The success of patient care and the reputation of an institute depend upon the efficiency of care being provided by the nursing personnel. We should serve not only with love, but also with hu- mility. When troubles knock at the door of your life, lift it up with your tears of faith and hope. Open your eyes and your mind to see the different roles of a nurse and give holistic care to pa- tients and their families independently and through collaboration with other health care profes- sionals. You are the next generation of nursing excellence. The examinations are near for the GNM students. Your mind and body may be tired of your hard work but do continue to pursue and put on your best efforts. Always remember that the quality of nurs- ing care provided by a nurse depends on her scientific knowledge and skills. On 5 th December 2015, a modular training was organized for faculty members. On 8 th December 2015, 9 th December 2015, 13 th January 2016, 23 rd January 2016, different sessions were arranged for students of B.Sc. (Hons.)Nursing and GNM programmes. On 27 th January 2016, a mock- drill was conducted in which the entire College of Nursing staff and stu- dents participated. The second round of mockdrill was carried out on 4 th June 2016. “Disaster gave us two things- a moment to react and a decision to overcome” Anugoonj 2016, the annual cultural meet organ- ized by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha Univer- sity was held in CPJ Law College, Narela, Delhi on the 1 st and 2 nd of February 2016. The students of our college participated with full zeal in vari- ous events like skit, group song, English poetry, cartoon making, creative writing and folk dance. ized an emergency preparedness pro-

gramme for staff and students of

College of Nursing. Various sessions

were held for students and faculty.

Dr. Joyce Vaghela, Deputy Director

and Chairperson of Emergency Pre-

paredness committee, faculty mem-

bers along with the committee mem-

bers organized all the workshops.

On 5th December 2015, a modular training was organized for faculty

members. On 8th December 2015, 9th December 2015, 13th January 2016,

23rd January 2016, different sessions were arranged for students of B.Sc.

(Hons.)Nursing and GNM programmes. On 27th January 2016, a mock-

drill was conducted in which the entire College of Nursing staff and stu-

dents participated. The second round of mockdrill was carried out on 4th

June 2016.

Anugoonj 2016, the annual cultural meet organ-

ized by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha Univer-

sity was held in CPJ Law College, Narela, Delhi

on the 1st and 2nd of February 2016. The students

of our college participated with full zeal in vari-

ous events like skit, group song, English poetry,

cartoon making, creative writing and folk dance.

It was a great opportunity for the students to

showcase their talent and excel in extra-curricular

GNM Farewell 2016 was held on 28th March. The

Chief Guest for the occasion was our honorable

Director Dr. Sudhir C. Joseph. The event was at-

tended by the Principal, faculty and students. It

was a fun filled event with various cultural pro-

grammes and a nostalgic documentary depicting

the journey of the outgoing students in this es-

teemed Institution. Ms. Prianca Stephen was

crowned Miss Personality 2016.

On 17th February 2016, St. Stephen’s Hospital organ-

ized the Lamplighting ceremony for the batch of 2015

and Graduation ceremony of B.Sc.(Hons.)Nursing

batch of 2011 and GNM batch of 2012. the Chief

Guest for the event was Mrs. SnehLata Manocha, Reg-

istrar, Delhi Nursing Council. The event took place at

the administrative lawn of St. Stephen’s Hospital. The

programme started with invocation by the Hospital

Chamber Choir that was followed by prayer by Pastor

Bendang Lemtor. Dr. Sudhir C. Joseph, Director wel-

comed the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering.

After the traditional lamp lighting ceremony Mrs.

