To my class 5-4I hope you realize that you have created a beautiful work of art, which hangs over our heads.

I wonder if you have stopped to think about how much you have accomplished. You listened attentively to our read-aloud about Michelangelo. Then you spent time searching for and reading information on the Internet about this amazing artist. You searched for images of his to inspire your own creations.

You then use what you had learned to work in groups to begin to create your own masterpieces. You worked beautifully in your groups and it was a real pleasure for me to see how focused you were and committed to your work. You helped each other and together produced something beautiful that you can be very proud of.

You then took time to reflect, to think about what you’d done and learned, and produced lovely pieces of writing, which can now be share with others.

Most of you have told me that this experience has been fun. Learning is always fun, it is life itself. I hope this helps you realize that all those dead people we learned about when we study Social Studies or read are really opportunities to learn from marvelous people that lived before us and that can inspire us to do great things.

I am so very proud of all of you and what you have accomplished, you should also be proud of yourselves… and… what you have accomplished, you should also be proud of you as well.

Michelangelo True Sculptor

By Erik Dolores

Hi, my name is Erick Dolores a few weeks ago we got inspired by the wonderful sculptor Michelangelo, we made a masterpiece that he did ago it is the Sistine Chapel our class was a riot making this!!!

Michelangelo was a very famous sculptor. His most important profession was to be a sculptor. Michelangelo was the one who sculpted the state of DAVID. Do you know who David is?? No, well David is the guy who threw the stone and beat the giant. Michelangelo made a world masterpiece do you know what I was? Well, it was the SISTINE CHAPEL, it took only four years to paint it. He painted it for a pope from Italy.

Let me tell you a little about Michelangelo’s childhood. Michelangelo Buonarroti was born in Florence, Italy in 1475, during a time known as the Renaissance. When he was born his mother was to ill to take care of him so his father took him to live with a family of stonecutters. Michelangelo was only thirteen when he was already in the streets of Florence when he was looking at paintings and other sculptors. At age twenty-four Michelangelo sculpted the statue of THE PIET . People realize he was very good I would have been screaming just to see it!

Today, people around the world still admire his wonderful pieces of sculptors that he made. When I grow up I would like to see one of his pieces, wouldn’t you!!!!!!

MichelangeloBy Victor Quiroz

Let me tell you about Michelangelo. He was a great artist and sculptor. On painting I like his Creation of Adam. One of his famous paintings is the Sistine Chapel. I think he was a great painter.

Michelangelo made so many incredible things like The David and The Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo didn’t really want to pint the Sistine Chapel. The Pope make him. The Pope at the time wanted Michelangelo to paint the ceiling for him. They argued and Michelangelo was stuck painting it. It took him 4 years!!!! Little did he know that it was going to be a majestic piece of work? I really do think he did a great job.

Michelangelo was inspiring us with some of the most unique, amazing and beautiful pieces of art and sculptures.

MichelangeloBy Maria Cordero

Hi, my name is Maria. I would like to tell you about Michelangelo. He was born to a stonecutter family, so you know where he got his inspiration. He liked architecture, painting and poetry. He made statues that look real. He made marks on his statues to show the expressions of the faces.

He lived during the 14 and 1500’s. He painted lot of Christian ‘stuff”.

One of my favorites is the Sistine Chapel. It took him four years to paint it. Another of his works that I like is the Statue of David holding his slingshot. When I look at it I can really see the expression in his face. When I look at it I remember the story of how he killed the giant.

These are a few of Michelangelo’s artwork pieces that I like. You should read about him sometime.

MichelangeloBy Brenda Hernandez

I discovered that Michelangelo was an awesome sculptor. One of his famous sculptures was David and I really thought it was beautiful. Another one of his famous accomplishments was the Sistine Chapel, it is a very colorful and creative work of art, it is the most beautiful art I have seen.

Some of my feelings about recreating Michelangelo, I felt like I had invented it. I also felt excited because my work of art was close to what Michelangelo did and that is why I felt excited.

Let me tell you about how I felt doing this activity about the Sistine Chapel. I felt that it was amazing and fun seeing the bright colors of work. Also, I felt that while we were working on it, I was having fun. When I looked at my work, I did not like it very much. Then everyone started saying it looked great and I should keep it up. I agreed with my classmates. I also thought my classmates work was great so they could also keep up the good work.

I think Michelangelo was a great artist, to do the Sistine Chapel, and to sculpt statues. This is what I think of how great Michelangelo was.

MichelangeloBy Fernando Lopez

Michelangelo was one of the most famous sculptors in Europe during the 15th a 16th centuries. He lived five hundred years ago. Michelangelo was the best sculptor at the time . Michelangelo didn’t like to paint because he liked to sculpt. One day Michelangelo was looking for a job and found one. His boss told him to paint the ceiling. Michelangelo took four years to paint this ceiling. When he finished Michelangelo had painted the Sistine Chapel.

The Sistine Chapel by class 5-4 was great. I did two drawings. One of my drawings was the Creation of Man. It was great fun drawing The fingers. My second drawing was the face of Adam. I enjoyed drawing the hair the most and inventing my own color. This was really great.

Michelangelo by Stephanie Toribio

Wow, I think Michelangelo was a great artist that knew how to make a lot of things. He made things our of rocks, stone and much more. To me he is a great artist, he painted the Sistine Chapel. It took him four years to paint all by himself and because of that I am inspired by his work.

Now that my classmates and I were inspired by the Sistine Chapel, we first read about him and then we wrote about how much we liked him. We got so into it that we made an inspired piece of the Sistine Chapel. That was so much fun!!!!

Now I am going to let you know how much I love his work, so much that I can now explain how much I love him and his work. I love his work, it just wows me. He was great!!!!

MichelangeloBy CruzMary De la Cruz

Hello my name is Cruzmary De la Cruz in class 5-4. A few weeks ago Michelangelo was inspiring us. We were so inspired that we did a Sistine Chapel. It was not as good but at least it didn’t take us four years. I was so inspired

Some things I remember about Michelangelo is that he didn’t only paint the Sistine Chapel. He also sculpted the famous statue David. This was also wonderful work. Michelangelo felt he was a sculptor not a painter but he still painted the Sistine Chapel.
