“I need some direction and answers!”
I. One of God’s most generous, gracious, and meaningful life fulfilling gifts is the loving another that
results in a marriage between a man and a woman. A marriage between a man and a woman, guided
by the teachings in Holy Scripture, is a relationship that provides the premiere experience duplicating our
relationship with our loving heavenly Father.
However, it appears that such a concept is being lost in our current understanding of marriage
and love. Somehow many churches have become negligent in lifting up the glorious truths God has given
us regarding marriage. Where can one find helpful and powerful perspectives for a life of blessing in
marital relationship? One excellent source for examining the issues related to the truth of Scripture,
common sense, and guidance can be found in the book written by Ravi Zacharias titled “I Isaac, take Thee,
REBEKAH.” In his book Dr. Zacharias reveals several vital principles of a godly marriage including striving
for purity, preparing the heart for a healthy marriage, learning the value of prayer, and practicing kind-
ness in the marital relationship.
Dr. Zacharias writes about the deep and rich meaning of “I Do.” His intent is to provide a
meaningful response to the reality that ‘love is still what people long for.” His perspective is that marital
and satisfying love is ‘still the theme of dreams.’
If you would like to possess greater understanding regarding a godly and Christian marriage,
provide your young people a superb resource for a healthy perspective regarding marriage, or become
better equipped to provide guidance from a Biblical point of view for discussing marriage I would strongly
recommend your read Dr. Zacharias’ book.
II. Are you one of those who is feeling a significant sense of uneasiness because the contemporary scene
seems to becoming highly atheistic and more ungodly? I would have to respond that your concern is well
grounded.
A very helpful book titled “The End of Reason; A RESPONSE TO THE NEW ATHEISTS” by Ravi
Zacharias may be just the book you need to read for some immediate understanding. The book is written
in a letter style, very easy to read, as a response to the writings of Sam Harris’s book, ‘Letter To a Christian
Nation,’ one of the most vicious attacks upon the Christian faith every written. It is well written and
helpful to any believing Christian to better deal with a worldview that has made such a destructive impact
on the thinking of many young people today. Take a look at both books on the pastor’s recommended
reading list in the narthex of the church.
May our Lord and God bless you richly in your growing in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

Another opportunity to join
the Music Ministry at
Mt. Olivet! Watch for hand
chime rehearsals to begin
and join in!
The EMA Food Pantry
has a couple of
fundraising
opportunities on the
month of October:
Sunday October 25th:
1. National Make a Difference Day area youth groups will
walk through OUR neighborhood and collect food for the
pantry. Be sure and donate.
2. The Barn-n-Bunk will have their 3rd annual
pie bake-off. After the contest, the pies are auctioned
off. That brought $700 into the pantry last year! The
Barn-n-Bunk fall festival will be going on at the same time!
Great family fun!!
