Department of Labor/Job Corps

MTS provides outreach services to the small business community on behalf of the Department of Labor Job Corps program. Activities to facilitate the outreach services include:

• Informing small business of contracting opportunities within Job Corps

DMI-Services allows government and non-governmental organizations to share data during the preparation, response, and recovery from disasters in a real-time environment as incidents unfold. MTS’ support has taken the product from conception to release and includes:

Department of EnergyEmerging Threats and Evolving Technologies (ET2)

MTS conducted an independent study for the Department of Energy to:

• Research emerging threats and evolving technologies,

• Research a timeframe when these threats may become viable weapons,

• Assess DOE vulnerabilities to these threats and the potential consequences of attacks against DOE facilities.

MTS also developed the methodology to catalog the threat events.

MTS’ support to MCTSSA (located at Camp Pendleton, CA) is focused on the Systems Integration Facility (SIF) to include:

• Systems Integration – Integrating the Marine Ground Task Force Afloat Node for MCTSSA;

• Programming – Developing a tool which integrates independent legacy systems into a web-enabled application that allows efficient scheduling, monitoring, and reporting on test events; and

• Information Assurance – Coordinatingthe DoD IT Security Certification andAccreditation Process (DITSCAP) forthe SIF, which will result in the draftingof a Systems Security AuthorizationAgreement (SSAA).

MTS is supporting the objectives and scope of the ILC office which include providing:

• Analysis of the information assurance security framework for the proposed information infrastructure

• Program support to Camp Lejeune field trials of the ILC program

• Program support to the Marine Forces Pacific Experimentation Center to assist in the experimentation and demonstration planning/design and execution of ILC activities

• Analysis of logistics data exchange mechanisms and interface synchronization process

Office of Naval ResearchWarfighting Concepts (WARCON) to Future Weapon System Designs

The goal of WARCON is to provide the warfighter with information to make informed decisions on the acquisition of future warfighting systems. To achieve this, WARCON:

• Utilizes modeling and simulation (M&S) and analysis to examine the effect of alternate designs on a baseline system

• Uses M&S to provide a process for evaluating various systems and technologies for future acquisition programs

• Helps lower life-cycle costs through the operations research/ operations analysis process

United States Marine CorpsCombined Arms Staff Trainers (CAST) - Upgrade

MTS’ initial tasks included:

• Assessing the training requirements in the Marine Corps' CAST facilities,

• Evaluating potential technology insertion opportunities, and

• Developing a draft Preliminary Concept Design and a draft Software Development Plan for the CAST Upgrade.

Upgrades in advanced information and training technology will include tactical communication network emulation, enhanced information visualization, and simulation.

Telemedicine (TMED) – Medical Surveillance System (MDSS)

MTS has expertise is coordinating world-wide military medical exercises. MTS has developed training materials and conducted MDSS training to Naval medical personnel. The purpose of the TMED-MDSS project is to:

• Test and evaluate the MDSS and associated technologies

• Plan and test the evaluation of the Personal Digital Medical Assistant (PDMA)

• Evaluate current telemedicine uses by the military, particularly Naval applications

MTS personnel participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, providing onsite MDSS training for medical personnel stationed at Central Command, Camp Doha, Qatar.

Naval Health Research CenterIntegrated Voice Medical Tools Concept of Operations (IVMTCO)

The goal of the IVMTCO is to increase information available to the individual warfighter and will lead to the development of two systems:

• Field Medical Companion (FMC) – intended for self-aid and first responders in far-forward or remote environments; will provide up-to-date medical content for particular regions of the world via Medical Information Modules (MIM) that are unique to those individual countries/regions

• Portable Medical Assistant (PMA) – a light-weight, portable, voice-interactive device used to display and record patient information, and complete required medical forms

Naval Health Research Center

MTS has developed two lightweight, portable Voice Interactive Device (VID) prototypes for the Army and Navy that utilize voice recognition and activation technologies, as well as touch screen input capability. The MRS program has the capability of:

• Interfacing with the current NVIS Shipboard Automated Medical System

• Assisting safety and health personnel to rapidly and accurately enter patient data into a database

• Improving data acquisition and transmissioncapabilities

• Providing a more accurate and informative interface with other medical and decision-making systems

MTS is developing and integrating a voice activated, vehicle-mounted diagnostics computer system with a Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT).

The VID2 prototype will also address the difficulty of reliable voice activation within high-noise environments, such as within the HEMTT cab. The VID2 prototype will include:

• A speech interface between the operator and the HEMTT IEMT

• Navigation map & global positioning system

• Automatic identification technology assettracking system

• Vehicle diagnostics system

• A wireless computer for use by vehiclemaintenance personnel
