Ross has annotated most of these letters, identifying the writer and often giving asynopsis of the letter's contents. Earlier letters from many of these correspondents arealready in the Papers. Many of these letters were written in sympathy after the death ofMalcolm Ross's wife, Lois, in 1995. Others refer to his decision to enter the RomanCatholic church in 1996.
