Thank you for your interest in visiting our beautiful campus. A Scavenger Hunt has been created for students for grade 8 and below to give then a fun experience exploring the campus. The packet of information contains: MU Information Scavenger Hunt Hints Talking Points for each stop Campus Map Scavenger Hunt’s do not need to be scheduled and allow more flexibility in your scheduling. Please be aware that we have classes in session throughout the entire year, including summer and winter. If you venture inside any of the academic buildings, please be courteous and keep the noise to a minimum so as not to disturb any classes. Lunch If you are planning on having lunch on campus, you will need to be in contact with Jill Montgomery of Dining Services, at 717-871-7587 and let her know that you will be having lunch at the “Upper Deck” which is open during the normal academic school year from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The current cost for lunch is $8.00 per person and you must confirm the actual number of attendees a week prior to your visit in order to avoid additional charges from Dining Services. Additionally, bagged lunches are not allowed in the dining facilities. Directions to the Lombardo Welcome Center Our GPS address is 45 James St. Millersville, PA 17551 and students can disembark in the roundabout next to the Lombardo Welcome Center or visit our website at: http://www.millersville.edu/directions/. After turning left onto George Street from Millersville Pike (Rt. 999), stay straight through both traffic lights towards the clock tower and follow the road around towards The Lombardo Welcome Center. Turn right into the roundabout to disembark. Bus Parking/Pick-up Location Proceed out of the roundabout and turn left back onto James Street towards the clock tower and proceed to the second traffic light and then turn left onto Cottage Avenue. Continue straight on Cottage Avenue until you see our baseball field and the Jefferson Building which are located on the left. The bus can park in the rear of the Jefferson lot. The bus will need to pick- up the students back at the original drop-off location. *If you are not arriving by bus, you will need to stop at the University Police Station, located in Lebanon House, and pick up a day pass to park on campus. Please note that parking passes are not needed on the weekends.

Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to Millersville University! Have fun and good luck!

1. Do you like music? Follow the map to the Winter Center and check out our recording studio.

2. Find the pond. Can you spot Millers and S’Ville, our two feathered friends?

3. Go to the Library and try to find the Garden Room.

4. Find Biemesderfer Stadium and Chryst field and take a jog or walk around the track.

5. Go to Osburn Hall. Can you can find our two award winning robots?

6. Go to Breidenstine Hall and walk through the Sykes Gallery. (Be careful and do not

touch the artwork).

7. Find the Marauder Statue and practice your best pirate stance.

8. Can you guess where students break a sweat in the Student Memorial Center?

9. What is the name of the dining hall in the Student Memorial Center?

10. Saxby’s is the coolest place to work on campus. Stop by and ask one of the students

why!

Talking Points

1. “Row, row, row your boat”/Winter Center (Number 12 Winter Center)

Dr. Lyte entered the normal school (now Millersville University) in 1866 after serving in the Civil War and teaching. Lyte was also a music writer, most famous for the nursery rhyme "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." The Winter and Visual Performing Arts Center also has a state-of-the-art Yamaha Clavinova piano lab.

2. Miller and S’ville (Location is at the pond) Miller and S’ville are our two resident swans here on campus. The pond is a place where many students can relax and study on nice days.

3. Francine McNairy Library and Learning Forum (Number 38)

This is the Francine G. McNairy Library and Learning Forum. It was newly renovated in the year 2013 upgrading the technology, adding floors, multiple study rooms and adding a Starbucks Cafe.

4. Biemesderfer Stadium and Chryst Field (Number 61)

Millersville University has 19 Division II sports teams to play or cheer for. Go Marauders! 5. Osburn Hall (located on the ground floor, Number 64)

Check out two of our award winning robots, Tom and Samson. Can you guess which robot kicked a field goal on Biemesderfer Stadium?

6. Breidenstine Hall- Art Gallery (Number 48, Recommend Bathroom Break)

Sykes Gallery, located off the main lobby of Breidenstine Hall, exhibits high quality, fine art work produced by professional artists. This gallery serves not only as the primary instructional resource for students studying the arts, but as a cultural resource center for the Millersville community and surrounding regions.

7. Mascots (Located outside Student Memorial Center 53)

Marauder

This land-bound pirate has been the mascot at Millersville since the 1930's. The Marauder is a huge sports enthusiast, especially for his favorite university. When the Marauder isn't on the sidelines supporting Millersville athletics, he can be found roaming around Lancaster in search of lost treasure. When students need some good luck for an upcoming exam, they place a penny at the feet of the Marauder statue outside of the Student Memorial Center.

Skully

Skully hatched in Millersville in 2004. He is an enthusiastic parrot that loves to be out and about in the community, along with his good friend, the Marauder. The only thing that Skully likes more than birdseed is going to Millersville sporting events to cheer on his favorite team. Skully sports an eye

patch, an earring, size 13 boots, and is always decked out in his school colors of black and gold. Skully loves hugs, and dancing to his favorite song "Shake Your Tail Feather."

8. Fitness Center (Located inside the Student Memorial Center 53)

The fitness center has exercise equipment, an indoor track, a multi-activity court, and different fitness rooms including a dance and yoga studio!

9. The Galley (Located in the Student Memorial Center 53)

The Galley is one of the many places can eat on campus. The Galley is famous for their brick oven pizza, chicken tender wrap, cheesesteaks and so much more!

10. Saxby’s (Located in Gordinier Hall, Number 54)

The Saxby’s Café was established in January 2017, and is student run. A student acts as the Café Executive Officer, or CEO, for the school year and helps manage the café. The student CEO will receive a semester’s worth of credits as well as a stipend for running the café as part of the Entrepreneurship program on campus.

General Info: Millersville is a four year Liberal Arts University. We are one of 14 state schools in Pennsylvania, some of our sister schools include Kutztown and Shippensburg University.