Mary Sarma, Principal, College of Nursing presented

the annual report. This was followed by the lighting of

lamp by the first year GNM and B.Sc.(Hons.)Nursing

students. The light was passed by Mrs. Shoba George,

Asst. Professor, College of Nursing and Mrs. Neena

Rambert, Sister Incharge, St. Stephen’s Hospital

Healthcare Facility, Gurgaon. The students took the

Nurses’ pledge that was led by Prof. Dr. A.T. Kora,

Nursing Superintendent. The next event was distri-

bution of degrees and diploma certificates by our

Chief Guest Mrs. SnehLata Manocha. She also

shared her words of wisdom and congratulated the

graduates and motivated the first year nursing stu-

dents. The meritorious students were presented

awards and certificates by our director, Dr. Sudhir

C. Joseph. Ms. Vandana Bhandari of B.Sc.(Hons.)

Nursing and Ms. Nianghoikim of GNM bagged the

Best Outgoing Graduate Award. The students

shared their college experience and expressed their

gratitude through feedback. A momento was pre-

sented to the chief guest as a token of gratitude.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Feba

Geevarghese, Addl. Vice Principal College of

Nursing. She gave her best wishes to the students

for their future endeavours. The programme ended

with Hospital anthem followed by the National an-

them. After the event refreshments were served to

all.

The students of our College attended the World Kidney Day 2016

organized by AIIMS Hospital, Delhi on 11th March 2016. The

theme for this year was ‘Kidney Disease and Children: Act Early

To Prevent It.’ The theme was taken up to inform parents, care-

givers, young patients, policy makers and general public about

the importance of identifying and treating childhood kidney dis-

eases.

The students were introduced to global health awareness cam-

paign that focuses on the impact of kidney disease and its associ-

ated health problems worldwide . They also learnt about the

nursing management of clients with nephrotic disorder. It was a

worthwhile experience.

B.Sc.(Hons.)Nursing and GNM Ist year stu-

dents actively participated in the Nutrition

practical as part of their curriculum. The stu-

dents were divided into groups and were as-

signed to prepare diet with various methods

St. Stephen’s Hospital Patient Welfare Society organ-

ized an evening of Nostalgic Hindi film songs by

Kavita Murty Deshpande on 19th April 2016.

Various dignitaries were present and awards were pre-

sented to the ‘Best Employees’ of our hospital. The

event was attended by the nursing students, AHP stu-

dents and other staff members. It was a memorable

evening for everyone.

The farewell function of B.Sc.(Hons.)Nursing 4th year

was held on 23rd April 2016 in the Conference Hall.

The theme of the program was ‘Ciao’ which means

goodbye. Respected Director sir Dr. Sudhir C. Joseph

delivered his words of wisdom. The program was ac-

companied with various dance and singing numbers.

The highlight of the programme was Miss. Personality

of cooking. The students put in a lot of effort and hardwork. They showed

their culinary skills and prepared various types of diet. It was appreciated by

all.

contest that was won by Ms. Sonia Pathak. The programme ended with a short documentary which refreshed

the memories of the outgoing batch.

SNA organised a one-day workshop on Diabetes Mel-

litus for the students on the occasion of WHO Day on

4th April 2016. The theme for this year was “Halt the

Rise, Beat Diabetes”. The Chief Guest for the occa-

sion was Dr. Joyce Vaghela, Deputy Director, St.

Stephen’s Hospital. The resource persons for the

workshop were Dr. Rohit Mahajan, Senior Consult-

ant, Medicine, Miss Feba Geevarghese, Additional

The theme for the International Nurses day 2016 was

‘Nurses: A Force For Change: Improving Health Sys-

tems Resilience’. A poster competition was organised

by SNA in commemoration of International Nurses

Day that is celebrated every year on 12th May. The

theme of the Poster Competition was “Role of Nurses

in Different Areas”. Students participated in the com-

petition with full enthusiasm.

The Picnic for the outgoing batch of GNM and

B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing 4th year was organised on

27th January 2016 and 10th June 2016 respectively.

Ms. Manjeet Kaur married to Mr. Sarabjit Singh.

Faculty of College of Nursing organised two work-

shops-“Critical Care Nursing” on 16th June 2016 and

“Infertility” on 21st June 2016. Both workshops were

attended by members of the institute as well as from

other institutes and was well appreciated. Both the

workshops had eminent guest speakers besides our in-

house speakers from various departments of our insti-

tution.

CNE Classes are been conducted on various topic by

our faculty members on every alternate Saturday for

one hour.
