CourseDescription:IntermediateMath2focusesonthreecriticalareasofmath:(1)Formulatingandreasoningaboutexpressionsandequations,includingmodelinganassociationinbivariatedatawithlinearequation,andsolvinglinearequationsandsystemsoflinearequations;(2)graspingtheconceptofafunctionandusingfunctionstodescribequantitativerelationships;(3)analyzingtwo-andthree-dimensionalspaceandfiguresusingdistance,angle,similarity,andcongruence,andunderstandingandapplyingthePythagoreanTheorem.Thecoursematerialwillincludemoreindepthstudythantheregularclassandmayrequireadditionaloutsideworkeitherathomeorwiththeteacher.Homeworkandtestswillbemorechallenging,andadditionaltopicswillbecovered.Toremaininthehonorsmathclassyourson/daughtermustmaintainatleastaB-foreachendoftermgrade.If(s)hehasatermgradethatislessthanaB-(s)hewillbeputonprobation.IfthegradeforthefollowingtermisalsolessthanaB-then(s)hewillbetakenoutofthehonorsclassandplacedintheregularmathclass.Ifyourchildisnotpreparedfortherigorsofwhatwillbeexpectedinthisclass,thisplacementmaynotbeagoodfit.If,however,theylikemathandwouldbenefitfromtheaddedmaterial,thisisagreatopportunitythatwillprovideadditionalopportunitiesinthefuture.GradingPolicies:Homework(30%)Homeworkassignmentswillbegivenmostdaysandwillalwaysbedueatthebeginningofthefollowingclassperiod.COMPLETINGHOMEWORKISCRITICALFORSTUDENTSTOSUCCEEDINMYCLASS.NOINCOMPLETEHOMEWORKWILLBEACCEPTED.Allworkmustbecompletedwithatleast80%accuracytocountforcredit.Homeworkgradingscale:
