Raju Experts to speak on latest trends in aquaculture The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture (RGCA), the research and development wing of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), will organise the India Tilapia Summit2014 (ITS2014) here on December 18. The conference on Tilapia fish farming will be held at Gateway Hotel in the city. “ITS2014 will provide a platform to aquaculture scientists, farmers, tilapia experts, industry practitioners, stakeholders, processors, field staff and officials of MPEDA and other departments to harvest Genetically Improved Farm Tilapia (GIFT),” said MPEDA Deputy Director (Aquaculture) S. Kandan. “GIFT, considered as a common man’s fish, is a popular seafood commodity with good demand in the international market. The Ministry of Agriculture recently gave approval for responsible aquaculture of Tilapia in India,” Dr. Kandan added. International speakers RGCA Coordinator Jaideep Kumar said leading Tilapia scientists from across the globe will discuss the latest trends in modern aquaculture production systems and trading of Tilapia at the global level.
