Review Spelling ListWeek of September 10, 2012

Parents,

First grade will begin spelling instruction on your child’s individual level beginning the week of September 17th, however there are some basics we need to teach the students prior to beginning the actual Words Their Way curriculum. Word

sorts, reading activities, and word building are just a few of the activities that will be taught this week. Furthermore, all students will have a spelling consumable workbook on their spelling level with additional activities to encourage spelling knowledge and growth. Due to the fact that there are so many new activities which need to be taught prior to beginning the actual curriculum, we have come up with a simple practice list of words to teach these activities for all 1st grade students. The words are simple, but the focus will be on teaching sorting and other activities using these words. We will have a spelling test on Friday as a review of these words.

We are off to a great year and appreciate all of your support!
