The Results

Monitor understands that if data is worth gathering then it is worth using.

From a small procurement cost to a large manpower deployment, the data is captured, analysed and contributes to give you the overall project picture.

Real time data capture allows the system to not only tell you what happened, but also tell you what is currently happening and, most importantly, what will happen in the future.

mpower allows you to plan and forecast based on the most accurate information available.

Terminology

A Programme represents a series of projects of similar type which you need to manage and control.

Almost all Programmes are unique in terms of their structure and their deliverables.

Programmes vary in size, complexity and timescale.

Programme

Page 21: Mpower 2012

Terminology

Programmes are broken down into distinct Projects .

For example, an operator may have a variety of projects to monitor and control at any given time for example:

P1 – New LNG FacilityP2 – Pipelines UpgradeP3 – Sub Sea Template InstallationP4 – Mooring Points Replacement

Terminology

Phases represent the second level in the progressive breakdown of the work scope associated with each Project.

Phases often represent the typical life cycle components of the Project from the Study Phase through to the Commissioning Phase.

Some companies call these the level ‘2’ activities as collectively they form the master schedule for the project.

Terminology

Activities represent the third level in the progressive breakdown of the work scope associated with each Phase.

Work execution schedules (plans) for the work are established at the Activity level.

The work scope associated with each Activity should be sufficiently detailed to allow adequate monitoring and control.

Engineering CTRs are created detailing all of the work required.

Man-hour and material estimates are built up using the company work norms.

Deliverables are defined for the CTRs.

Once completed they are transferred to Planning Activities for scheduling and execution.
