FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
The last couple of weeks have been incredibly busy.
The Year 6 Graduation was a beautiful ceremony highlighting the 8 year journey of education in primary school. An array of student per-formances were showcased; instrumental ensembles, a duet, piano recitals, choir and whole school songs. The Year 6, Class of 2018 -final performance was joyful and emotional.
The Graduation Committee of Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Hart, Ms. Crozier & Mrs. Buchanan are to be commended for organizing a special event that everyone will remember. The Student Councillors, Hayden and Nadine showed outstanding leadership as hosts of the event.
Congratulations, to the recipients of Year 6 Graduation Awards.
Good bye and Good Luck Year 6’s, we hope you have many fond memories of your time at Mount Claremont Primary School.
Public School Review (PSR) 2018
The PSR report has been placed on the school website. The school performance rating is Effective. The school demonstrates effective practice in creating the conditions required for school success.
There are clear links between the schools future directions in the MCPS Business Plan 2018-20 and the validations made by the re-view team.
It was a privilege to have exemplary school leaders provide the school with feedback to celebrate success and plan for further im-provement.

Junior Swim Day
Last week, all Pre Primary, Year 1 and 2 students ventured to Claremont Pool for our annual MCPS
Junior Swimming Fun Day. The weather was fantastic as was the pool temperature, allowing for an ex-
tremely exciting and fun afternoon for all involved. Students participated in a range of events including
the kickboard frog kick and the pool noodle tow, always a favourite of the kids. Some of the more confi-
dent swimmers entered themselves into the 25 metre freestyle race too for an extra challenge. Well
done, to all students for their efforts on the afternoon, it was great to see you all having some fun in the
pool. I must also thank all parents who attended, particularly Jonathan Petterson, Rebecca Barton, Da-
vid Fitzpatrick and Sarah Brazier who did a fantastic job assisting students in the water.
Kind regards,
Brad Staples

DSTA News
To celebrate the end of the year, defence students were treated to a yummy pizza lunch! Once our piz-
za was finally delivered (!) we all enjoyed some slices of pizza…ham and cheese was the most request-
ed topping, with plenty for us all to share.
This year we are saying goodbye to 3 families who are posting interstate and overseas. I would like to
pass on all the very best to them and hope the move and settling in period goes well. I hope, since I
started in the role this year I have offered some support to those students leaving and feel fortunate to
be welcomed so warmly into the school by all students, parents and staff.
We had Paula Vetter visit us from Defence Health last week. We were very fortunate to have Defence
Health donate Sister Bernadette O’Meara, an Anzac Bear joining our Armistice Centenary Bear donated
by the Freshwater Bay Rotary Club. In 2019, we will also have another bear join our ranks, kindly donat-
ed from the Mount Claremont PS P&C Association.
Finally, I am also pleased to announce that Mount Claremont Primary School has been offered funding
for the Defence School Mentor (DSM) program for 2019. The new year also brings a new title for those
people being placed into schools, with a DSTA now being known as a DSM (Defence School Mentor).
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year, with lots of relaxing and down time
until school resumes for 2019!
