Mr Dizdar has responsibility for about 500 schools across an area stretching from Bondi to the Southern Highlands and he accepted our invitation to come to speak to our staff and students on the topic of ‘Leadership’. Mr Dizdar is a highly experienced and passionate leader and he was able to pass on many valuable insights on the topic, which is a key part of our school plan. He passed on his thanks to the school for the invitation and especially for the opportunity to meet with our exceptional SRC team, who asked him a range of excellent questions; watch out for the interview in an upcoming newsletter. We were joined on the afternoon by executive staff from our three partner primary schools (Mount Annan PS, Currans Hill PS and Oran Park PS) who thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon as well. Special thanks go to Mrs Michelle Wooley and her Year 11 Hospitality students who did an outstanding job catering for the event and the SRC members who helped serve our guests. It was a great afternoon and a timely reminder that at Mount Annan High School, everyone is a leader. On the subject of leadership, we have recently completed an extensive process aimed at selecting our 2017 student leadership team. Students had to nominate themselves, present an overview of their achievements, undergo an interview with a staff panel and present a speech before a vote was taken. Every student who took part in the process did extremely well and it was an incredibly tight contest for the final positions. The student leadership team for 2017 are as follows: Congratulations to all of the successful candidates and I look forward to working closely with you in the year ahead. The Ken Webb seminars were incredibly useful as itgave us students a clear insight into different ways ofresponding to extended response questions in ModernHistory HSC Exams. The seminars were also reallyhelpful because they identified for us whathistoriographical information should be referred to as wellas providing us with excellent summaries to study. Theway that Ken Webb presented the seminars was highlyengaging and I recommend them to future students ofModern History. Big thanks to Mr Hughes for hisorganisation and Mr Backhouse for inviting Ken Webb toour school.
