21st Century Technology The reason for technology standards:     Technology enables students to solve real world problems, enhance life, and extend human capability as they meet the challenges of a dynamic global society.    An important standard to note, which I will be using multiple times this year, is..8.1 Educational Technology C. Communication and Collaboration The Content Statement: Digital tools and environments support the learning process and foster collaboration in solving local or global issues and problems. The Cumulative Progress Indicator:  Develop an innovative solution to a complex, local or global problem or issue in collaboration with peers and experts, and present ideas for feedback in an online community.

21st Century Technology Continued

I believe that technology in the class room should be embraced as often as possible as a additional tool for myself and the students therefore we will use.... •  Blogs•  Internet Databases•  Website which allows me to post homework for

students and parents to view at all times• Communication board for students to communicate

with each other about projects, homework, etc.•  Microsoft power point, excel, and word

 * All of which can be used provided in the school library if a computer/internet is not available at home

Required Blogging

Every week I will post a question, article, idea, or event on the homework assignment web-page. Students will be expected to blog their responses and comment on their peers blogs as well.  Example of a topic would be:•   What if Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated?

How do you think, based on what we have learned,  he would have handled reconstruction of the south?

OR • Giving them a current event article and have them

relate it to what we are currently learning in class.
