Description 1-1

Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 Overview

MP-104/204 is a device that enables to multiplex 8 or 16 analog voice channels into one E1 main link.

The RADview-EMS/TDM MP-104/204 management application provides two main modes of operation - System Configuration and Port Configuration. The System Configuration is described in the System Configuration chapter, and the Port Configuration in the Port in Focus chapter.

1.2 Description

The MP-104 is shown in Figure 1-1. The front panel includes mainly the device name and LEDs. The back panel includes:

• Power outlet – connector to outside PS.

• Control ETH port – for NMS use

• Control port – for Terminal use

• LINK E1 port – the main link of the device (up-link)

• CH1 – CH8 ports – in groups of 4 ports. RJ-45 connectors of analog voice ports, with embedded LEDs.

Color Codes

Color of TS (1.. 31)

All TS Types refer to E1 LINK. Green - TS Type=Voice and TS is connectable. Gray - TS is not connected though TS is connectable. Blue - TS is not connected because TS is not connectable. White - TS Type=Mng and TS is connectable

Color of inside cells Gray - cells that are not connected (empty) but can be connected. Yellow - cells that are connected, except TS Type=Mng (containing a 'V' letter) and are connectable. Blue - non connectable cells that are not connected (empty)

Color of Port names Refer to E1 LINK, CH:

Gray - no one of the connectable TSs of the port is connected Yellow - part of the connectable TSs of the port are connected and all of them are valid (applicable for E1 LINK port only). Green - all connectable TSs of the port are connected and all of them are valid (this color is relevant only for the CHs, because E1 LINK will never be full in the MP-104/204 devices)

[Voice] Is enabled only when an empty Gray cell is selected. Pressing the button will cause the following:

• The existing connection of this TS will be canceled (if exists for the same column)

• The new connection will be created, with the Voice TS Type

The new state will be displayed (selected cell YELLOW, with a V letter matching the TS Type in it and the deleted one Gray, empty). The Row title cells' color will be updated according to the new state.

[Disconnect] The display will be updated to show a GRAY empty cell, for the deleted cell (for disconnecting the Yellow cell).

The respective Row title color will be updated accordingly.

[Reset All] See below

As soon as the user changes the above Mng TS selection (numerical value), the former CH connection to this TS will be deleted (if it existed) and the new one (Mng TS) will be displayed (Mng TS will overwrite the CH connection). The graphic display will be updated accordingly.
