Spare Tyre

The spare tyre is located in a cradle under the rear of the motorhome. The jack, tools and wheel brace can be found under a removable panel in the passenger’s foot well.

Please refer to the chassis handbook before attempting to change a tyre located under the passengers seat

Electrical

There are two separate battery systems, a battery for the chassis are two 100 amp deep cycle batteries to power the lights and 12 volt appliances inside the motorhome. This means that usage in the motorhome cannot flatten the chassis battery.

Each time you start the engine, the vehicle alternator will charge both sets of batteries.

Whilst you are camping, the house battery operates the lights, the TV/DVD, water pump, range hood and the ignition for the gas hot water service, stove and oven.

The battery does not operate the power points, the air conditioner, the hot water system or the refrigerator (unless whilst driving). These items require the motorhome to be plugged into a 240 volt source.

There is a 22 amp battery charger which automatically charges the motorhome batteries when the motorhome is connected to a 240 volt source. The battery charger also supplies a trickle charge to the chassis battery to assist with its maintenance when parked for extended periods.

The motorhome 240 volt electrical system is designed to operate on a 15 amp circuit and requires a suitable power lead with 15 amp socket to connect to the motorhome and a 15 amp plug to connect into a 15 amp power supply.

It is not legal to use a power lead which has a 15 amp female socket and a10 amp male plug to connect into a standard household 10 amp power point.

As the electrical system operates off a 15 amp circuit, power management is needed when selecting which 240 volt appliances to run simultaneously in order to avoid overloading and tripping circuit breakers.

The battery charger may use 4 amps leaving only 11 amps for the roof air conditioner/fridge or other appliances.

Please use care when running electrical appliances. As you develop your understanding of the appliances and consumption, you will realise the battery charger will start automatically when connected to 240 volt. However as the battery charges, the level of consumption will reduce resulting in more power being available for other appliances.

Seating

The rear lounge area has a seat belt position on both the driver and passenger side and is also available with 2 forward facing seat belts, which includes 2 anchor points for child restraints.

Note: It is illegal to travel whilst lying down on a bed or walking around the motorhome. All occupants must be seat belted in whilst the vehicle is in motion.

Beds

There is a bed suitable for two people located over the cabin, accessed by an aluminium ladder. It is also equipped with a cargo net for securing items you may store in that area or to prevent people, especially small children from falling out. Pull the net out from under the mattress and slot the belt into brackets built into the ceiling like you would a seatbelt.

There is an electric roll down queen sized bed over the rear lounge, which is lowered from the ceiling. The bed is controlled by a switch, located on the front panel of the kitchen bench, to lower the bed to a desired height.

There are limit switches installed into the bed posts which will stop the bed once it reaches its maximum travel in either direction. Release the operating switch once the bed reaches the desired height or limit switches.

GasGas is an important source of energy in a motorhome, especially if you are free camping away from an electrical source. It is used by the stove, hot water system and the refrigerator.

The motorhome carries 2 x 4kg LPG gas bottles located in an external storage bin labelled “gas”.

To change or fill a bottle, turn the gas bottle off and unscrew the feeder pipe clockwise. To refit, screw the feeder pipe back into the bottle anticlockwise ensuring it is finger tight – do not use tools to tighten. It is recommended that whilst travelling, gas bottles are turned off by turning the knob at the top of the bottle clockwise.

Note: You will have 2 complementary bottles of LPG gas upon pick up.

Gas is very safe but for your peace of mind, we have installed a gas alarm located near the floor at the entry door. If the alarm goes off, evacuate the vehicle leaving the door open and ensure the gas bottles are both turned off.

Stove, oven and grillerGas must be turned on at the bottle (located outside). To turn on a hotplate:

• Select the hotplate to use• Select the applicable knob- note the arrows pointing from knob to hotplate• Turn the knob anticlockwise to the first setting• Hold the knob in whilst briefly clicking the igniters switch to ignite the gas • Once the gas has ignited, hold the knob in for around 5 seconds or else the gas will

go out• Adjust the gas flow lower by turning the knob anticlockwise

The stove also has a convenient electric hot plate, which requires the vehicle to be connected to 240v mains power or a generator. A red light illuminates when the 240v hot plate is turned on.

Warning: Do not close the glass lid while hot plates are turned or still hot as the heat may cause the glass to break.

