Getting Started with MozyPro
MozyPro is an online backup service with an easy to use interface so you can start backing up your data today.
MozyPro uses client software that you install on your machine. The client software communicates with the backup servers located in secure sites around the globe.
To start backing up now, just install the MozyPro software. Your rst backup starts automatically. Here are a
few tasks to help get you started:

Downloading and Installing the MozyProSoftware
1. Enter http://mozy.com/downloads/mozyprosetup.dmg in your browser' address bar, then press Enter.
2. The installation le is automatically saved to the Download folder for your Web browser. Browse to the
folder and double-click the le (.DMG) to start the installation. The following table provides the default
location of commonly used Web browsers.
If your browser is not using the default download settings, you may be prompted to save the le. If prompted,
click Save and save the le to a location where you can easily nd it, such as your desktop.

3. Double-click the MozyPro Installer to continue the installation.
4. Click Continue to conrm the software can be installed.
5. Read the Welcome page, then click Continue.
The Welcome page provides access to additional resources to assist you during the installation and
conguration of MozyPro.
6. Read the Important Information page, then click Continue.
7. Read the License Agreement, click Continue, then click Agree.
8. Select the destination volume where you want to install MozyPro, then click Continue.
9. Verify the installation location is correct. If so, click Install.
10. The installer requires that you enter your Mac's administrator name and password. Enter the name and
password, then click OK .

MozyPro for Mac is installed to the root library folder of the System Preferences on the selected volume.
11. Click Close to exit the installation program and start the Setup Assistant.

The Setup Assistant will guide you through registering MozyPro, connecting to your online account, and
dening the type of encryption to be used when backing up your les.
MozyPro is now installed. The MozyPro status icon is located in the menu bar. Clicking the icon provides access
to the MozyPro Preferences window, as well as additional information on the status of your backups. For more
information, please see Backup Status Icons on page 7 and Understanding Your Backup Status on page 9.

Selecting Files and Folders to Back Up
The Files & Folders tab allows you to select or deselect any les or folders on your system to include in your
MozyPro backup. You can also create advanced rules to include or exclude les and folders.
1.Click the Mozy icon in the menu bar , then select Open MozyPro Preferences.
2. Click the Files & Folders tab.

3. Navigate to the le or folder you want to include in your backup and click .
When you select a folder, all its subfolders and les are included as well. Status icons show whether the le
or folder is selected for backup. For more information, see Backup Status Icons on page 7.
To exclude a certain le already marked for backup, select the le, then click .
4. Repeat step 3 until you have selected all the les you want to backup. You can also drag and drop les from
any Finder window.
Your changes are automatically saved.

Backup Status Icons
Using the Files & Folders tab, you can easily see which les have been selected for backup.
The green circle indicates the le or folder has been selected for back up. On a folder it means that
everything in the folder is selected for backup.
The yellow circle only appears on folders and it means that some, but not all, of the data in the folder
has been selected for back up.
The down arrow is displayed when you hover over a folder that is partially backed up and contains a
yellow circle. Clicking this circle allows you to back up all or none of the content in this folder, by
selecting Back up "folder name" or Don't back up "folder name".
The plus sign is displayed when you hover over a folder that contains no les selected for backup. Click
the button to add the entire contents of the folder to your backup. To expand the folder and view its
contents, click the folder name.
The minus sign is displayed on any folder with a green status icon. Clicking the minus sign will remove
the folder and all of its contents from your backup.
The "X" indicates the le or folder is excluded from backup by MozyPro.

Starting a Backup
Your backups are scheduled to start automatically, but you can start a backup at any time.
1.Click the MozyPro icon in the menu bar , then select Back Up Now.
2.To view the status of your backup, click the MozyPro icon in the menu bar .

Understanding Your Backup Status
After you start a backup, you can view the status in the MozyPro drop-down menu accessed from the menu bar.
This menu displays the status of your backup, including how many les have been backed up and the totalnumber of les on the system that are not yet backed up by MozyPro. If an error occurs during the backup or
restore, an error code is displayed with a link to more information.
1.To see the status of your backup, click the MozyPro icon in the menu bar .
The drop-down menu displays your status.

2. You can view or select the following options:
This menu item displays status information about your MozyPro account.MozyPro Account Information
This menu item displays a list of les that have been recently backed up. Selecting View
All Files opens the View and Restore Files window.
Backed Up
This menu item displays a list of les that are currently being backed up.Sending
This menu item displays when you have les that are selected but have not been backed
up yet.
Pending
This menu item only appears when all of your selected les have been successfully backed
up. It also displays the date of the last backup.
Last Backup
Immediately starts a backup.Back Up Now
Immediately pauses the current back up.Pause Backup
Opens the View and Restore Files window.Restore Files
Opens the MozyPro Preferences window.Open MozyPro Preferences
