The Pastor’s Pen
Welcome
Who Am I? Most of the time that’s a question we ask ourselves inwardly
but seldom outwardly; and for good reason. If you ask it out-
wardly, the world will give you a hundred different options,
and then, slap a label on you that has nothing to do with who
God created you to be. Listen to what Paul said…
Because you are sons and daughters, God sent the Spirit of his
Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore, you
are no longer a slave but a son or daughter, and if you are
his child, then you are also an heir through God.
Gal. 4:6-7 (NIV)
Do you know what this means for you? No need to search
for myself. No need to grasp for meaning for my life or purpose
for what I do. No need to hope for inner peace; that sense of
well-being for which every heart longs. No need to hope that
someone or something will make me happy or give me joy. I no
longer need any of these things because grace has connected
me to you and you have named me your child. Excerpt From:
Paul David Tripp. “New Morning Mercies.”
You don’t work in the hope of getting an identity. You
work in celebration of the identity that, in Christ, you
have been given.

McConnell family,
Virginia and I would like to say thank you for all of the
hospitality and love that you’ve shown to our family
over the last month. Even though we’ve been here
only a short while, we already feel part of the
McConnell family. I can’t wait to see all of the great
things that God has in store for McConnell in the days
to come. God desires for us all to be serving in some
area, so if you’re not serving presently, then I want to
encourage you to pray about where God can use you
to impact lives for Christ! Romans 5:8

MOVE UP & CHANGE
IN SUNDAY SCHEDULE
Sunday, August 18th is a big day for our kids! This
will be “move up” Sunday for our preschoolers who
are moving up to Kindergarten in the Children’s
Department and for the 5th graders who will be
moving up to Summit Students!
In addition, starting on the 18th, we will no longer
be bringing our PEAK Kids to the Worship Center
for the beginning of worship. Instead, they will
stay over in the kid’s area after Sunday School. So,
parents, if you don’t make it to Sunday School,
please be sure to take your kids to the PEAK Kids
Department and check them in when you come in
to church.
We want to encourage our people to worship
together as a family so we will not have our
normal PEAK Kids Worship on 5th Sundays.
The next 5th Sunday is September 29th. Please
make a note of this change!
In Christ,
Pastor Steve A.
