This week we will read books about weather and spring time. Also we will read more Patricia Polacco books. Word Work: *I can use Word Wall words correctly: ate, eight, knew, new, their, there, they’re, to, too, two *I Can recognize and define Vocabulary Words: we are working on homophones this week such as : tail, tale, plane, plain, sail, sale, whole, hole, there, they’re, their *I Can spell words with one or more silent consonants: flight, naughty, kneel, knew, crumb, thumb Math: *I Can tell how to add three- digit number. *I Can tell how to find the missing part of a number sentence with three-digit numbers. *I Can tell howto subtract with three-digit numbers. Writing : *I Can use correct punctuation and capital letters in my writing. *I Can write an opening and closing. *I Can tell the beginning, middle, and end of a narrative story. *I Can add interesting details to my writing. *I Can write three paragraphs. Social Studies/ Science/Health: *I can tell what income and trading are. *I Can tell about different kinds of weather. *I Can collect data and make a graph. *I Can tell the temperature and make predictions about the weather.

Parent Corner:Friday at 2:30 begins our Spring Break! Be sure to take time to refresh and be ready for the last six weeks of school. We will begin an Animal Research project after the break that will give us several grades (capitalization, punctuation, content, handwriting, research)

One year a student told me that she didn’t have to read at the end of the year because school was almost out....NOT TRUE!! Second graders should read 30+ minutes everyday to reach and maintain 90 words correct per minute!!
