INTRODUCTION

Tourism Association of Mount Carmel College (Autonomous) has conducted various

cultural competitions throughout the year. The Annual Inter-Collegiate Tourism Fest called

as Ire-Festum witnessed many competitions showcasing and promoting the culture and

tourism in India and also the world. Dance, Cultural Walk, Street Play, Incredible India

Cultural Quiz, Collage, Music, Model Making on heritage and culture and cultural food fest

and so on are some of the most popular competitions of the Tourism Association.

Many colleges actively participated for the inter-collegiate competitions and the

Association has organized intra-collegiate cultural competitions as well. The Tourism

Association has been very actively involved with Karnataka State Tourism Development

Corporation, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Jungle Lodges

and Resorts, Travel Agents Association of India, Indian Association of Tour Operators,

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and other renowned organizations related to

tourism and hospitality industry for conducting various cultural competitions on various

trending themes and topics. The Tourism Association strives to develop the leadership and

event management skills of students by organizing various competitions. The Tourism

Association has been successful in receiving many prizes especially the Overall

Championship Trophy in all the leading tourism colleges in Bengaluru.

The following activities were carried out:

FRESHERS WEEK, MOUNT CARMEL COLLEGE: Fresher’s Week events were organised for all first-year students of Mount Carmel College.

Workshop Seminar, St. Joseph’s College of Commerce:

On the 16th

, 17th

and 18th

of November, 2017, a Workshop and seminar on 2030 Tourism Agenda,

Sustainable Tourism and Millennial Development Goals, was conducted by SJCC and over 10 colleges from

all over India took part. The students of our department participated in the same and won the first place by

qualifying various competitive rounds.
