Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Community,
ASSEMBLY Congratulations to 5/6B, Mrs Szoboszlay, KA and Miss Alwert for their respective performances at this week’s assembly. It was great to see some of our youngest and oldest students performing on stage in front of an audience.
Not all students are keen performers and some students can become quite nervous in the lead up. On most occasions, when students step outside their comfort zone, they feel a sense of achievement, pride and confidence. Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) is part of our curriculum and it’s important that our students are given opportunities to challenge themselves. Although it is normal for a child to feel apprehensive about performing, please let us know if your child is experiencing high levels of anxiety regarding a performance. I encourage you to phone your child’s teachers and discuss this with them.
P&C MEETING - AGM
Our next P&C meeting will be held on Monday 11 November at 1.30pm in the Community Room. This meeting
will be the AGM. We encourage everyone to come along to learn more about our school and the role of the P&C.
Executive positions will also be elected at this meeting – President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. If
you require any information about what these roles entail, information can be found on the P&C Federation
website https://www.pandc.org.au/faqs/
2020 KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS & ORIENTATION
We are still accepting enrolments for students starting Kindergarten in 2020. If you or anyone you know is
seeking enrolment for 2020, please call into the school office to collect an enrolment form.
Last week our Kindergarten Orientation process began with a teddy bear’s picnic. The session started off with a
tour of the school, led by our student leaders and followed with lots of fun playing with buddies.
The following sessions are still scheduled to take place:
Wednesday 13 November, 10am – Parent expo & student activities in the classroom Wednesday 20 November, 10am – Drop and go
For more information, please contact the office. It’s not too late to enrol and participate in the remaining
orientation sessions.

PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY
Once again, I have had the pleasure of having some amazing students earn the prize
of being principal for the day through our PAWS program. Congratulations and
thank you to Sophie for all her hard work in achieving 200 Paws awards and for
the hard work and fun on the day of being principal.
END OF YEAR CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS – SAVE THE DATE
On Monday 16th of December, our school will be having our end of year Christmas celebrations. This involves
students in K-6 having a party day and finishing off the day with a community Christmas carol afternoon. We
invite all families and students to come along and enjoy some class performances and a sing-a-long on Monday
afternoon, from 3.30-5.30pm.
2019 PRESENTATION ASSEMBLY
Our end of year presentation assembly will be held on Thursday 12th December from 9.30am. You are warmly
invited to attend this end of year celebration assembly.
YEAR 6 FAREWELL
The Year 6 Farewell will be held on Thursday 12th December. Students will be receiving their invitation soon,
including details of times and costs. Thanks to the hard work of our Stage 3 students and generosity of our
community, the fundraising from the mini-fair has enabled the costs of the year 6 Farewell to be heavily
subsidised. If there are any parents of Year 6 students who would like to be involved in organising the farewell,
please contact your child’s teacher.
YEAR 6 TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL
This year, our Year 6 students will be joining Warilla North Public School students in an extended two and a half week high school transition visit to Lake Illawarra High School, accompanied by Mount Warrigal P staff. This project was designed and trailed by Warilla North and Lake Illawarra High School last year. It was a huge success and saw Year 6 Warilla North students settling beautifully into high school at the beginning of this year. It is an exciting opportunity that all Year 6 students are expected to attend, even if they are not planning to attend LIHS. This transition will take place from Monday 25 November through to and including Wednesday 11th December 2019 (Week 7 to mid-week 9). Information has been sent home to families. If you have any questions, please call to speak with child’s teacher.
APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE
We warmly welcome our families into the school of a morning and afternoon. However, we have had some
reports by parents and students, of overhearing some parents using offensive language or discussing
inappropriate content. We ask for support from our community to use appropriate language on school grounds
and to refrain from swearing while on school grounds. Mount Warrigal Public School is a safe space
2020 PLANNING
The time has come for our school to start considering class structures for 2020. This requires a clear
understanding of the number of students anticipated for 2019. If you and your family will be relocating, hence
moving schools for 2020, please contact the office on 42 966 266 so it can be noted. It is crucial that we know
this information, as it directly impacts on the number of classes we have and therefore the number of staff
required. In addition, if you have any concerns about classes for 2020 please put these in writing and forward to
myself. Class teachers cannot be determined at this stage, due to the uncertainty of enrolments, however if your
child experiences anxiety, we can put steps in place to support you and your child.
Kind regards, Jodi Niedermayer
