Location of the Project Site:

The proposed housing scheme is located at Mouza - Chinchbhuvan, Wardha Road, Nagpur. Site is well connected with road network. The proposed project site is earmarked for Residential & Commercial use as per the local development plans and the proposed project is planned and designed as per the regulations and procedures laid down by the Local Authority. The location of the project site is shown in Enclosure-2

Surrounding Features:

The project site is a piece of plain vacant land earmarked for Residential use as per development plan of

Nagpur city. The terrain of the project site is leveled. The site is devoid of any outcrops and is not covered

by any notified forests or protected areas.

1.2 List out all the major project requirements in terms of the land area, built up area, water consumption, power requirement, connectivity, community facilities, parking needs etc.

Major Project Requirements Residential Housing Type : This is vacant plain piece of land and no clearance of land, vegetation and buildings structure is required. Some shrubs are need to be cleared.

For Commercial – Employees & Service Staff: 60% non-biodegradable and 40% biodegradable out of total 0.15 Kg/person /day For Visitors: 60% non-biodegradable and 40% biodegradable out of total 0.05 Kg/person /day The total quantities of solid waste that will be generated in the project will be 8547 kg/day out of which 3419 kg/day will be non-biodegradable and 5128 kg/day will be biodegradable.

1.3 What are the likely impacts of the proposed activity on the existing facilities adjacent to the proposed site? (Such as open spaces, community facilities, details of the existing land use, disturbance to the local ecology).

Residents & Commercial in this planned development area will have access to excellent facilities / amenities and will not create a burden on public facilities (like public toilets or common water connections). The site is in conformity with Development Plan of Nagpur. This project will not cause any adverse environmental impacts on the surroundings.

Project site will be developed into a Residential & Commercial development. Hence, there shall be some impacts on water, air environment, power requirement but it shall be mitigated by providing proper pollution control facilities. STP shall be provided for treatment of recycling of sewage there by reducing fresh water demand. Also for water conservation, rain water harvesting shall be done. Power consumption shall be reduced by using energy saving practices. Impact on air quality shall be reduced by development of green cover, which will enhance the local ecological character of the area. This project will generate employment during construction and operation phase and there by shall have positive impact on socio economy.

1.4 Will there be any significant land disturbance resulting in erosion, subsidence & instability? (Details of soil type, slope analysis, vulnerability to subsidence, seismicity etc. may be given).

The proposed construction will not involve major cutting and filling operations. The project will also involve development of green areas which would reduce the chances of erosion and subsidence. The area under study falls in zone-lI, which is least active area according to the Indian Standard Seismic Zoning Map. The structure has been designed with adequate Seismic safety factors.

1.5 Will the proposal involve alteration of natural drainage systems? (Give details on a contour map showing the natural drainage near the proposed project site)

There is no natural drainage passing through project area

1.6 What are the quantities of earthwork involved in the construction activity-cutting, filling, reclamation etc. (Give details of the quantities of earthwork involved, transport of fill materials from outside the site etc.?)

Excavation earth material (approx.194835 Cum) shall be reused on site for backfilling, plantation, landscape, internal roads etc.

1.7 Give details regarding water supply, waste handling etc. during the construction period.

Water Supply : Water Requirement during Construction Phase: By Water tankers (For Construction): 30 - 40 KLD. (Depending upon the construction activity) From Borwell (For Workers): 12 KLD Waste Handling : Various types of construction debris such as bricks, blocks, steel, formwork, finishing materials, etc. will be generated. The details are as follows:

1. Fly ash Bricks, metal chips, cut tiles will be used for internal paving. 2. The damaged / cut pieces of steel, glass etc. will be sold to scrap dealer. 3. Substratum removed during foundation and excavation will be used for back filling and for making

pathways as far as possible. 4. Balance construction wastes, if any, will be disposed to MSW site.

1.8 Will the low-lying areas & wetlands get altered? (Provide details of how low lying and wetlands are getting modified from the proposed activity) Not Applicable

1.9 Whether construction debris & waste during construction cause health hazard? (Give quantities of various types of wastes generated during construction including the construction labour and the means of disposal)

Various types of construction debris such as bricks, blocks, steel, formwork, finished materials will be generated.