Heating and Cooling

Air conditioning

As Well as the air-conditioning in the cabin, the roof air conditioning is a remote controlled, reverse cycle system which heats and cools however it can only be operated from a 240 volt power source.

The motorhome is fully insulated and by closing the windows and curtains as well, the air conditioner can cool down or heat the inside very well. Heating of the motorhome can also be performed or enhanced by using the diesel furnace. The air-conditioning remote is located near the Electrical control panel.

FansThere is a push button 12 volt fan in the bathroom designed to extract steam when showering provided the roof hatch is open.Along with another 12 volt fan on the roof near the roll down bed powered by the switch for the centre row of lights.

An exhaust fan is fitted in the kitchen above the cook top. Press the right hand button to turn the fan on. The left hand button turns the light on.We suggest you always use the exhaust fan when cooking as steam and cooking odour is extracted outside.

Hatches and ventilationIn addition to the 12 volt hatch in the bathroom, there are 3 other hatches installed into ceiling to provide the circulation of fresh air. Two of these hatches are permanently vented which allow the continuous circulation of air. This is a safety feature incorporated into our design to prevent suffocation when hatches and windows are closed.

There are large louvered windows which will also provide cross ventilation when opened.

Note: Please ensure windows and roof hatches are closed before travelling to avoid any damage.

Kitchen and General Interior

Refrigerator

The refrigerator operates from three power sources and when the Automatic Energy Selector (AES) button is pressed, it will automatically change to the most appropriate power source. Temperature is controlled via the thermostat and indicated by the row of lights.

When driving, it will select the batteries as the power source in order to maintain temperature whilst travelling. The battery light on the fridge will light up.

When stopped and plugged in to a 240 volt electrical outlet, the refrigerator will detect the presence of 240volt after a few minutes and automatically switch itself to that source. The power plug icon will light up.

When stopped and no 240 volt power is available, the refrigerator will switch to gas after a few minutes. If the gas bottle is not turned on, a fault light will then be displayed.

All you need to do is to ensure that the AES light is on and you press the thermostat button to select the temperature level as indicated by the row of lights.

You can deselect the AES (automatic changeover feature) and run the refrigerator solely on gas however it is not recommended to use gas whilst travelling.

Television/DVD Player/AerialThe television is a 19 inch LCD Hi-Definition TV with an inbuilt DVD player. To complement the TV, there is a wind up TV antenna capable of receiving HD broadcasts. The antenna uses 12 volt to power an inbuilt signal booster for an even better picture.

12 volt power supply provides 12 volt power to the signal booster inside the antenna head and supplies reception to any auxiliary 12 volt sockets.

The wall plate has a power switch, 12 volt socket and coaxial cable connection.

To watch TV, the red power switch needs to be pressed which will then illuminate a red LED light.

Traveling from one area to another will result in local television broadcasters changing accordingly. As a result television stations already programmed into the TV may no longer be able to be viewed and the TV may need to be reprogrammed. The easiest method is to select auto tune from the TV’s programming options to tune in all available channels, however any previously stored channels will be deleted.

Once the TV has been programmed, the picture can then be enhanced by rotating the antenna. Pull down the circular plate above the winder handle (1), to disengage a lock, which allows the antenna to rotate (2).

Note: Before moving the motorhome, ensure the antenna is wound down in the correct position to avoid damage to the antenna or the motorhome. The antenna has to be aligned with the directional ring plate secured to the ceiling before winding down the antenna into its storage position.

An electric, 12v entrance step has been installed to provide safety and convenience when entering or exiting the motorhome.

The step is operated via a switch mounted on the cupboard end as you walk up the stairway.

Press the down arrow to extend the step and press the up button to retract the step.

Step Switch

As an additional safety feature a buzzer has been installed which will activate when the engine is started to remind you the steps have been left out, however as an additional feature, an automatic return has been installed to activate once the engine is started. Note: Once you have arrived at your campsite, open the steps and leave them out until departing as injury may occur when exiting the vehicle and the steps have been stowed. When travelling, passengers are to use caution when departing from the motorhome if the steps are stowed.

Water

Conserve waterAlways try and conserve water. Don’t fill the sink up, as you only need a few centimetres in the bottom of the sink to wash up.

When showering, we suggest that you wet yourself with the shower, then turn the shower off whilst soaping up, then turn the shower back on for a rinse. If cold, why not turn the ducted diesel furnace heater on, there is an outlet in the bathroom.

