• Released May 2013 the Resource: – Identifies & describes the professional expectations of
current & future supervisors
– Provides a baseline for uniform quality & the potential to develop clinical supervision for the Australian Health system further
– Contributes to interprofessional learning, teamwork and interprofessional understanding through the identification of core competencies for clinical supervision across all health disciplines

Clinical supervision – Prepare and planDevelop positive and effective relationships with the student, staff, managers, clinical teams and university/ education provider staff
Develop a learning plan with the student that is manageable, realistic and appropriate for my clinical setting
Identify and clearly articulate to the student the boundaries of our respective roles and relationship
Validation pilot – workshop delivery
• Allocation of one day workshop conducted by providers on the HWA multi use list (MUL)
• Delivered at foundation and intermediate level
• Post workshop participants completed the 2nd SAT
• Returned to clinical environment to supervise students and complete 3rd SAT 4 weeks later

provider disciplines
• Establish consistent and transparent approach to the provision of quality clinical supervision
• Provide a benchmark against which organisations can assess investments in clinical supervision training
• Provide a benchmark for clinical supervision performance
• Provide the basis for the development of self assessment tools to enable supervisors to identify training needs and to confirm and/or further develop competency

Links to BPCLE• The BPCLE Framework was developed in Victoria as a
guide for health services, in partnership with education providers, to coordinate and deliver high-quality clinical placements for health learners
• The BPCLE Framework ensures the creation and maintenance of positive education cultures and assist organisations to improve the student experience through strategies and mechanisms that monitor the quality of the clinical education environment
