This method of statement covers the use of self-adhesive membrane waterproofing on

areas shown on approved drawings.

This method statement defines the responsibilities and describes the activities and

procedures to be implemented for the application of self-adhesive waterproofing

membrane for the Construction, Completion and aintenance of !oads, "ridges,

Storm #ater $rainage, Sewers and %ther Services for !oads Connecting Sabah al

&hmad and 'hiran (ew Towns -!&23) *ro+ect to compl with the contract drawings

and specification.

).& Resonsi*i!ities

3. The Site ngineer shall be responsible for the implementation of the wor/ in

accordance with this method statement and his responsibilities shall be, but not

limited, to the following

3.. *reparation of wor/ schedule

3..2 Supervising the wor/ to ensure the wor/ is performed properl.

3..3 *repare the necessar !e1uest for nspection !F4s5 and arrange

inspection with the consultant ngineer.

3..6 nsure that wor/ is done in accordance with this method statement and

with approved drawings and specification.

3.2 Speciali7ed #aterproofing sub-contractor shall be responsible for the

implementation of the wor/ in accordance with this method statement and

their responsibilities shall be, but not limited, to the following

to the wor/ if implemented in accordance with this method statement and

approved drawings.

3.6 The aterial ngineer shall submit to the ngineer for approval all the

materials to be incorporated in the waterproofing wor/s.

The Site ngineer and speciali7ed subcontractor, in coordination with the Safet

%fficer, shall be ensuring compliance with all safet re1uirements during the

implementation of this wor/ which shall include, but not limited to the following

>. *rovision and proper use of safet paraphernalia.

>.2 aintaining cleanliness at wor/ areas.

>.3 *roper disposal of e?cess and waste construction materials.

>.6 *roviding visible warning signs and8or barricades at wor/ areas when

necessar.

@. ?amine the concrete substrates and ad+oining construction, and the conditions

under which the membrane waterproofing is to be installed. $o not proceed

with the wor/ until unsatisfactor conditions detrimental to the proper and

timel completion of the wor/ have been corrected.

@.2 Coordinate with all related subcontractors prior to start of the wor/.

@.3 Surfaces shall be inspected for readiness to receive the bituminous primer.Surfaces to which the waterproofing materials shall be applied shall be surface

dr, smooth and free from dirt, grease and oil or other deleterious materials.

allow to dr naturall before appling the self-adhering membrane.

@.> &fter the primer has dried to the e?tent specified b the manufacturer, appl

the membrane sheet to the concrete without stretching with 20 mm overlaps

at edges and ends, and the sheet shall be rolled down firml and completel.

@.@ nside and outside corners shall be doubled b using an initial strip of 300 mmwide membrane, centered along the a?is of the corner. This strip shall be

covered b the regular application of self-adhering membrane. & troweled

bead of mastic shall be applied over all e?posed edges of the membrane.

@.A The membrane on blinding slabs shall e?tend to the outer edge of the slab and

shall be protected. Sidewall membrane shall e?tend down and out to the edge

of the previousl applied blinding slab membrane.

@.B &reas around drains, piping and protrusions shall be double covered with an

additional laer of self-adhering membrane for a minimum of 300 mm in each

direction beond the limits of the feature. The membrane edges shall be coated

and the gap between the membrane and protrusions shall be filled with mastic.

the +oint and e?tending full width of the roadwa and up to the membraneterminating point of the walls shall be applied.

@.0 "efore an wor/ is allowed to proceed above a waterproof membrane, or

within five das of its application whichever is the sooner, the membrane shall

be protected b an approved protection board as shown on the approved

drawings.