Don’t over flush the toilet.

Fresh WaterThere is a freshwater tank on board, which has a 106 litre water capacity. To fill the fresh water tank, unlock the door over the water filler and remove the cap. Insert a hose and fill at moderate speed until full.

Note: Do not leave the hose unattended as the water pressure may cause damage to the breather fitting on the rear of the water filler and possible flooding when the tank over fills.

Try and keep the water tank full at every opportunity just in case you discover a campsite where there is no water available.

Water PumpTo operate the water pump, the on/off switch can is located on the 12 volt control panel.

The pump needs to be switched on to pump fresh water to the sink, toilet, internal and external showers (optional). When you turn the pump on you will hear a brief noise as the pump engages and the water lines pressurise.

It is recommended that you turn the pump off at night or when not needed to minimise the pressure within the water system when not being run.

Grey Water

The grey water tank holds the runoff from the shower and sink. This should be emptied frequently as the extra weight wastes fuel – 1 litre of water is 1 kg of weight. Capacity for the tank is 106 litres.

The grey water tank must be emptied responsibly, into a grey water drain found at most caravan parks or onto grass or dirt where appropriate to do so.

You are provided with a hose which clips over the grey water fitting. Turn the handle in line with the fitting to empty the tank. When using in caravan parks, keep the valve open to constantly run the water away into the drain.

Note: Care should be taken not to wash food scraps or grease and fat into the drains as blockages may occur or the contamination of tank probes which register the water level for display on the control panel.

Hot water system

You have a 24 litre hot water system installed which uses gas as the power source and can be left turned on, as with a domestic hot water service at home. The hot water is distributed through the system via the demand water pump.

When operating the hot water service, ensure the gas bottle and the 12 volt control panel are turned on. Once the gas switch is turned on, the red light will illuminate until the gas ignites. The red light will illuminate again should there be a disruption to the gas supply or water temperature inside the tank lowers sufficiently for the burner to reignite and reheat the water.

The water will heat in approximately 15-20 minutes. As the hot water is used, the hot water service will draw and reheat water from the fresh tank via the demand pump.

Note: We use hot a water tempering valve to prevent accidental scalding by limiting the water temperature to 48 degrees Celsius.

CED Avida 2013.R3.03.13

ToiletThe toilet uses water from its own water tank and pump to supply water to a removable cassette tank (1) which requires the use of chemicals to break down waste.

This system has a separate 15 litre fresh tank (2) which is filled and operates independently of the motorhome water supply system.

The independent tank has an indicator (3) to show its water level. As the tank fills, water rises up the clear tube to show the water level.

To use the toilet, push the blue button (4) to flush the toilet, turn the lever (5) located at the side of the toilet bowl to open the slide gate for the holding cassette and close the lever (5) to seal the toilet bowl from the waste cassette. A LED light illuminates (6) to display the level inside the cassette.

Note: There is a second roll out screen which separates the toilet from the shower, enabling the toilet to remain dry.

To empty the cassette, open the toilet cassette door located outside of the motorhome. Lift the green tab (7) with your fingers to release the cassette and then pull the cassette towards you using the handle (8).The cassette has a retractable handle (8) and rollers to wheel the cassette to a waste dump point. Remove the green screw cap from the waste pipe and aim the pipe into the dump hole. For fast disposal, press the green button (10) to vent the cassette.

When empty, rinse out the cassette and the dump area ensuring you leave it clean for the next person.

Place 100ml of toilet chemical and approximately 1 litre of fresh water into the cassette, to allow the chemicals to disperse across the bottom of the tank. Refit the green cap and replace the cassette back into its storage area.

The XYZ of Motorhoming

• Try free camping or National Park Camping - it’s a good experience but use common sense

• Plan to make camp before the sun sets at no later than 5pm – it allows you to survey the area

• Always pack everything away from outside before you retire for the night• Keep the keys handy but never in the ignition• Use gardening gloves to fill the diesel tank to avoid the greasy feel of the fuel• Keep the essentials topped up constantly – fuel, water, the pantry and the

refrigerator• Organise yourself inside and pack everything into a cupboard or drawer like at

home – suitcases and motorhomes don’t mix• You will use 30% more fuel at 100km per hour than you would at 90km per

hour• Turn the TV off and enjoy a quiet time under the stars
