    sustainedcausingcerebralhypoxia(lackofoxygentothebrain),neurologiceffectssuchasamnesia,

    ThisproductmaycontainKeroseneatalevelof>1.0%.Lifetimeskinpaintingstudiesinanimalswith

    similarmiddledistillatefueloilsandgasoilshaveproducedtumoursfollowingprolongedandrepeated

    skincontact.Somemiddledistillatesand/orlightgasoils,whentestedatnonirritatingdoselevels,did

    notshowanysignificantcarcinogenicactivityindicatingthatthistumorigenicresponsemayberelatedto

    chronicirritationandnottodose.Repeateddermalapplicationhasproducedsevereirritationand

    systemictoxicityinsubacutetoxicitystudies.Somecomponentsofthisproduct,i.e.,paraffinsand

    olefins,havebeenshowntoproduceaspeciesspecificsexhormonaldependentkidneylesion

    inmaleratsfromrepeatedoralorinhalationexposure.Subsequentresearchhasshownthatthekidney

    damagedevelopsviatheformationofalpha2uglobulin,amechanismuniquetothemalerat.Humans

    donotformalpha2uglobulin,therefore,thekidneyeffectsresultingfromthismechanismarenot

    relevantinhumans.Somecomponentswerefoundtobepositiveinafewmutagenicitytestswhile

    negativeinthemajorityofothers.Theexactrelationshipbetweentheseresultsandhumanhealthisnotknown.

    Thisproductmaycontain>0.1%naphthalene.Exposuretonaphthaleneat30ppmfortwoyearscaused

    lungtumoursinfemalemice.Malemicewiththesameexposuredidnotdeveloptumors.Exposureto10

    60ppmnaphthalenefor2yearscausedtumoursinthetissueliningofthenoseandrespiratorytractin

    maleandfemalerats.Oraladministrationof133267mg/kg/dayofnaphthaleneinmiceforupto90days

    didnotproducemortality,systemictoxicity,adverselyaffectorganorbodyweightorproducechangesin

    blood.Repeatedoraladministrationofnaphthaleneproducedananemiaindogs.Repeatedintra

    peritonealdosesofnaphthaleneproducedlungdamageinmice.Repeatedhighdosesofnaphthalenehas

    causedtheformationofcataractsandretinotoxicityintheeyesofratsandrabbitsduetoaccumulationof

    1,2naphthoquinone,

    atoxic

    metabolite.

    Pregnantratsadministeredintraperitonealdosesofnaphthaleneduringgestationgavebirthtooffspring

    heart

    bone

    development.

    Pregnant

    mice

    given

    lethal

    doses

    naphthalene

    showednosignificantmaternaltoxicityandareductioninthenumberofpupsperlitter,butnogross

    abnormalitiesinoffspring.Suppressedspermatogenesisandprogenydevelopmenthavebeenreportedin

    mice,ratsandguineapigsafterexposuretohighconcentrationsofnaphthaleneintheirdrinkingwater.

    Certaingroupsorindividuals,i.e.,infants,Semites,Arabs,AsiansandBlacks,withacertainbloodenzyme

    deficiency(glucose6phosphatedehydrogenase)areparticularlysusceptibletohemolyticagentsandcan

    rapidlydevelophemolytic anemiaandsystemicpoisoningfromingestionorinhalationofnaphthalene.

    12.ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

    Ecotoxicityeffects: Ifspilled,hotproductand/orthecoatingactionoftheoilcomponents

    couldharmplantlife.Thisproductdoesnotconcentrateoraccumulate

    inthefoodchain.Thisproductisnotexpectedtocauseanyacuteor
