Smart Board with Projector

The Smart Board will allow teachers and students to interact with projected images from the computer. One way it could be used is to fill out a worksheet as a class that has been made in Microsoft Word with drop down options. The smart board can also be used to project visuals that will aid the classes understanding.

White Board

The White Board is placed at the front of the room. This is where the teacher will write notes while teaching a lesson. It can also be used by both the teacher and the student to work out examples and further understanding of a topic.

The media center hosts 5 computers and a printer that are available for student use. These computers will mostly be used during activity rotations so that all students will get a chance to use them. Programs such as Kidspiration and educational websites will be used to supplement classroom learning.

Student Tables

Each student tables has chairs to accommodate 4 students and are handicap accessible. The way in which the tables are arranged allow for all students to easily see the board. This type of seating allows for easy group work, but minimizes distraction since students are not looking at one another.

Teacher Desk

The teacher’s desk is placed in a place that is easy for the students to get to. It is also easy for the teacher to see all students while they are at their desks. The teacher’s desk also features a computer for teacher use.

Math Center

The math center allows for hands on math activities. Supplies at this center include counting blocks, calculators, balances, pencils, and paper.

Seasonal Activities

This shelf, connected with the table shared with the math center, will host seasonal activities. For example, in the fall different types of leaves along with information about them and their trees will be found here. In the winter different holiday traditions will be on display along with information about hibernation and migration.

Reading Center

The reading center features a rug, 5 bean bag chairs, 2 bookshelves filled with books and cd players with headphones for audio books. Bean bag chairs allow a comfortable location for students to grab a book and read either during activity centers or once they have finished their work. The rug can also be used for a class story or other activities.

Art Center

The art center features multiple craft supplies including paper, crayons, glue, scissors, and paint. The art center will be used in activity center rotations to encourage creativity and work on projects. When a mess is made, the convince of a sink, trash barrel, and recycling bin will make clean up easy and teach students responsibility.

Closets

Three of the closets will be used by students to hold their coats, backpacks, and lunch boxes. One closet will be used by the teacher for supplies.

Mailboxes

Mailboxes will be labeled with each student’s name. These will be used to return assignments and to send home notices. It is an easy way to keep both students and the teacher organized.
