Movers and Shakers It has been raining movers and shakers all overCalifornia! On March 18th, Knights 4 Neighbors teamed up withthe Oakland Zoo Horticulture Department to helpenhance and restore the gardens around varioushabitats. We put on our gardening gloves and pulledweeds to help the trees flourish and also helped pickvegetables like radishes to feed to the animals. Shoutout to the Knights who showed up and helped makethis event possible! Check out the great picturescaptured at the event.

Cinderella & Prince Charming Project

Knights for Neighbors happily helped A Place CalledHome with another event in LA: the Cinderella &Prince Charming Project! Through sorting donationsand guiding students toward desirable dresses andsuits, we were able to help give low-income teens aprom or graduation that they’ll never forget. OurKnights even donated their own apparel andaccessories to make sure every student had a chanceto find their style!

Do you work with a nonprofit in your spare time?Make sure to tell your HR team about them, andwe’ll see if we can get a few volunteers for your event!

All-Regions Walk MS Event

Knights for Neighbors will be joining the fight againstMS again this year, but instead of one region takingpart, EVERY region will be participating! April 22ndwas our Walk MS events in Sacramento and the EastBay, while Knights in Santa Barbara and Long Beachwill walk it out on April 29th.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease ofthe central nervous system that disrupts the flow ofinformation between the brain and body. These eventsare charity walks that help to change the lives of thosewith MS, using donations raised by volunteers to aidin funding critical research and services for thoseaffected.

Many of us here at Knighted are personally affectedby this disabling disease, which makes this walk aworthwhile fight. If you’d like for us to look into anevent that’s personal to you, please let HR know!

Spring is here and the Knighted Writer team would like to share some fun locations suggested to us fromfellow associates. So for all you Knights who would like to explore some new places near you on your dayoff, keep reading.

The Bakersfield team shared some great spots that they like to visit in their area. For a full day of familyfun with the kids we would strongly recommend checking out the Camelot Park, where you can findsomething fun to do for everyone from mini golf to go karts and batting cages to bumper boats. For thosehot summer days, the Golden West team suggested the McMurtry Aquatic Center, where you can swim,play and get on various slides all day long, just make sure to bring your sun screen ;-)

Some of the favorite hiking trails in the LA area are Eaton Canyon Waterfalls in Pasadena and RunyonCanyon in the Hollywood Hills, which has a nice view of the LA skyline and the Hollywood sign. Ofcourse, a must visit if you are in the LA area is Disneyland, it’s perfect for a fun day with the family andkids and let’s be honest, everyone loves to connect with their inner child every once in a while. For theartistic people out there that love to get in touch with their creative side, we would strongly recommendvisiting the Getty museum. The architecture and view alone are amazing and you can also find art piecesby some of the most famous artists from all different periods of time in the history of art.

For our beach lovers there are plenty of fun beach and water activities to do in Ventura. If you like to getwet, you can spend your day cruising the water on a boat or enjoy a diving tour to explore the ocean. Ifyou're a land walker, you can stay dry and take a bike ride on the Ventura to Ojai Paved Bike Path. But ifyou really want to have a weekend full of adventure, you should visit the Channel Islands National Park,where you can take part in events like hiking, arts & culture, and golfing (on top of beach activities, of

course!).

Mengmao Thao - likes to go to Walmart and stock hisfridge to stay home and binge watch all the Netflixmovies he missed while working and at school.

Ben Schembri - likes to head to the beaches. Hewould either go to Stinson Beach in the Bay or SanLuis Obispo to bike and chill on the beach all week.

Isaac Peralta - wants to plan a seaside viewing alongthe coast. He would drive down highway one on thecoast and hit up all the major destinations whiletaking in the ocean view.

Lotus

Curtis Berry - He is looking forward to Coachellabecause he loves the good vibes everyone bringsand he’s excited to see friends he hasn't seen inyears! Curtis cannot wait to listen to music pumpingout of the "Do Lab Tent".

Keith Vang - He and his friends pitched in theirmoney to rent a beach house for spring break. Onone of the days, they decided to chase the sun as itwas setting. One of his friends ran towards theocean, and nearly drowned from the experience!!

Ahlem Zobiri - Spring Break in 2009, spent almost 2weeks in country side back in Algeria, volunteeringwith a group of different people to fix elementaryschools, the place is called Azeffoun and it’s in themountain facing the mediterranean sea.

Neel - It will be 4 years in June

What is your favorite game to "bank" and why?

Neel - I like to bank Pai Gow Poker. It has a lot of things to look out for so it’s really easy to stayengaged. I enjoy being able to go back and compare hands in order to see what would have happenedif the player played it differently or if the bank hand had gambled.

Arlene - Paigow Poker - I like the fact it has every concept of what it really means to be a banker. It'sfun to hustle to "kum kum" and call out players trying to take our action on second bank.

Arnel - Tiles - It was one of the hardest games to bank during my time because of the action, dealers

and players.

What are the top 3 values/traits/characteristics that you look for in your team members? Why arethey important?

Neel

A Willingness to Help Others. It is so easy to get caught up in our own performance/wants that we endup forgetting about those around us. Everyone comes into the job looking to move up or get a raise.The people that stand out to me are the ones that look to help out others just as much as they look tohelp themselves. They also try to help improve those around them whether it’s through training,feedback, or advice. It really helps us out as a team and it helps to promote the team atmosphere welike to have at our casinos.

