Compare and contrast the life of an indentured servant in the New Jersey colony to the life of an enslaved African. How were their lives the same? How were they different?

Both indentured servants and enslaved Africans worked for landowners. Both groups worked long, hard hours. Indentured servants signed and agreement to work for the landowners. They were given their freedom after a period of time. Enslaved Africans, however, had no such written agreement. They were forced into slavery and had no promise of freedom. They were treated as property.
