Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to school. I have enjoyed listening to the children’s holiday stories; relaxing at home, going to the movies (Oddball is a favourite), fami-ly holidays, going to the Royal Show, playing with school friends and vaca-tion care activities.

The Arts—DANCE

Our annual Dance Program starts today. The Pamela Humphreys Dance Program is a curriculum

based program of age appropriate dances. It is based on the natural progression of the body’s

movement, posture and mechanics. The program progresses from fun and simple choreography for

younger students through to ballroom, Latin, salsa and hip hop for older students.

The students will attend a lesson each Wednesday for the next seven weeks and the program will

conclude with a Social evening on Wednesday 25th November ( from 6pm – 7:30pm) in the under-

cover area where the students will show off their newly gained skills.

SPORT NEWS

Interschool Athletics Carnival

Towards the end of last term Mount Claremont students from year 3-6 competed in the Interschool Athletics Car-nival at Swanbourne Primary School. Once again there were many outstanding performances and the sports-manship displayed was exemplary as per usual.

Mount Claremont finished 6th in the overall and Meritorious shields. Given the small size of our school we al-ways punch well above our weight division and there were many huge efforts put in during training and on the carnival day. I would like to congratulate all of our students as well as our parents who assisted with training during Term 3, in particular Nicky Lester who organised all training sessions brilliantly.

Staff vs Student Match

In the last week of Term 3 we held staff vs students volleyball match during lunch. It was our chance for our

Year 6 students to gain bragging rights over the MCPs staff cohort. However, despite their valiant efforts our

Year 6 students narrowly lost a thrilling encounter 24-23. There will be a rematch during Term 4, the sport is yet

to be determined, better luck next time boys and girls!