The debris will be segregated and stored in separately earmarked area slightly away from construction site.

Excess waste / debris / substratum to be disposed as per NMC norms. Recycled water from STP will be used for Gardening, fire fighting and flushing purposes. Detailed hydrogeological study will be carried out.

2.3 What is the quality of water required, in case, the supply is not from a municipal source? (Provide physical, chemical, biological characteristics with class of water quality)

Domestic and drinking purpose water requirement will be fulfilled from Ground water (Borewell) consent

will be obtained from CGWA for extraction of water. Recycled water from STP and rain water harvested will

be used for Car washing, Gardening, Floor washing and flushing purposes. Analysis of water will be

detailed out in EIA report.

2.4 How much of the water requirement can be met from the recycling of treated wastewater? (Give the details of quantities, sources and usage)

All Secondary requirements like flushing (1057 KLD) and gardening (94 KLD) would be fulfilled by treated

sewage from STP. Excess treated sewage during non-monsoon and during monsoon shall be disposed to

proposed sewer line.

2.5 Will there be diversion of water from other users? (Please assess the impacts of the project on other existing uses and quantities of consumption).

The domestic water requirement will be sourced from Ground water. Hence, there shall be some impacts on water requirement but it shall be mitigated by providing proper facilities. STP shall be provided for treatment of recycling of sewage there by reducing fresh water demand. Also for water conservation, rain water harvesting shall be done. Use of recycled water from proposed STP and rain water harvested will further augment the water requirement of for car wash, gardening purpose for flushing purposes. Detailed hydrogeological study will be carried out.

2.6 What is the incremental pollution load from wastewater generated from the proposed activity? (Give details of the quantities and composition of wastewater generated from the proposed activity).

Sewage generation will be 2147 KLD. Treated sewage will be reused for flushing (1057 KLD) and gardening (94 KLD). Excess treated sewage during non- monsoon season & monsoon season shall be disposed to the proposed sewer line.

2.7 Give details of the water requirements met from water harvesting? Furnish details of the facilities created.

Rain water harvesting is proposed as a water conservation measure.

Roof drain pipes will be designed considering maximum intensity of rainfall.

Rain water will be collected by down take pipes, proper site grading, storm water drainage

channels, catch basins / trenches and piped drainage system, as appropriate.

Detailed hydrogeological study will be carried out.

2.8 What would be the impact of the land use changes occurring due to the proposed project on the runoff characteristics (quantitative as well as qualitative) of the area in the post construction phase on a long-term basis? Would it aggravate the problems of flooding or water logging in any way?

The project will have provision for rainwater harvesting system. No storm water will be disposed in nearby drains in operation phase of the project. Detailed hydrogeological study will be carried out.

Precaution to avoid water logging on site:

Storm water drain shall be cleaned at regular interval.

Minimizing the incremental runoff from the site with the help of rain water harvesting pits to

recharge the ground water level.

Proper management of channelization of storm water from site by using proper internal SWD

system and discharge points of adequate capacity

Use of screens and silt traps to SWD

Proper maintenance of storm water drainage to avoid choking of drains and flooding on site

Ensure discharge of storm water from the site is clear of sediment and pollution.

2.9 What are the impacts of the proposal on the ground water? (Will there be tapping of ground water; give the details of ground water table, recharging capacity, and approvals obtained from competent authority, if any)

Any withdrawal of ground water from aquifers creates empty space, which is refilled during wet season in natural ecological setup. Such spaces can be utilized to fill up through artificial recharge system to

replenish ground water resources. The proponent will provide artificial recharge wells at the site and thus the ground water consumed would be simultaneously replenished resulting in no negative impact on this parameter. Detailed hydrogeological study will be carried out to assess the impact of the proposal on ground water.

2.10 What precautions/measures are taken to prevent the run-off from construction activities polluting land & aquifers? (Give details of quantities and the measures taken to avoid the adverse impacts).

