Children First• School Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to
3:20. The tardy bell rings at 8:05. • If your child comes at 7:50, he or she
will be able to come to the room and get the day started!
• Please try to get your child here before the tardy bell.
• Please sign in at the front office and get a visitor/volunteer nametag.
Lunch and Snack• Lunch is at 11:55. Feel free to bring lunch to
your child, but per district policy only for your child.
• When you come to eat with your child during lunch, there is now a visitor’s table for you and your child to sit.
• Fast foods can be brought for your child during lunch.
• Please send a nutritional snack and water bottle with a sports top.
• No Peanuts Please!
Activity Fee• The Activity fee is $18.00 and
covers “National Geographic Magazine”, Science Lab materials, Corroboree, Arts and Crafts, two parties, and consumable materials.
• We will contact you about field trip fees at the appropriate time.
Dress Code• Students should wear tennis shoes
(no flip flops) and appropriate clothes for P.E. and recess.
Birthday Treats• Birthday treats can be passed out at the end
of the day as long as they are non-edible.• Since we follow the Foods of Nutritional Value
Policy, cupcakes and cookies cannot be brought for treats.
• Frozen yogurt tickets may be purchased through the cafeteria for a class because it falls under FNVP.
• Birthday party invitations cannot be passed out at school.
Support Our School!• Please support our school by :
– Joining PTA– Buying from our Innisbrook
Fundraiser– Using Kroger, Randalls, and Target
share cards.– Bringing box tops from General Mills.
Collaboration• Face to face parents conferences are on the
early release dates of October 27th, 28th, and the 29th.

Study Skills• Study skills are filled out daily• They show topics covered that
day, homework for that night, and any conduct problems.
• Please review the study skills sheet nightly with your child and sign it.
Woody Wrap-up• The “Woody Wrap-up” is the
weekly Woodland Hills Newsletter.• Important information will also be
sent via e-mail.
Curriculum• TAKS Reading will be on April 27th.• TAKS Math will be on April 26th.• District Benchmark Assessments
will be given throughout the year in science, math, writing, and reading.
Tutoring• Tutoring will be available in math
and reading for those students who may be having problems when the need arises.
Word Study• The children will use Word Study
practices to work on their words. • New words will be introduced on
Monday and then tested on Friday.
Reading• Reading will involved Reader’s
Workshop– Whole group reading lessons– Structured independent reading– Teacher guided group lesson
Reading Counts and RIOT
• Reading Counts is a required part of 3rd grade.
• RIOT (Reading Instead of Television) Calendars will come home monthly to keep track of at home reading. If all calendars are returned, the child will earn a trophy at the end of the year.
Writers Workshop• Writers Workshop will occur daily
– Whole group writing lesson– Independent writing time– Share time to celebrate their work
Progress Reports• Progress reports will go home at the 4
week mark.• Every child will get a progress report
covering the first 4 weeks of school.• Only children with unsatisfactory
progress will get progress reports for other reporting periods.
• Report cards will go home every 9 weeks. The first goes out on October 29th.