Perseverance/Patience. No one is good at everything and this job can be humbling by showing us ourweaknesses. Most people hit a wall with their own development while they progress with thecompany. The people that tend to contribute to the team the most seem to be the ones that continue towork hard and push through whatever plateau they’ve reached. After going through this they theyoften look to help other team members when they see them struggling. By giving advice based off oftheir own experiences it ends up benefitting everyone.

Reliability. Being reliable is something that is often easier said than done. Everyone is aware of whatis expected of them in terms of professionalism, job performance or attendance, but it can be astruggle to do these things consistently well day in and day out. I have a lot of respect for those aroundme who are reliable and are able to keep themselves motivated. Knowing we have reliable people onstaff helps to ensure things run smoothly.

Arlene

Strong work ethic - I think in any company you work your personal values will define your attitude atwork and your relationship with your colleagues. Someone who has strong work ethics will care aboutthe quality of work and be committed.

Self Motivated - it's always good to learn and improve to achieve the best you can be.

Positive Attitude & Team Oriented - the ability to acknowledge one's opinion or ideas. The ability toacknowledge mistakes and constructive feedback and still move forward in a positive way.

Selflessness - Our company will only be strong as the next person, we NEED team members thatcan make other people better around them.

Work ethic / discipline - Everyone's value will be based off what they bring to the table and not whatgames or positions/titles they are in.

Self awareness

If you could give yourself advice back when you first started in the industry, what would it be?

Neel - I would tell myself to make sure to get enough sleep and to try and be more healthy. It’s a loteasier to stay on track than it is to try and get back on it.

Arlene - I wish I had more confidence and more open to put forth my ideas.

Arnel - Believe in yourself, have confidence and believe that you are deserving of every opportunitypresented.

Who has been your biggest inspiration and why?

Neel - My dad has been my biggest inspiration to me. He started working before the age of 10 hascontinued to work hard ever since. He is seen as the patriarch of my family and has steered usthrough hard times.

Arlene - My DAD.... he has done some hard work for our family. He gave me tough love but alsoteaches me good values in life. He is the jack fruit of my life. And my kids. I'm just blessed to havethem.

Arnel - I was very fortunate that I had a lot of people that inspired me then and now. It's a lot of namesbut I'd say throughout my career in the business, Quynh Phan and Jason Kim had made the biggestimpact of my career. I would not be in the position I'm now in if it was not for them. The opportunitiesthey provided has helped me both personally and professionally and I'm forever grateful for that. Thetrust and belief they have in me regardless of how many times I fail and for some reason, they alwaysseem to come in at the right time when I need guidance or just giving me a reality check.

What is something you'd like to share with your team?

Neel - “Thanks to everyone at Napa for helping me feel a part of the team.”

Arlene - "Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character iswhat you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are." & “The true test of aman's character is what he does when no one is watching."

This month, Mitch Newcomer, is the 101 rave! He isbeing recognized as a valuable and exemplary memberof the team.

Before Mitch was a rockstar at the 101, he was a crazygood wrestler! He came in 3rd place at the CIF - awrestling competition for high schoolers, and finishedhis season 63-2! He is not only an asset at the casino,but also in the community of the North Bay. Inaddition to his full time position with KV, he is also anassistant wrestling coach at Petaluma High School.

Why is Mitch this month's MVGA (Most ValuableGaming Associate)? He encourages and ignitesdevelopment among the 101ers! He welcomes anyonewho wants to train outside of working hours at hisman made training table! (The table is a mere yogamat - hint, hint, hint) Mitch is the teammate you wantto be, he assists but is never asked, he takes pride inbeing a member of KV and is on point whenever onthe table!

Nancy Vang - Cordova Casino

This month, we would like to recognize Nancy Vang ofCordova Casino for her continued dedication to herteam. Nancy exemplifies everything that we look for inan associate: reliable and dependable, willingness tohelp out when needed, and an overall positive attitude.This past year, Nancy worked to conquer her fear ofpublic speaking. She has even taken it one step furtherby leading pre-shifts and helping her fellow coworkersovercome their fears of public speaking.

Fun Fact: During her free time, Nancy enjoys K-popand anime, and has even traveled as far as LA to see aK-pop show. Her goal is to attend a K-pop show inJapan or Korea to see where it all began. She alsoenjoys spending time soaking up the rays while playingultimate frisbee when the chance presents itself.

Mark Limpag - Goldenwest Casino

Mark is a positive and professional employee whodedicates himself to mastering any challenge he isgiven and is always looking for ways to develop histable skills. Mark is a hard worker who is willing tohelp out the team whether it is with overtime, situationson the table or informing us of concerns. He hasexcellent attendance and always shows up to work

early with a smile on his face.

Mark's fun fact is that he was an engineer in thePhilippines and loves working with numbers.Mark loves Bonsai trees and has a passion forgardening. He grew up in the Philippines andmoved here 3 years ago. He is very active andplays many different sports, during hissophomore year in high school he was thesoccer team captain and they went to thenational championship. This summer he plansto hike Mount Whitney and climb to the top ofthe mountain.

He likes that everyone helps each other and push youto be better. He says that he knew it was a greatcompany to work for at the NHO when he saw thepassion in the eyes of HR and the owners and whenyou can see that everyone is happy and dedicated it is agood feeling and makes you want to work with thecompany.

He lives by the motto "if you're on time you're late."
