Mrs. C’s class pledge to be respectful, responsible, honest, and great problem solvers. We will

demonstrate level E and S behaviors and have a positive attitude. We will cheer each other on and

always try to exceed in all we do.

Students who have trouble following the school and classroom rules will take the following steps:Los estudiantes que tengan problemas siguiendo las reglas de la escuela han de seguir los siguientes pasos:

1.They will be moved to the take a break chair in the classroom and reflect.

Attendance and TardinessAsistencia y Puntualidad

• We can’t stress enough the importance of attending school each day.– Es muy importante que su hijo/a se presente a la escuela

• If students aren’t in the classroom by the time the bell rings, they must check in at the school office before coming to class.

and Spanish (rotate specials every 3 days)

Math• The Math Milestones

Test is taken in April.

• Topics for the first nine weeks are: number theory, whole number concepts, decimals, multiplication & division.

Reading • Reading is a gateway to

the GMAS Test.• Research shows that

children improve their reading skills by reading good literature often.

• Students are encouraged to read at least 20 minutes each night.

• Please indicate the amount of time your child reads during the week on their passport.

Lectura

• La lectura es clave para pasar las pruebas del GMAS.•Reportes investigativos muestran que los niños mejoran sus destrezas de lectura leyendo buena literatura con frecuencia.• Animamos a nuestros niños a que lean por lo menos 20 minutos cada noche.•Favor de indicar la cantidad de tiempo que su hijo lee cada semana en el pasaporte.

• We will use the Writer’s Workshop Model, and integrated instruction to help prepare students for the GMAS assessment.

• We will notify you of any late assignments on the student’s passport and call you if work habits do not meet expectations.

CogAT• Cognitive Abilities Test• The test is given to measure

the development of abstract reasoning abilities through verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal assessment. Teachers use CogAT scores to determine if students are achieving to their potential and to identify their areas of strength.

Fifth Grade Privileges At the end of the year the fifth graders have the opportunity to participate in a few special events. (Fifth Grade Picnic, Field day, and Awards Ceremony). In order for the students to be able to participate, they must meet the following requirements. Students who do not meet the requirements will not be able to attend these events. •Their CCRPI portfolio must be turned in to the counselors•They must have exhibited good behavior through out the school year.

• Any student with poor behavior will be put on a behavior contract in April in order to try to earn the privilege.

Al final del año los estudiantes de quinto grado tienen la oportunidad de participar en algunos eventos especiales. (Picnic de Quinto Grado , Días de Juego, y la ceremonia de entrega de premios). Para que los estudiantes sean capaces de participar, deben cumplir con los siguientes requisitos. Los estudiantes que no cumplan con los requisitos no podrán asistir a estos eventos.
