PIT Süsswaren & Nährmittelfabrik Hoffmann GmbH & Co. KG is a German company with a long and rich tradition producing in Stephanskirchen in Upper Bavaria, where we develop, manu-facture and package goods for our clients. We’ve been doing this for more than seventy years. A family-run business now in the third generation, we have comprehensive knowledge of the production of confectionaries, food supplements, functio-nal foods and dietetic products and have meanwhile become a household name on the German market.

We are a financially sound, well-structured and socially respon-sible family-owned business with professionally skilled employees who enjoy working for Pit. Quality and environmental awareness are both very important to us. We produce innumerable, cont-inually available products for various business partners such as small- and medium-sized companies and globally active corpora-tions and offer a wide variety of products. Our modern machinery and equipment allows us to provide an exceptional variety and an outstanding range of technical possibilities to match your individual needs.

Our certifications run the gamut from International Food Stan-dard (IFS) to licensing for production of veterinary supplements and official organic and fair-trade labels. We can create customi-zed recipes for you according to your needs or manufacture to your formulas in our own laboratory with our specialists and with the greatest secrecy.

FROM THE VERY START: INGENUITY AND EXPERTISE

Food chemist Otto Hoffmann started producing baking powder while atten-ding university IN 1920. Until the end of World War II in 1945, he managed a large company in Sudetenland (today the Czech Republic) that produced a multitude of processed foods and confectionaries.After the expulsion, he founded the “Food Manufactory Forsting” (Nährmit-telfabrik Forsting) in Bavaria near Was-serburg am Inn in 1946. Using primitive machinery but working with great skill, his employees began producing a variety of goods in great demand from the very scarce raw materials available at the time: cake flours, light whipping cream, alter-natives for chocolate and marzipan and a honey-like glucose syrup made from corn.

THE COMPANY REMAINS TRUE TO ITSELF AND YET MOVES WITH THE TIMES

AT THE END OF THE 1940S, the com-pany moved to Stephanskirchen near Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria. Under the new company name Pit, a modern hard candy production for filled and unfil-led hard caramels and lollipops came into being on the premises of a former anti-aircraft gunner’s barracks. In 1952, Pit introduced the first fizzy hard candies and the beloved “Prickel Pit” fizzy sweets to the market. Rainer Hoffmann, the son of company founder, joined the company in 1958. CEO and company founder Otto Hoffmann died in 1969.

The market underwent radical changes IN 1980S, and along with confectiona-ries, Pit now also started producing food supplements including yeast, propolis, spirulina and especially wheat bran tablets. In the following years the company made extensive investments in new technology. Rupert Hoffmann became the third gene-ration to start working in the company at the start of the new millennium.

Two classic candies from East Germany were added to the assortment IN THE YEAR 2000, “pfeffi” and “zitro.” The first

organic certification by BCS–Nuremburg was received. The customer base continu-ed to grow and moves beyond Germany’s borders. The machinery and equipment was further modernized and continu-ed to evolve, and the production and warehousing space was expanded to about 6,000 square meters. In 2013, Pit took on the production and distribution of the “Becks Cocoa” brand, a cocoa specialist in German-speaking countries. Looking to the future, Pit is striving to achieve increased market penetration and market development for its own brands.

POWDER MIXTURESOur pharmaceutical blenders can produce powder mixtures for you in batch sizes from 150 to 2,000 kilograms. As needed, we can give your products the desired flavors and/or color – according to your exact specifications.

GRANULATESWe produce granulates for you with three different techniques:COMPACTING (ROLLER COMPACTING) Ideal for dust-free tablet pressing and to manufacture granulates for direct consumptionFLUIDIZED BED AGGLOMERATION Exceptionally well suited for beverage powders and tablet pressing WET GRANULATION WITH RING LAYERING GRANULATION Perfect for pressing tablets or for powder mixtures that cannot be realized with the two abovementioned processes

TABLETSBased on powders and granulates, we manufacture a wide variety of tablets (compressed materials) on our rotary machines and eccentric presses. We offer you a selection of more than forty variants: from 5 mm to 90 mm diameters, from 60 mg to 70 g, in every conceivable round and special format. We can also readily develop special tablet forms that are completely customized to your demands.

CAPSULESWe can fill hard-gelatin or cellulose capsules with nutritional supplements (powder or granulate) using our automatic capsule filling machines. We offer you capsule sizes 1 / 0 / 00 and produce starting at volumes > 50,000 capsules. For capsule size 0 there is also the possibility to fill the capsules with pellets (volume > 500,000 pieces).

DRAGÉES As desired, we coat tablets in a traditional manner with sugar or glucose. Dragées manufactured in this way have a stable coating that protects the core. When manufacturing dragées we can additionally optimize the flavor, color, scent and surface of the original tablet.

FILM-COATED TABLETSOn our modern equipment we coat your tablets with special cellulose coatings. This provides the tablets with a protective coating that makes them less prone to outside influences such as water or oxygen. The coating polymers also cover up unpleasant flavors and make them easier to swallow.

We regularly make investments in our machines and the buildings in order to always meet your expectations and keep abreast of the statutory requirements.

We’ve been producing in Bavaria since the very beginning out of conviction. Quality “Made in Germany” is our calling card!

Our laboratory analyzes all the raw materials used and tests every finished product that leaves our establishment.

In addition to legally required testing, we also undergo regular monitoring from an independent laboratory. Moreover, we’ve been certified according to the International Food Standard (IFS 5) for years, which speaks for the food safety, quality and compliance of our products. Pit is also certified for organic production and Fair Trade, as well as being registered for the production of pet food.

While quality and safety are extremely important to us, a working relationship based on trust is also of utmost importance. The hig-hest levels of discretion, confidentiality and non-disclosure form the basis for this trust and are therefore a matter of course for us.
