Letter A was lots of fun to start the letter
journey with! The children loved singing and dancing
to Apple Annie and learning all about apples.
On Thursday, we rewarded all the children with
a prize from the prize box. This week we will give
bananas for following the rules. Once a child has
earned 5 bananas, he or she will earn another prize.
The original idea of 10 bananas was too many— the
class behaves wonderfully so far!
This week we will learn about letter R— the
song is not as catchy as Apple Annie! We will tie in
the story of Joseph’s Colorful Coat by talking about
the rainbow of colors.
On Thursday, we will accomplish two things:
first, introducing the Kindness Curriculum by
teaching the children about their Golden Hearts.
Every time they help others, their heart will be-
come shinier and shinier. Each month we will do a
service project related to a story to reinforce the
Kindness Curriculum. The second accomplishment is
our initial assessment of the skills and knowledge
the children currently possess. This will help me
learn what areas I need to concentrate on with
each child. You will receive a copy by October 1st.
