About the course

The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Professional Studies (Social Work Practice Education) is relevant for experienced social workers who want to

develop their knowledge and skill base in order to take on the Practice Education role with social work students on practice placements.

Taking the learning further

This Certificate is part of the MSc in Applied Professional Studies. This means that those who complete the full Postgraduate Certificate will be able to progress on to a

PG Diploma and then on to an MSc. It is possible for those who previously studied at SCQF Level 10 (Graduate Certificate) to undertake a portfolio (at Level 11) if they

wish to progress on to the Diploma.

PG Diploma (one year) Students can choose from a range of modules within the MSc framework in their second year of study, allowing them to build credit and relevant study towards a

Diploma in Applied Professional Studies.

MSc (normally one year) Students will attend group tutorials and receive online teaching on research methods. They

will be allocated a supervisor to support them to undertake an empirical study on a practice-relevant topic and to submit a 15,000-word dissertation.
