Mrs Howe: Year 2 Summer
Learning Booklet
Hello to my soon-to-be new Year 2 class,
I hope that you are all fit and well and are looking forward to the Summer Holidays. To keep you
busy, I have created 4 challenges for you to complete. These are optional, though I would strongly
encourage you to give them a try as they will keep your brains ticking and also you will have great
fun completing these, either on your own or with you family.
I’m really looking forward to meeting you all in person in September; I’ve already planned lots of
exciting learning activities to kick start the school year. I literally cannot wait to start teaching in my
classroom again.
I hope that you all have a lovely summer and now that some of the Lockdown guidelines have been
relaxed slightly, you may be able to get out of the house more often and possibly see family and/or
friends. So goodbye for now and remember to stay active, stay happy and most importantly stay
safe.
Mrs Howe

Challenge 1: All about Me!
I’m really eager to get to know all of you better so this challenge is the perfect opportunity for you to
showcase your personalities, interests, likes and dislikes. If you choose to complete this challenge,
please bring back it to school in September, I would love to see your work!
Can you create a project which will tell me more about yourself?
Please answer these questions:
What is your name?
When were you born?
Where do you live?
Who lives in your house?
What do you look like?
What is your favourite colour?
What is your favourite activity/subject at school?
How would you describe your personality?
What is your favourite food?
What makes you special?
What interesting fact would you like to tell me about yourself?
You may present your project in any way that you like. You could:
Design a poster
Create a booklet or leaflet
Build a PowerPoint presentation
Film a video
Write a story
Design a fact file/Top Trumps Card.
On the next page are some examples.

Challenge 2: Become a Map Reader!
In September, in our Geography lessons, we will be learning about our locality. As part of this, we
will be using different maps, including those available online, to explore different locations and
landmarks up-close. I would like you to become familiar with, and explore, an online mapping
resource which we will be using in school in September.
