Create a Home Learning Environment

The learning environment that you provide in your home can have a powerful impact on how your child learns. Here are tips to help you prepare a special place for online learning.

• Provide a table and chair similar to the classroom. Children will be more attentive if they are sitting and facing the screen.

• Make sure that your child has the materials that he or she will need. The teacher will provide a list of simple supplies ahead of time.

• Avoid toys, pets and other distractions.

• Headsets can be useful to block out distracting noises and help children focus.

• Some children will need a “fidget fixer” to help calm them and give them something to do with their hands. A knotted sock, pipe cleaner, or spring clothespin are examples of objects that might relax children.

Crea un Ambiente de Aprendizaje en Casa

El ambiente de aprendizaje que provees en tu casa tiene un impacto en cómo tu hijo/a aprende. Aquí tenemos algunas recomendaciones para ayudarlos a preparar un lugar especial para el aprendizaje en línea.

Each child will be receiving an ELA/Math tool kit ● We have used our own money and time to put these together during summer

because we strongly believe it’s important for our Kinder students to have hands-on materials during distance learning, just like we would in the classroom.

● We believe our youngest learners still deserve this developmentally appropriate practice even during virtual learning.

● We are so excited to get these materials into the students hands! Thank you for your support!

When we are back in the classroom face-to-face we will need the students to bring the kits with them. They will

already be familiar with their materials and they will also have

their own set of materials to reduce the chance of transferring germs.

We will be using the kits on a regular basis

We have included an inventory of what is in the kit to make it easier

to keep track of the materials. Please remember, these are learning tools and not toys.

Cada estudiante recibirá un kit de herramientas para Artes de Lenguaje y Matemáticas

● Hemos usado nuestro propio dinero y tiempo para armar estos kits durante el verano por que creemos que es importante que nuestro estudiantes tengan herramientas didácticas durante el aprendizaje a distancia como lo tendríamos en el salon.

● Creemos que nuestros pequeños aprendices se merecen la práctica y desarrollo apropiada incluso durante el aprendizaje a distancia.

● ¡Estamos muy emocionadas de hacer llegar estos materiales a las manos de nuestros

estudiantes! Muchas gracias por su apoyo :)

Cuando estemos de vuelta en clases presenciales necesitaremos que los

estudiantes traigan los kits con ellos. Ya estarán familiarizados con los materiales y además tendrán su

propio kit para reducir la transferencia de gérmenes.

I’m so excited to be your Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher and can’t wait to meet you either virtually or in person! I graduated

UTSA in 2016 and have been teaching at Henderson ever since. My husband and I have a Frenchie named Stitch; and he is the baby of

the house. We love travelling and exploring new places, Stitchie even joins on roadtrips. I grew

My name is Christina Cantu. I graduated from UTSA in Early Childhood Education and I am currently getting my Master’s in School Counseling from UTSA. This will be my 19th year teaching. I have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade. I am married with 3 boys, Matthew (10th grade), Michael (9th grade), and Zachary (6th grade). They keep me busy! HELLO!!!! My name is Claudia Miller. Welcome to Kindergarten at Henderson Elementary. I am so excited to start this new year. Although things are going to be a little different, I am looking forward to seeing all kindergarten students grow and learn. A Little About Me: I graduated from the University of San Antonio with a specialization in Early Childhood. I truly love the little ones. I have been teaching kindergarten and first grade for 21 years and I couldn’t think of a more rewarding career. I opened Henderson Elementary 10 years ago and I just love our families and community.
