Lets count to 50 again but we will start with a number other than 1. Slide 6 Lets start with the number 25. What number comes after the number 25? Slide 7 Lets find 25 on the number chart. What comes after 25? Slide 8 That is right! 26 Slide 9 Lets begin- 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30. Slide 10 How many cats do I have? Slide 11 That is right. I have 12 cats. Slide 12 Now you make 12 of something on your paper. I used cats. What can you make 12 of on your paper? Slide 13 Good Job!! Slide 14 Lesson Slide 15 In our last lesson we added groups of objects. When we added the objects together we made more objects. Slide 16 We use the addition symbol to let us know we were adding the objects. Slide 17 Sometimes words can let us know we are adding. Slide 18 Lets try a word problem. John has 2 dogs. Bob has 1 dog. How many dogs do they have altogether ? Slide 19 First we can draw 2 dogs for John and 1 dog for Bob. Then we count all the dogs together to find our answer. 1 2 3 Slide 20 There are 3 dogs altogether. 1 2 3 2 += 1 3 Slide 21 Tom ate 3 slices of pizza. His friend Jerry ate 4 slices of pizza. How many slices did the boys eat altogether ? TomJerry Slide 22 If we count all the pizza slices Tom and Jerry had we can find the total number of pizza slices the boys ate. TomJerry 1 2 3 7 6 5 4 Slide 23 The boys ate 7 pizza slices altogether. TomJerry 1 2 3 7 6 5 4 3 +4=7 Slide 24 At the restaurant we ordered 4 glasses of milk. After a while we ordered 2 more glasses of milk. How many glasses of milk did we order in all ? Slide 25 If we count all the glasses of milk we ordered we can find the total number of glasses of milk we ordered in all. 1 4 2 3 5 6 Slide 26 There are 6 glasses of milk in all. 1 4 2 35 6 4 + 2=6 Slide 27 We have 3 pencils. We buy 1 more pencil. How many pencils do we have now?
