As the weather finally warmed up, we were able to celebrate in style at our 17th Annual Heart & Soul Gala. Although we may be a little biased, we think it was one of our best Galas yet. The glitz and glamour of the evening raised almost $70,000 to support our programs and services. We would like to thank everyone who made the event a success, from our awesome Gala Commit - tee, our volunteers, our entertainers, our friends and supporters and our sponsors – Wells Fargo, Daryan Display and Suntec Industries. Nothing would have been possible without you! The Gala was followed up by another successful event – an open house and blessing of our new home in Richard- son. The home, which was generously donated to Mosaic by Ascension Lutheran Church in Garland, is now home to four gentlemen. It’s been a very busy spring at Mosaic. As the weather finally warmed up, we were able to celebrate in style at our 17th Annual Heart & Soul Gala. Although we may be a little biased, we think it was one of our best Galas yet. The glitz and glamour of the evening raised almost $70,000 to support our programs and services. We would like to thank everyone who made the event a success, from our awesome Gala Commit-tee, our volunteers, our entertainers, our friends and supporters and our sponsors – Wells Fargo, Daryan Display and Suntec Industries. Nothing would have been possible without you!

The Gala was followed up by another successful event – an open house and blessing of our new home in Richard-son. The home, which was generously donated to Mosaic

by Ascension Lutheran Church in Garland, is now home to four gentlemen. The house-warming party took place on March 1 and was hosted by the new residents. Pastor Kurt Friederich of Ascen-sion Lutheran Church performed the blessing of the home followed by a feast prepared by the members of the congre-gation. We appreciate all the housewarming pres-

ents given to us by neighbors, friends and members of the church. We are incredibly honored to be the recipient of such a wonderful gift which has already immensely changed the quality of life for four people Mosaic serves. If you are inter-ested in donating a housewarming present, it’s not too late! Please see our wish list for items we would love to have for our home as well as for our other homes and programs.

What is your job? I am a Direct Support Associate.

How long have you worked for Mosaic?

It will be six years in December.

What do you like best about Mosaic?

I like the work environment, the fact that the company is so supportive and that my supervi-

sor is so open to my opinions and input.

What is your happiest moment at Mosaic?Christmas time – putting up the tree, decorating the

home and attending the Christmas dance. I love watching the guys get their pictures taken with Santa.

Tell us about your family.I have one sister who has a son and five grandkids here in

Dallas. My mother lives in California.

Do you have any hobbies?Yes, I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles, word finds and Sudoku.

What is your favorite food?I like all foods but if I had to choose one it would be

Chinese food.

What do you do when you are not at Mosaic?I am a caregiver for Senior Citizens.

Volunteer Spotlight: Jim LangeTell us a little about yourself.

I have lived in the Dallas area for 15 years with my wife Jacqueline and our three chil-dren. We thoroughly enjoy the area, the people and of course that Texas pride.

Why are you interested in volunteering for Mosaic?

Mosaic’s mission is fantastic and as soon as I was provided a

tour and overview, I was moved. You really need to attend a Discover the Possibilities meeting, there’s one every month. It’s clear to me that Mosaic is something special and I wanted to be part, even if only a small part, of the volunteer group that provides help any way we can.

I would encourage anyone who is reading this to do the same. It’s easy, visit www.mosaicindallas.org and find out when the next Discover the Possibilities meeting is and register. It will be the best hour of your week!

How did you find out about Mosaic?I’m a consultant with Executives In Action, which is an

organization of executives who lend their talents to Dallas-Fort Worth area nonprofits free of charge. I was asked to help with the operational plan and certifications around the Mosaic shredding business. I jumped in and became an instant fan.

What are you most interested in participating in while volun-teering for Mosaic?

Right now, I’m helping out on Saturdays with the shred-ding business. It’s growing each month and I’m helping Mosaic keep up with the workload.

It’s a blast. My wife, daughter and son have accompanied me on several weekends and it’s a great way for a family to spend time together. We work hard, have fun and know that we’re contributing to the Mosaic mission.

What are you most looking forward to while volunteering for Mosaic?

To me, it’s simple. I’m really looking forward to being part of something that’s good and right. How often in life can we say that?

The people supported by Mosaic are served by a great team of staff and volunteers and we know that help is needed each day to maintain operational momentum.

Volunteering is easy. Ask yourself what you’re good at and I bet there’s a need at Mosaic for that skill. If you’re unsure where to begin, meet me on Saturdays and we’ll have fun shredding paper!

Meet Kevin What do you do at Mosaic?

I work in the document destruction center and I go out on deliveries and pick ups.

What is your favorite thing about Mosaic?

I like shredding paper.

What makes you the happiest?Working at Mosaic and Angela,

my girlfriend of three years.

What is your favorite day of the week?Friday, because it’s the end of the week and the beginning

of the weekend.

Do you have any hobbies?Yes, I like bowling.

What’s your favorite food?Ramen noodles – I eat them everyday!

Celebrations aboundHolidays and special events would not be the same

without our volunteers and friends. Each month, birth-day bashes are hosted and holidays are celebrated. These events bring so much joy and fun and we can’t thank our friends enough. A special thanks to Starbucks for the holiday parties they put on in the Vocational Center – we love the food and activities and we can’t wait for the next holiday!

Getting older is not always something you want to cele-brate, but at Mosaic, birthdays are quite the celebration!

That’s because we are blessed to have friends who know how to throw great parties! Thank you to the following churches who have helped to celebrate birth-days this year

for Mosaic – St. Luke’s Lutheran

Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, and King of Glory Lutheran Church.

Our Church partners also blessed us this year with the most amazing Easter baskets. We would like to thank June Kelm, Preston Meadow Lutheran Church, Linda Murdock, Kim McBrayer, Resurrection Lutheran Church, Rejoice Lutheran Church in Coppell, Rejoice Lutheran Church in Frisco, Ascension Lutheran Church, DFW Church, St. Lukes Lutheran Church, for helping us to celebrate Easter and bring a little extra joy into the lives of those we serve.

can pay tribute to the many volunteers who put their time, energy, talents and hearts into bettering Mosaic.
