MS Announcements: Wednesday, Jan. 23 rd Middle School 1. There will be a Middle School Yearbook Staff meeting today - Wednesday after school for those that need to finish their pages. 2. Congratulations to West Liberty-Salem’s Middle School Science Olympiad team for a great performance at the Magsig Invitational tournament in Centerville. Our school won a 6th place team trophy as eleven different team members won awards in seven events including gold medals in the event Boomilever and silver medals in the event Rock & Minerals. Next up is the Solon Invitational tournament in Cleveland on February 2nd. 3. Attention 8 th graders - Are you an 8 th grader who wants to take college classes on a college campus next year as a ninth grader? If so, this announcement is for you. On Monday, February, 4 from 6:30-8:00 pm, the HS Guidance Office will be sponsoring its annual Post Secondary Education Options Program Mandatory Counseling Meeting in the WL-S Media Center. This is a required information/counseling session for students entering grades 9-12 for the 2013-2014 school year who wish to leave the WLS campus to take college courses while in high school. Please stop in the HS Guidance Office if you have any questions. This meeting is only required for those eighth graders and parents who are interested in taking college courses on a college campus during ninth grade. 4. The Middle School Talent Show will be next Wednesday, January 30 th at 1:45pm. If you have any questions about the talent show, see Mrs. Catlin. 5. The 6th grade will be selling smencils (scented pencils) ands smens (scented pens) next week Tuesday through Thursday and also the following week. Sales will take place during lunch and before school. Money will be used for Camp Kirkmont. Smencils and smens are made from recycled newspapers. Smencils will be sold for $1 and smens for $2. Athletics 1. The 7th Grade Boys improved to (10-1) with a 47-42 OT win over Greeneview. Neil Markin led the scoring with 11pts, while Braden Miller added 10pts and James Loffing chipped in 9pts. 2. The 8th Grade Boys (9-2)suffered their second defeat of the season 43-33 to Greeneview. Luke Woods led scoring with 15pts, while Brandon Wolfe and Jerret Smith each added 6pts. 3. The 7th grade Lady Tigers avenged an earlier loss this season, defeating Greeneview 34-11. For the Tigers, Jonni Parker had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Tory Cordell chipped in 8 points and 4 rebounds, and Taylor Lauck and Aubrie Stillings had 6 points a piece. Lauck came up with 3 steals and Stillings grabbed 2 steals and 2 assists as well. Laine Godwin sparked the offense with 3 assists and 4

Ashley Rabenstein had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Kiana Reames had 6 points and 8 rebounds. The 8th grade Lady Tigers are now 13-1 overall and 12-1 OHC.
