    Abstract:

Theorists had made quite a number of studies on Mosque typology and the design

framework employed by the Architects; however, there was no will defined research

methodology which led to failure in bridging each type of mosque with its proper design

framework. However, some proposed design frameworks do coincide with the assigned

types. Furthermore the design frameworks totally ignored the individual creativity as

well as the group creativity in the design process.

This research aims to properly correlate the design frameworks with mosque

types through the study of one type of mosque in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and

identify the corresponding design framework, group creativity and the individual

creativity in the design process which were ignored by earlier researcher.

Indeed the design framework for the selected type shows strong influence of

group creativity on the individual creativity which in turns singles out a particular

    architectural historical preference.