The runoff from construction activities will be recycled after treatment. No runoff will be disposed outside the project boundary. Strom water drains will be provided along with the internal roads over the site to meet the expected increase in the runoff during the rainy season due to the impervious nature of the roof, roads and other paved areas. In addition, all roof water will be collected and discharged into specially designed rainwater harvesting facilities.

Considering all roof tops rain water will be collected and diverted to rainwater harvesting facilities, and the rest of the rainwater as contributing to runoff on the site and assuming a coefficient of runoff of 0.675 and maximum rainfall intensity of 50 mm/hr. The storm drain will be discharged to drain which is Near to site at natural slope drain in south direction.

2.11 How is the storm water from within the site managed? (State the provisions made to avoid flooding of the area, details of the drainage facilities provided along with a site layout indication contour levels).

The site will have a well designed storm water drainage system which will prevent any flooding.

Roof drain pipes will be designed considering maximum intensity of rainfall.

Rain water harvesting is proposed, in order to conserve water.

Rain water will be collected by down take pipes, proper site grading, storm water drainage channels, catch basins / pits and piped drainage system, as appropriate.

2.12 Will the deployment of construction labourers particularly in the peak period lead to unsanitary conditions around the project site (Justify with proper explanation)

All the sewage generated will gravitate through Bar Screen. The Bar screen will take care of any floatable matter, which will be manually scraped out and collected in drums. Bar screen will comprise of SS plate type screen for removing floatable matter. From the bar screen it will then pass on to the Oil & Grease Trap for removal of free floating oil. The oil will be scrapped and collected in drums to be disposed as per statutory norms. The sewage will be collected in raw collection tank. Uniform mixing is achieved by providing aeration grid (air sparing) in the collection tank. After completion of mixing, the sewage will be pumped at a uniform rate by sewage transfer pumps to Biological Treatment. Biological Treatment (Secondary Treatment): This will include the following;

The process will be of activated sludge extended aeration biological process of Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) type.

The MBBR process will be an aerobic system having two biological growth process- attached growth and suspended growth. The pretreated sewage from raw sewage collection tank will be pumped into MBBR where support media will provide more surface area for Biological growth. Oxygen will be added for biological growth through tubular diffusers.

The effluent will be uniformly pumped to MBBR Reactor to biologically degrade the organic matter. The oxygen required for the bacterial growth will be supplied through Diffuser systems. The system envisages better oxygen transfer because of fine bubbles and increased contact with the sewage.

The overflow from MBBR Reactor will gravitate to the Secondary clarifier. The arrested sludge will be pumped back to the Aeration tank to maintain the bacterial concentration in the tank and excess sludge will be sent to the Sludge collection pit and shall be dewatered using a Filter press. The filtrate will be taken to the Raw Sewage Collection Tank. The dried sludge can be used as manure.

Tertiary Treatment:

The treatment will include the following unit / equipment;

Activated Carbon Filter (ACF)

Ozonation System

The clear supernatant from the Secondary clarifier will be collected in a Filter feed tank this tank will be provided with level switch for unmanned operations. The treated sewage will be pumped to PSF followed by ACF. After ACF treated sewage will be passed through Ozonation System for disinfection. After Ozonation treated sewage will be collected in Treated Water Tank. Treated sewage from Treated Water Tank can be used for secondary requirement

The treated wastewater will be used for horticulture & flushing. Hence dual plumbing system will be adopted.

3. VEGETATION

3.1 Is there any threat of the project to the biodiversity? (Give a description of the local ecosystem with its unique features, if any)

There is no threat to local biodiversity. Some shrubs are needed to be cleared. Further, there are no forests, National parks and Sanctuaries located in the study area.

3.2 Will the construction involve extensive clearing or modification of vegetation? (Provide a detailed account of the trees & vegetation affected by the project)

The project site is a piece of vacant land having very sparse vegetative cover. Further, the plant species around the site are local tree species and no rare or endangered tree species are found in the site hence unlikely to be affected. Some shrubs are needed to be cleared. Any loss of vegetation in the project site will be compensated through plantation and landscaping.

