SECURITY NOTICEIts a sad commentary on the times but security must
be in the forefront of our mind. We are fortunate thatwe have never had any problems or incidents in the par-ish or at the school but even so for the protection of ourchildren, staff and parishioners we feel it is time to im-prove our security. We want to remain a friendly andinviting parish but you will notice a few changes.
When you visit the parish office you will be asked tosign in, wear a visitors sticker and wait for the per-son youre visiting to come and greet you.
Only the Parish door and the school door will beopen during the day.
When the Parish closes at 4pm all doors will belocked
At 6pm, when security arrives, the side door, facingthe Serra Center, will be open for evening activities.
All staff and volunteers will wear name badges soyou can identify them. Soon our maintenance and
security staff will be in uniform so that they can beidentified as well.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperationin adhering to these new security policies. We knoweveryone cares deeply about the safety of our staff, chil-dren, parishioners and visitors. YOU can save a life!

ARE YOU BREATHING UNDER WATER?An opportunity for all those who wish to journey through
spiritual growth using Scripture and the 12 Steps. Beginning: Wednesday August 29th From 7:00pm-8:30pm, Rm. #21 of the McKeon Ctr. For information, call Bill Bischoff at 760-547-0702
RCIAINQUIRY: Have you ever had questions about theCatholic Church? How do you become a member of theCatholic Church? For those not baptized, baptized in anotherChristian church, or baptized Catholic but inactive in thechurch, please call 760-547-0702.
ASSIST WITH A BIBLE: At the Easter Vigil our parish com-munity witnessed forty five people receiving the sacramentsnecessary to complete their full entrance into the Church. One of the key elements of their catechesis is the coming toknow the Scriptures, the Word of God, on a weekly basis. Inclass during the week and again when they gather on Sunday, they come to build a relationship with Jesus Christ that they
will carry with them for all their lives. For this to take place the RCIA catechumens & candidatesare given a Bible at the Rite of Acceptance ceremony markingthe beginning of their journey of faith. Our parish faith forma-tion budget is stretched this year trying to cover many, many, needs. Your help to provide Bibles to our RICA groups (bothEnglish & Spanish) will be greatly appreciated. A donation of$20.00, or of any amount, would help us in purchasing a Biblefor each RCIA catechumen or candidate entering the Churchnext Easter. If you wish to give, you may make a donation atthe Parish Office, in Bill Bischoffs office, or drop it into thecollection in an envelope marked BIBLES. If you have anyquestions call Bill Bischoff at 760-547-0702.
Many of the people coming into the Church have many
questions about the place of the Blessed Mother in the life ofthe Church. In their time spent in RCIA many times a strongdevotion to Mary comes about for the new Catholic. There-fore a need for an adult rosary to be given to them is also apart in the RCIA process. A donation of $10.00 would help inacquiring rosaries for these individuals. The same manner forgiving is as written above. Any questions please call Bill Bisch-off at 760-547-0702.

ELEMENTARY, JR. HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL NEEDSCATECHISTS/TEACHERS
Our Parish is so fortunate to have such a dedicated andwell-trained staff, working so diligently through the summerto plan and coordinate the calendar for the upcoming reli-gious education school year. Bill, Larry and Elena have gath-ered and trained a wonderful group of caring and creativecatechists to share their Christian faith and love of Catholictraditions with our young people.
What does it take to be a part of this group? Someonewho lives and practices our faith, participates in Mass andhas a desire to share their faith with our children and teens. We are in need of catechists/teachers for Elementary and Jr.High/High School; classes are on Sundays and Tuesdays re-spectively with some on Saturday for the High School pro-gram. Training, resources, etc., are provided.
Last year, our programs combined had a total of 800 stu-dents. In the high school program, many of our teachers
have moved on for this year and are unable to volunteer;we need 8 men and/or women who are willing to share andteach the faith, engage in discussion and faith experienceswith our young people, to serve as teachers and aides.
If you are able to help, come and speak with Bill, Larry orElena and they will provide you with the tools and trainingnecessary to enrich your involvement with the children andthe youth of our Parish. As Jesus called St. Francis, we areall called to build His church, and the best way tostrengthen your faith and increase the love in your heart isto share it with the younger church, as they are the futureof our faith.
If you are interested in helping with First Grade thru EightGrade please stop by the Religious Ed. Office, call 760-547-0712 or email [email protected]; for HighSchool, see or contact Bill Bischoff at 760-547-0702 /[email protected]
