Minesight Interactive Planner Training Notes

Updated: January 2007

Required: March 2007 and April 2007 Monthly Plans

Pit Topo as of March 1, 2007: (PH1 2540 bench finished)

PH1: In ore and 3 benches remaining (2525, 2510, 2495)

PH2: Stripped down to 2645 and 2630 bench already started. PH2 must become main source of ore when PH1 is finished.

Ore Call: 1 million tonnes/month

March Plan:

1. Create Solid for Phase 1 Ramp from 2540 – 2525

a. Display PH1 design and Digitize two points per ramp outline. One Point at 2540 the other at 2525. Use Point Snap

1

Page 2: MSOP-IP

Step 2: Use Polyline à Substring à Smooth to curve the straight lines.

2

Page 3: MSOP-IP

3

Page 4: MSOP-IP

Then check width with scalable cursor and Move Point locked Z if required.

Then Join and Close.

b. Adjust Polyline Elevations to ramp gradient usingPolyline à Substring à Adjust Polyline Elevations

c. Join and Close to make a Polygon

4

Page 5: MSOP-IP

d. Extrude up to 2540 elevation to make ramp excavation solid.

2. Setup Minesight Interactive Planner Setup steps: (1 time only)

1. Copy Attrib13_16.mdb from WINEXE directory to your Project Directory. Rename it to Planning.mdb

2. Click DataBase à Database management à Connect to Attributed Database

You are now going to setup a New ODBC connection to the Planning.mdb Access database by doing the following:

a. Click Machine Data Source Tab on Select Data Source window and click New

b. Specify User data Source

c. Pick Access Driver

d. Click Finish on next Window

6

Page 7: MSOP-IP

e. Fill in a name and description and click Select button

f. Highlight Planning.mdb and click OKg. Click OK again and you should see the following

h. Click OK and you are done establishing your ODBC connection

3. Minesight IP for Monthly Plans(Note: Minesight Newsletter August 2004 is good reference for using IP)

a. Create a New Interactive Planning Object called Monthly Plan in Folder IP

b. Create a New IP Set called Monthly Plan

7

Page 8: MSOP-IP

c. Fill in Area Tab of IP Tool window and Save As Area-1Blocks with Route = 1 are ore and blocks with Route = 2 are Waste

d. Fill in Material Sets Tab of IP Tool window and Save As Route

Check Autoslicer Box for activating automatic constant tonnage cut generation. Specify Area-1 as the Area

8

Page 9: MSOP-IP

e. Click Design Cuts and fill in Defaults Tab as shown:(minimize IP-Tool window but do not close)

Add Ph1 and Ph2 to the pull down lists of Mining Areas and add March-2007 and April-2007 to the pull down lists of Period ID’s

Set defaults to Ph1 and March-2007

9

Page 10: MSOP-IP

f. Fill in Attributes Tab

Use Edit Tab to add following user-attributes to the Access DataBase:Truck-Hours (Type = Text; no default)Shovel-Hours (Type = Text; no default)Truck-ID (Type = Text; default = 170)Shovel-ID (Type = Text; default = PH2800-1)Drill-ID (Type = Text; default = Drill-1)Phase (Type = Text; default = Ph1)

10

Page 11: MSOP-IP

Use Add tab to specify which attributes you want for this monthly plan

g. Fill in Scripts Tab with Mintec supplied scripts located in C:\Winexe\scripts\reserves

11

Page 12: MSOP-IP

h. Click Geometry to Cut icon and Select Ramp solid as first Cut for March 2005 plan

Tonnes and Grades for Ramp and Cumulatives for March

Save ramp Cut ( give it a cut name of Ramp)

12

Page 13: MSOP-IP

i. Change to 2-D view on bench 2525 and digitize a cut with sufficient ore for March. Save and give it a cut name Cut-1

13

Page 14: MSOP-IP

j. Go up to Phase 2 on 2630 bench.Assume 2630 must be finished in 2 months. We will use the Autoslicer to do this.

j.1 First digitize a polygon using Polyline à Create Polygon for the whole bench (geometry object Ph2-2630)

j.2 In IP click Geometry to cut and select polygon just created. Total tonnes = 2,007,176.

14

Page 15: MSOP-IP

Don’t save this cut.

j.3 Now digitize a polyline using Polyline à Create Polyline in the direction of advance on 2630 level (geometry object Ph2-2630-advance)

15

Page 16: MSOP-IP

j.4 In IP click on Autoslicer icon and split 2630 Ph2 tonnage of 2,007,176 into two cuts of 1,003,588 tonnes each. (1 cut for March and 1 cut for April).

16

18

Page 19: MSOP-IP

k. Open 2630-cut-2 and Change Period ID to April-2007

19

Page 20: MSOP-IP

k. Run ip-period.py script to see current March and April Totals

We are over target on the ore in March (1,198,749) because of the ore we picked up on 2630 bench. You should now go and edit geometry on the 2525 Ph1 ore cut to get closer to the 1,000,000 ore tonnage target.

After that add cuts to complete April plan.

3. Color-coding Cuts by Month

In IP-Tool Dialogue Click Edit à Properties

20

Page 21: MSOP-IP

4. Labels:

a. Run script IP-Labels.py and store cut information in geometry object Cut-labels

b. change properties of Cut-labels, edit and move the information if necessary.

c. Click coordinate grid Icon to toggle on coordinates. Change grid

spacing, etc. using Viewer Properties Icon and Grid Tab

5. Reports:

Common Mintec reporting scripts are IP-Report.py, Ip-Period.py, and IP-Flatreport.py for viewing report info in Excel..

6. Plotting

a. Create a title Block

22

Page 23: MSOP-IP

b. Create a Legend

Click Print à Preview in Plot Layout Editor dialogue:

27

Page 28: MSOP-IP

Plane Selection dialogue is for 2D plots (i.e. set of bench maps, sections, etc.). Since we are in 3-D this dialogue can be ignored. Just click OK button.

Plot Preview:

28

The pit is centered in the plot and the surrounding topo is clipped to what can fit on the paper size (A4) at 5000 scale.

Add the Title Block

On Area Tab click + sign box.

29

Page 30: MSOP-IP

A white background plot icon will appear:

Click on it and drag to lower left-hand corner position

30