3.3 What are the measures proposed to be taken to minimize the likely impacts on important site features (Give details of proposal for tree plantation, landscaping, creation of water bodies etc along with a layout plan to an appropriate scale)

Any loss in vegetation will be compensated by plantation of trees adopting the following measures. The landscape of project site has been planned to provide a clean, healthy and beautiful green environment for the people. Within the proposed project site, landscape/ green areas will be developed to achieve a blend between modern building and various species of plants to create a clean, healthy and aesthetic environment that provides a visual treat and relaxation to the occupants of these buildings. Within these green areas walking tracks, fountains, etc. will be developed all through the building.

A combination of evergreen and ornamental flowering trees, palms, shrubs and ground covers will be planted along the roadsides and in open spaces within the project complex. The planting arrangement should be based on optimal use of available land and quantum of irrigation water and treated wastewater. It is recommended that tree plantation (large size species) should be undertaken at the time of preparation of the site so that they would grow to considerable size by the time of commissioning of the proposed project. The landscape plan is shown in the project site layout plan given as below and the list of plant species suggested for plantation in the proposed project is presented as below.

4. FAUNA

4.1 Is there likely to be any displacement of fauna-both terrestrial and aquatic or creation of barriers for their movement? Provide the details.

The proposed site is an open land and devoid of forestation or aquatic body, so in existing conditions, this place is not the habitat for local fauna, hence there will not be any type of displacement or effect on the local fauna due to proposed project activities.

4.2 Any direct or indirect impacts on the avifauna of the area? Provide details.

Within the proposed project site, green areas will be developed to achieve a blend between modern and various species of plants to create a clean, healthy and aesthetic environment. Common native variety of trees and ornamental flowering species will be planted in the green space. Landscaping can have direct positive impact on the local avifauna as this will provide shelter to local birds.

4.3 Prescribe measures such as corridors, fish ladders etc. to mitigate adverse impacts on fauna

These measures are not applicable for the proposed project.

5. AIR ENVIRONMENT

5.1 Will the project increase atmospheric concentration of gases & result in heat islands? (Give details of background air quality levels with predicted values based on dispersion models taking into account the increased traffic generation as a result of the proposed constructions)

Baseline data will be generated as per EIA Notification and maximum predicted GLC will be calculated. 5.2 What are the impacts on generation of dust, smoke, odorous fumes or other hazardous gases? Give details in relation to all the meteorological parameters. No such impacts are envisaged such as smoke, odour or hazards gases and will not be generated from this project

5.3 Will the proposal create shortage of parking space for vehicles? Furnish details of the present level of transport infrastructure and measures proposed for improvement including the traffic management at the entry & exit to the project site.

A traffic survey report along with parking details will be furnished in EIA Report

The Project area is well connected to the developed road. The increase in traffic due to the project is

marginal compared to the existing high volume of traffic in the area, and therefore the impact will be

marginal. Internal roads will be provided within the building.

5.4 Provide details of the movement patterns with internal roads, bicycle tracks, pedestrian pathways, footpaths etc., with areas under each category.

The proposed project development will have access through the proposed 6.5, 6.0 m & 3.5 m Wide

pathways internally.

5.5 Will there be significant increase in traffic noise & vibrations? Give details of the sources and the measures proposed for mitigation of the above.

There will be marginal increase in traffic on the adjacent road that will have marginal increase.

DG sets are proposed to supply power as the emergency supply system in case of power shut down. The DG sets will be housed in noise insulated enclosures designed to meet standards as laid under Environment (Protection) Act. Noise and vibrations from DG sets will be eliminated with acoustic enclosure.

6. AESTHETICS

6.1 Will the proposed constructions in any way result in the obstruction of a view, scenic amenity

or landscapes? Are these considerations taken into account by the proponents?

The architecture of the project matches with the surroundings. The approval of the architectural plan of the will be taken from local authority.

6.2 Will there be any adverse impacts from new constructions on the existing structures? What are

the considerations taken into account?

This will be new construction and will not have any adverse impact on the existing structures in the vicinity of the project site.

6.3 Whether there are any local considerations of urban form & urban design influencing the

design criteria? They may be explicitly spelt out.

The proposed site falls under the area of development plan of Local authority.

