot with a friend from 5:20 to 5:35PM, on November 21, 2007, when I ob-served what was first thought to be astrange exhaust pattern of a jet in the nightsky. However, there was no sound and itwas moving too slow, so I pointed it outto my friend. It was a flying/floating bargewith an elongated triangle shape, colorwas dark gray and huge! Perhaps 250–300 feet long and the butt end was about150–200' wide. No running lights exceptfor a single strobe which was emittedonce from the snout. It was about two orthree miles southwest of my position overthe river at an elevation of 2,400' to 3,000'moving south and turning southwest. Asmall plane with running lights crossedover it going west to east. It got too darkto see it. Had to get into class anyways.

I’d love to have one of these “SkyYachts!!!” http://www.space.com/b u s i n e s s t e c h n o l o g y /flying_triangle_040902.html

Rank State Director Weighted Assigned Completed Rank (50/50)

By Chuck ReeverMUFON Director of Investigations

Here is January’s CMS RankingReport for all State Directors. Con-gratulations to Ralph P. Flegal(Delaware), Cheryl Ann Gilmore(South Carolina), Jim King (Iowa),Tracey C. Smith (Kansas), andDonald R. Burleson (New Mexico)for being at 100%! The top 10 StateDirectors are highlighted.

The report is based on our twomeasures of UFO Investigationeffectiveness: assigning reports within72 hours of receipt, and completing allinvestigations within 90 days of beingassigned.

The “Assigned” column is a six-month running average of the numberof cases assigned within 72 hoursdivided by the total number of casesreceived in that six month period. The“Completed” column is the number ofcases completed beginning sixty-two(62) days back and going back sixmonths from there (for a total of eightmonths back) divided by the totalnumber of cases reported in the sameperiod. The “Weighted Rank” is justthe average of the two columnsexpressed as a percent.

State Directors can improve theirscores by being sure to assign allcases within 72 hours, and to follow upwith their Field Investigators to ensureall reports are completed within 90days. To be considered complete, areport must have been investigatedand placed in one of the three com-pleted status codes (Unknown, Hoaxor IFO) by the State Director.