The Residential and commercial building will be constructed within the designated site as per the building by-laws. The approval of the design of the building obtained from local authority.

6.4 Are there any anthropological or archaeological sites or art facts nearby? State if any other

significant features in the vicinity of the proposed site have been considered.

There is no archeological site nearby the project site.

7. SOCIO-ECONOMIC ASPECTS

7.1 Will the proposal result in any changes to the demographic structure of local population? Provide the details.

The operation of the project will provide value addition to the existing infrastructure, as due to development

of the project, the commercial facilities such as public transport, water supply, telecommunications, power

lines, road maintenance etc. will be upgraded. The operation of project and other allied facilities will provide

direct and indirect employment opportunities for a large section of society. The employment will have

positive impact thereby increasing the quality of life.

The project site being located within the limits of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, all sorts of social

infrastructure like transportation facilities, water supply & sanitation facilities, communication facilities,

educational institutions, hospitals, markets, banks, cultural amenities etc. already exist around the project

area.

7.3 Will the project cause adverse effects on local communities, disturbance to sacred sites or

other cultural values? What are the safeguards proposed?

The project will be constructed as per the defined building by-laws of local authority. The project activities

will be confined within the premises and no adverse impacts are envisaged.

8. BUILDING MATERIALS

8.1 May involve the use of building materials with high-embodied energy. Are the construction

materials produced with energy efficient processes? (Give details of energy conservation

measures in the selection of building materials and their energy efficiency)

Conventional construction material will be used. The major materials required for construction of the

proposed project will be steel, cement, fly ash, bricks, metal, flooring tiles/stones, sanitary and hardware

items, electrical fittings, water, etc.

The project is designed to be energy efficient and special care has been taken in the planning stage to

ensure an efficient system. The salient features of energy conservation are :

Solar water heaters.

Solar Lighting in utility space, internal roads

LED will be used in common area.

8.2 Transport and handling of materials during construction may result in pollution, noise & public

nuisance. What measures are taken to minimize the impacts?

Mitigation Measures for Air Pollution during Construction Stage

Air quality around the project site will be adversely impacted during construction stage. Various

construction activities especially related to handling of loose material are likely to generate fugitive dust

that will affect the air quality of the surrounding area of the project site. To minimize such impacts following

measures has been proposed:

Ready Mix concrete will be used.

All construction material will be covered by tarpaulin during transportation and will be kept at covered

storage yard.

Water sprinkling will be done for dust suppression.

To minimize the occupational health hazard, proper personal protective gears i.e. mask will be provided to

the workers who are engaged in dust generation activity

Mitigation Measures for Noise Pollutionduring Construction Stage

During construction stage, expected noise levels will be in the range of (80-85dBA), which will decrease

with increase in distance. Administrative as well as engineering control of noise will be implemented.

Isolation of noise generation sources and temporal differentiation of noise generating activities will ensure

minimum noise at receiver’s end.

All the construction activities will be carried out during the daytime. To prevent any occupational health

hazard, ear-muff / ear plug will be given to the workers working around or operating plant and machinery

emitting high noise levels. Use of such plant or machinery will be strictly prohibited during night. Careful

planning of machinery operation and scheduling of operations will be done to minimise such impact.

8.3 Are recycled materials used in roads and structures? State the extent of savings achieved?

The possibility of using recycled material such as fly ash has been proposed in construction of this project.

If the recyclable material is readily available and if it is economically feasible it will be used for the

construction of roads and structures. Waste from construction like excavated earth, iron rods etc shall be

handed over to the authorized vendor for recycling.

8.4 Give details of the methods of collection, segregation & disposal of the garbage generated

during the operation phases of the project.

The details of solid wastes collection recycle and disposal is given in the Table below.

10. Environment Management Plan

The Environment Management Plan would consist of all mitigation measures for each item wise activity to

be undertaken during the construction, operation and the entire life cycle to minimize adverse

environmental impacts as a result of the activities of the project. It would also delineate the environmental

monitoring plan for compliance of various environmental regulations. It will state the steps to be taken in

case of emergency such as accidents at the site including fire.

A detailed Environment Management plan along with Environment Management cost will be furnished in EIA Report.
